Original program from Teatro La Scala, season 1847, for a performance of Beatrice di Gand, including in the cast famous Austrian ballerina Fanny Elssler (1810-1884), and Italian dancer, choreographer and mime Domenico Ronzani (1804-1868). Complete, with all 16 pages and original covers, size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, in excellent condition - a rare find.

Italian composer (1796-1867), best known for his around 70 stage works including many operas in a light style. Rare carte-de-visite style photograph signed by the composer with a short sentiment. CDV by photographer A. Hautmann, Florence. Size is 2.4 x 4.5 inches, in excellent condition. Rare!

Italian composer (1795-1870) mostly of operas, Mercadante was very famous in his time and was important in the development of opera. Autograph letter signed, in Italian (sold untranslated), dated in Naples in 1861. One page, size is 5.25 x 8.25 inches, the addressee is written on verso by Mercadante, folds, in very good condition.

Group of 15 program-playbills for performances in various theaters in Vienna, between 1916 and 1925 (with 2 exceptions, one 1874 and one 1931 playbill), seven are in 7.75 x 9.75-inch format, the rest in larger size (approx. 8.75 x 11.5 inches), all in very good condition. Italian soprano (1873-1951), particularly associated with the Italian repertory, later in life became a voice teacher (Clara Petrella was one of her students). Large signed photo, shown in role, an original photo by Hermann Mishkin, New York, mounted on a photographer mat to a total size of 8.75 x 13.4 inches, in very good condition.

Signed by Pablo Casals on first page. Book published by Editions Albin Michel, 1955, 340 pages, soft covers, 5.25 x 8 inches, binding damaged by repaired, otherwise in good condition.  

Star American contralto (1871-1947), signature cut, size is 4.25 x 1.8 inches, in excellent condition. Also included is an unsigned photo, shown in role. Size is 2.9 x 3.9 inches, in excellent condition.

German dramatic soprano (b. 1963) especially known for her interpretations in the Wagnerian repertoire , signed photo, shown as herself. Size is 4 x 6 inches, in excellent condition.

American tenor (1869-1923), signed photo postcard, shown as himself, dated in 1912. Photo by Breitkopf and Hartel, New York. Size is 3.5 x 5.25 inches, in extremely good condition.

American tenor (1952-2007) and German soprano (b. 1967), double signed photo, shown as Tito and Servilla, respectively, in Mozart's Clemenza di Tito at the 1997 Salzburg Festival. Stamped on verso by Photo Schaffler, Salzburg. Size is 4 x 6 inches, very attractive photo in excellent condition.

French soprano (1852-1939), celebrated especially for her performances of operettas by Jacques Offenbach, starring in the world premieres of his La Jolie Parfumeuse, Girofle-Girofla, La Marjolaine and Le Petit Duc, among many others. Autograph note signed, 2 pages, written in French, sold untranslated. Size is 4.3 x 5.9 inches, beautifully preserved in excellent condition.

German soprano (b.1971) and American mezzo-soprano (b.1960), double signed photo showing them as the Composer and Zerbinetta, respectively, in Richard Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos. Size is 4.9 x 6.9 inches, bright beautiful photo in excellent condition.

Group of 8 trade cards by the Sweet Caporal Cigarette tobacco company, depicting opera singers, including: Sibyl Sanderson (2 of the same card), Emma Eames, Therese Malten, Jessie Bartlett-Davies, Emma Abbott, plus 2 singers last named Politz and Darce. Each one is 1.5 x 2.6 inches, overall age fading, Emma Abbott card is unmounted while all others are mounted on cardboard, overall very good condition.

Famous French conductor and violinist (1838-1910), a great champion of Hector Berlioz´ music and contemporary composers. Colonne founded in 1873 an orchestra that took his name and continued giving concerts until the 1960s. Signed half-tone photo, inscribed and dated in 1901, size is 4.1 x 5.5 inches, rust spots on verso, in very good condition. Listen to conductor Colonne conducting Berlioz' Hungarian March from his opera The Damnation de Faust, recorded in 1906:

Russian soprano, signed photo postcard, shown in role, inscribed and dated in Milan in 1926, with a long text on front and verso. Size is 3.25 x 5.4 inches, in very good condition.

Polish bass (1892-1965), famous in his time and left recordings. Signed photo, shown in Faust, inscribed and dated in Milan in 1927. Blind stamped by unknown photographer on front, torn and repaired upper left corner and silvering around borders, otherwise in good condition. Rare!

