Unsigned Opera Programs & Posters

Unsigned large luxury program with many photographs and articles for the massive concert by The 3 Tenors (Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo & Luciano Pavarotti), under the baton of James Levine, held in Paris, on July 10th, 1998.  Size is 9.4 x 13 inches, full program with all pages and covers, in very good condition.

Beautiful original playbill from Theatre Royal Opera House in Brighton, England, announcing a performance of Il Trovatore. Cast singers include some famous names such as german soprano Mathilde Bauermeister (1849-1926) as Leonora and italian tenor Italo Campanini (1849-1896) as Manrico. Very large size, 30 x 9.75 inches!. In excellent condition, folded in the center.

Program for the 1929 edition of the Wagner Festival at Theatre des Champs Elysees for the performance of the four operas composing Der Ring des Nibelungen with articles and many illustrations. Size is 9.3 x 12.8 inches, full program with all pages and covers, few cracks, signs of wear on the front cover, inside in excellent condition.

Fantastic collection of 10 unsigned opera programs for performances of Louise, Monna Vanna, Carmen, Pelléas et Mélisande, Thaïs, Tannhäuser, Marion, Manon, L'Heure Espagnole, and Le Diable dans le Beffroi; 7 of them at the Theatre National de L'Opera Comique and 3 of them at the Academie Nationale de Musique et de Danse, between the years 1917 and 1931  9 programs are 5.3 x 7.1 inches in size each, 1 program is 5.75 x 9.3 inches, full programs with all pages and covers, in excellent condition. Small collection of 15 programs for performances at the Theatre National de L´Opera, Paris, between 1891 and 1903. Each program is complete, with 4 pages in total, and 4.1 x 6.25 inches in size, except the last 2 programs that are 4.4 x 7.75 inches. Shown are scans of front page and central pages, all in good condition. Sold as a lot only - not sold individually.

Set of 8 items, including 5 programs for concerts with the New York Chorus Society under the baton of Theodore Thomas, plus 3 clips from larger size programs for 3 concerts, all of them between 1883 and 1885. Some important performers as soloists, including Winkelmann, Materna, Juch, Scaria and others. Programs are complete, with all pages and covers, 5.75 x 7 inches (4 programs), one is a 1-page program for a performance of Tannhauser, 8 x 10.2 inches. Clips are from concerts at Steinway Hall, approx. 7.3 x 9.75 inches each, and they are mounted on album pages. All in overall very good condition. Sold together, not sold separately.  

Testimonial program at the Metropolitan Opera House on February 23, 1886, to celebrate the life and voice of the American soprano Emma Thursby. Size is 9.5 x 12.25 inches, 4 pages, in excellent condition. Metropolitan Opera programs from this time are extremely rare to find!

Full program with all pages and covers, for an early performance of this popular opera at Teatro de la Opera, Buenos Aires, Argentina, July 1st, 1902.  In the title role is Hariclea Darclee, who created the role of Tosca in the world premiere of January 1900, also in the cast are Edoardo Garbin and Mario Ancona, conducted by Leopoldo Mugnone.  See a scan of the cast page. A total of 18 pages plus covers, which are lose, 6.8 x 10.2 inches, in excellent condition.

A beautiful playbill announcing the performance of Verdi's opera "La Traviata" at Teatro La Scala, Milan, on January 1, 1924, starred by Gilda Dalla Rizza, Luigi Montesanto and Aureliano Pertile under the baton of the star Italian conductor Arturo Toscanini. Size is 10.1 x 14.9 inches, central fold, otherwise in excellent condition.

Richly illustrated Dresden opera program with Fritz Reiner & Heinrich Knote. Rare program of the European period of Fritz Reiner who conducted the Dresden opera between 1912 and 1921, in this year he emigrated to the US where he started his career at the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, 6.5 x 8.6 inches

Great playbill/poster from the Met Opera in New York, mounted on cardboard. Advertises historic performance of Tristan und Isolde in 1974 with Birgit Nilsson and Jon Vickers - unsigned. Size is 11 x 20.25 inches, minor rust on borders, in great condition!

Size is 6.8 x 9.7 inches, full program with all pages and covers, extensive mounting damage on the back cover, in overall very good condition.  

Group of 9 programs Vienna State Opera, from between 1931 and 1939, full programs each being 5.75 x 7.9 inches, with all pages and covers, in very good condition.

Lot of 31 programs from the Vienna State Opera, years 1942 through 1944, most have ticket stubs glued to the top left corner, all in very good condition. Sizes range from 4 x 6 inches (programs from 1944, when at the end of WWII paper became progressively more scarce) to 6 x 8.25 inches (most 1943) and 8.5 x 12 inches (some of the 1942 programs). Group of 49 programs from the Vienna State Opera, all from the year 1946, each one is 6 x 8.25 inches, in very good condition. Some programs have more than one single page, some include ticket stubs. See scans.

Many playbills are from the period 1900-1910, most are one page, 9.25 x 11.5 inches, some are in smaller size, a few have 4 pages.
