Soviet-born dancer (1938-1993) of ballet and modern dance, one of the most celebrated of the 20th century. Nureyev's artistic skills explored expressive areas of the dance, providing a new role to the male ballet dancer who once served only as support to the women.
Large, mugshot photo of him next to star dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov, inscribed. Size is 11 x 14 inches! On verso, it reads in pencil "Washington DC, April 7th, 1976, Watergate Hotel, signed by Rudolf Nureyev on April 20th, 1976 after a performance of Romeo et Juliet at the Metropolitan Opera in NY.
Also signed on verso by star pianist Van Cliburn who probably was present at the moment. In excellent condition.
