German-born British pianist (1819-1895), conductor, and founder of The Hallé Orchestra in 1858. Very fine autograph letter in English signed by him, dated August 26, 1882, where he addresses the Danish composer Johann Peter Hartmann (1805-1900), concerning upcoming musical engagements. Open size is 8.9 x 7.3 inches, 3 written pages in one folded sheet, central fold, letterhead, in overall excelent condition.

Anglo-German pianist (1819-1895), conductor, and founder of The Hallé Orchestra in 1858. Autograph note signed in 1879, in English, about an appointment, one page. Size is 4.4 x 6.9 inches, in very good condition.

British pianist (1919-2004). She appeared at the Proms playing Saint-Saens's Second Piano Concerto with Henry Wood in 1938, and took part in several lunchtime concerts for Myra Hess at the National Gallery. Thereafter she gradually disappeared from the public stage. Signed photo postcard, dated in 1949. Size 3.5 x 5.5 inches

French pianist (b.1936), a pupil of Alfred Cortot Small card mounted on cardboard with a short sentiment signed and inscribed by the pianist, dated May 31, 1962. Size is 6 x 3.1 inches, in excellent condition.

Argentine pianist whose career focused on Argentine folk music. Nice black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by her with a long sentiment; ink-stamped on verso by photographer Carmen, Buenos Aires. Size is 3.8 x 5.8 inches, in excellent condition.

Hungarian pianist and composer (1813-1888), who was also a teacher. Heller was a close acquaintance of many famous romantic composers of his time, such as Berlioz, Chopin and Liszt. Heller created many pieces for the piano. Autograph note signed by him, in one folded sheet, handwritten on both sides, showing blind letterhead with his initial on the first page. See scans. Heller writes to a friend (prob. composer Felix LeCouppey) mentioning he is about to leave for a visit to England, that he has been so busy finishing new compositions that he did not have a single free moment. He asks to give his regards to Mrs. LeCouppey and signs as St. Heller at the end. Size is 8 x 5.25 inches (unfolded size), or 4 x 5.25 inches (folded). Minor rust spots, otherwise very good condition, rare! Also included is a half-tone print with the pianist/composer image, probably from a book or magazine.

French pianist (1925-2001). Album page signed by her, dated 1943, attached to a half-tone clip of her shown at the piano, from a magazine or program. Total size is 6 x 6.5 inches, in excellent condition.

British pianist (1890-1965), who became a prime favorite in the United States, not only as a soloist but also as a fine ensemble player.  Fine black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment. Size is 7.5 x 9.5 inches, small loss of paper on all four corners, minor silvering, otherwise in excellent condition.  

French pianist (1852-1933) and composer. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, to a gentleman: “…je reçois avis d’une réunion qui doit avoir lieu après demain mercredi, Salle Pleyel, pour discuter certaines réformes à apporter dans le répartition de mes droits d’auteurs chez Souchon…”.  Size is 4.5 x 6.3 inches, two written pages, central fold, in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an autograph letter signed by the composer Lucien Hillemacher, younger brother of Paul, concerning private issues. 3 pp. In-8.

English keyboardist (performing on harpsichord and clavichord) and musicologist (1826-1903), autograph letter signed, 1 page, written in English, dated in London in 1886. Size is 5 x 8 inches, small creases on edges and small mounting traces near the bottom of the document, otherwise in very good condition.

Polish-American pianist (1876-1957), composer, music teacher, and inventor. Nice black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a long sentiment, dated March 30, 1943. Size is 7.9 x 10 inches, minor creases, few pinholes over the top, in overall excellent condition.

American pianist (1931-2003) who developed an important career in Europe both as a soloist and chamber musician. Hokanson left many recordings, and later in his life became more involved in teaching. Signed promo photo, 4 x 6 inches, in excellent condition.

German pianist (1840-1924), autograph note signed. Written in German, sold untranslated. Written on small postcard, 1 page, size is 5.5 x 3.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Signed photo postcard of the New Zealand classical pianist (1920-2012) who was based in the United Kingdom all his working life. He had a significant artistic association with the composer Sir Lennox Berkeley. Size 3.5 x 5.5 inches.

English composer (1898-1982) and pianist. Album page signed by her. Size is 6.3 x 3.5 inches, in excellent condition. The album page has the signature of the English tenor Maurice D'Oisly (1882-1949) on verso.

Famous Australian pianist (1871-1951) and teacher, toured as a child prodigy, later perfected in Germany and settled in the US after 1914. Hutcheson provided important help to Gershwin when composing his Piano concerto in F, and wrote piano concertos and solo pieces himself. Gorgeous signed photograph, inscribed and dated by him in 1933, 8 x 10 inches, in excellent condition

American pianist (b.1928), who made numerous recordings for RCA and Mercury. Fine black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment;  double ink-stamped on verso by Conciertos Iriberri. Size is 4.75 x 6.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Spanish pianist and teacher (1868-1943).  Beautiful photograph signed by him, inscribed to his pupil -later piano teacher herself, Helen Calbreath, dated in Berlin, 1909.  Size is 6.7 x 9 inches, in very good condition.

Belgian-born American pianist (b.1954). Fine large black and white photograph mounted on a mat signed in black ink by the pianist below. Total size is 11 x 14 inches, actual photograph is 8 x 6.2 inches, in excellent condition.

Famous German pianist, composer and teacher (1785-1849), at his peak, Kalkbrenner was considered by many the best pianist in Europe, and a prolific composer. Autograph note, addressed to the Gentlemen Directors of the Philharmonic Society". Letter reads "Mr Kalkbrenner presents his compliments to the Gentlemen Directors, and would feel much obliged to them if they would let him have back the scores of his Symphonia today, as has to look over some of the parts which never were well corrected. He would likewise thank them to let him know who is to be the leader. Sunday morning, 14 South Malton Street. One folded page, 8 x 9.75 inches (when folded), handwritten only on one side (see scans), in excellent condition, rare.

Czech-born American pianist (1931-2004) who was nominated for a Grammy Award for a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No.17. Beautiful promo photograph signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment, dated 1961, shown young. Size is 8.2 x 10 inches, creases over the top (not affecting signature), in good condition.

Slovakian pianist (1914-1993), who enjoyed a successful career as a recording artist. Nice black-and-white photograph signed by him, shown in performance; ink-stamped on verso by photographer Carmen, Buenos Aires. Size is 4.7 x 7.1 inches, minor damage over the left border, otherwise in excellent condition.

Nice photograph signed and inscribed by him, dated in Rome, 1952, mounted on soft cardboard.  Total size is 6.4 x 8.4 inches, actual photo is 4 x 5.9 inches, in excellent condition.
