Star Italian tenor (1873-1921), who was also an amateur caricaturist. Large caricature made and signed by him in crayon, depicting French-Algerian baritone Dinh Gilly (1877-1940) in the role of the high priest in Aida. Gilly sang at the Metropolitan Opera for 5 years (1909-1914). Made in 2 separate pages with the letterhead of the Knickerbocker Hotel in New York on verso, pages are attached together with tape, to a total size of 8 x 20 inches. Caruso made an abbreviated signature (with his initials) at the bottom left. Small missing pieces of paper over the top and top left, but overall in good condition.
