Star Italian composer of operas (1792-1868), of which he created 39, including Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Signed libretto-program for a performance of his opera "Mose in Egitto", in Bologna, 1829 ("Mose" was world premiered in Naples in 1818). Cast includes famous soprano Giulia Grisi (1811-1869), bass-baritone Celestino Salvatori (1805-1875) in the title role, young soprano Eugenia Tadolini (1808-1872), and young Michael William Balfe (1808-1870) as a bass!

Balfe pursued first a career as a violinist, then as an opera singer (bass voice), as seen in this 1829 program from Bologna, and then as a composer, the job that later earned him fame. 

Signed program-libretto, with signature by Rossini on the front page, inscribed, with all 36 pages. Manually bound with a thread, 5.5 x 7.25 inches. some rust stains on front, excellent in the rest, clear, bold signature and a great piece of memorabilia.
