Sullivan, Arthur - Gilbert, W.S. - Autograph Letters Signed
Item #: GA0085-GX001A
Arthur Sullivan (1842-1900) was an English composer, creator of many popular operettas, together with his librettist W.S. Gilbert (1836-1911). Set of one autograph letter signed by Sullivan, and one autograph note signed by WS Gilbert.
Sullivan´s autograph letter reads "My dear Pole (William Pole, noted organist), thanks for your kind letter and the discovered error - the # is superfluous and shall be cut in the next edition. I am afraid it is too late to put in the little bit of imitation; besides, many little touches one may put in on the spur of the moment that are hardly worth preserving. I will put it into the score if you like...". In very fine condition, with interesting music content about changes in his work. One page written on both sides, 4.5 x 7.25 inches, undated.
WS Gilbert´s autograph note signed offering his autograph to a fan, attaching a card on verso with the autograph of another, unknown, artist, dated in 1890. Size is 4 x 7 inches, very good condition. Also included is a photo print of him sized 5.75 x 8.75 inches. See scans.