VANITY FAIR was a weekly periodic published in London between 1869 and 1914, its articles were about the current political, social, literary and financial news. Each issue featured a bound-in lithograph depicting an influential personality of the day. Lithographs were often accompanied by text which extolled or lamented the virtues or vices of the person/s being featured - and they are today highly collectible. Each original Vanity Fair lithograph is 10.5 x 15.75 inches, is original, and comes with a copy of the corresponding text. All lithographs have mounting traces (tape marks) on verso. French Basque tenor and baritone (1764-1823), celebrated throughout Europe, particularly for his interpretations of Gluck, during the era of the French Revolution and afterwards. Autograph note signed, addressed to "Citoyens" (the directors of the Paris Conservatory), dated December 14, 1800, announcing his availability for the professorship of singing. Written in French, sold with English translation. Size is 6 x 7.8 inches, fascinating vintage item in beautifully preserved condition.

Bohemian-Austrian operetta soprano (1879-1961), creator of the title role of Hanna in the Merry Widow. Signed photo postcard, shown in Johan Strauss's Die Fledermaus at the Theater an der Wien, Vienna. Size is 3.3 x 5.3 inches, small paper loss on bottom left corner not affecting the image or signature. Otherwise in excellent condition.

French tenor (1895-1973), signed and inscribed photo postcard, shown as himself.  Signed at La Monnaie in Brussels, dated in 1928. Stamped on verso by photographer Joseph Rentmeesters, Brussels. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Canadian conductor and composer (1893-1973), who greatly contributed to the development of music in Canada. Signed photo, dated in Toronto in 1946. Size is 6 x 8 inches, stamped on verso by photographer Noel Rubie, Sydney, in very good condition.

Italian conductor (1902-1982), who was also composer, associated with the opera repertory. Autograph letter signed, dated in 1963. Handwritten in Italian, sold untranslated. Two pages on one sheet, sized 5.75 x 8.25 inches, some storage holes, otherwise in very good condition.

Polish composer and conductor (1909-1994), autograph music quote signed, with 3 bars of music by Richard Strauss, dated in 1983. Size is 6 x 3.25 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian-American conductor (1916-2008), particular associated with the Italian opera repertory. Signed promo photo, shown posing conducting, inscribed. Size is 8 x 9.9 inches, minor creases on borders, otherwise in very good condition.

Russian-born American violinist (1903-1992), one of the finest of the 20th century and Austrian composer, conductor and violist (b.1927). Signed program for a concert in Vienna, dated in June 7th, 1960. Milstein performing Beethoven violin concerto and Angerer conducting the orchestra. Four pages, sized 5.75 x 8.25 inches, in excellent condition.

Russian-American conductor (1893-1967), nephew of famous conductor Boston Symphony Orchestra: Serge Koussevitzky. Autograph music quote signed, with two bars from an unknown piece, with a short sentiment. Size is 6 x 2.9 inches, in very good condition.

American conductor of Romanian ancestry (b.1941), signed photo, shown conducting, inscribed. Size is 6.6 x 4.4 inches. Stamped on verso by photographer Clide Barda, London.

Famous Hungarian conductor (1888-1963), most especially noted as an interpreter of Strauss and Bartok.  Fine photo postcard signed by him. Size is 3.6 x 5.5 inches, in very good condition.

Original engraving print by Abrahm de Blois, after a drawing by Gerard Hoet, published by Pierre de Hondt. Joseph makes himself known to his brothers in his palace in Egypt. Under the image, title Josephus Innotescit Fratribus, is shown in six different languages. High quality print, sized 14 x 21 inches, some rust on margins, image is in excellent condition. Rare!

French soprano (1827-1895), who was the first Marguerite in the world premiere of Gounod's Faust, and Juliette in the premiere of the same composer's Romeo et Juliette, among other important operas. Nice lot of 5 autograph letters signed by her, in French (sold untranslated), two of the letters show her initials as letterhead. Each letter is 2 to 4 pages long, being each page 5.25 x 8.1 inches in size. Small binding holes on the left border, otherwise in very good condition.  SOLD ONLY AS A LOT, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.

French soprano (1801-1863), later teacher, particularly associated with Rossini roles and also operas by Meyerbeer and Auber - Cinti-Damoreau world premiered several operas for them.  Fantastic collection of 12 autograph letter signed, in French (most of them with translations), sizes range from 4 x 5.1 inches to 5.25 x 8 inches, all in very good condition.
