Famous German tenor (1806-1874) who later became a very important pedagogue, Mantius befriended Mendelssohn and performed in world premieres by him, Flotow, Meyerbeer and in Otto Nicolai´s most famous opera The Merry Wives of Windsor.

Autograph letter signed by him, in German, dated in Berlin in 1846. Sold untranslated. One page, 8 x 11 inches, has folds, a repaired crack over the center of the left border, ink is overall on the faded side but still clearly legible, priced accordingly - rare!
