French pianist (1860-1951), a pupil of Louis Massart and Henri Herz at the Conservatoire, wife in second marriage to the baryton Louis-Charles Bataille (1822-1872). Collection of four autograph letters in French (untranslated) signed by her.  Letters are addressed to gentlemen concerning music lessons, music programs, and other matters. We report an extract as a sample: "...Aurons-nous le plaisir, mon mari (v. L. Ch. Battaille le baryton bien connu) et moi de faire parti de un des programmes des concerts symphoniques populaires? (...) Nous pourrons venir ensemble ou séparement. Je vous recommande aussi très chaudement le quatuor vocal que mon mari a fondé, qui est absolument remarquable et qu'il serait interessant de faire entendre. À ce propos: Mr. Battaille voulait vous écrire pour vous demander de composer pour eux un quatuor, car tous les compositeur de valeur ont promis d'écrire pour le quatuor. English classical pianist (b. 1952), who performs as a concert soloist as well as a chamber musician. Signed photo, shown as himself. Size is 6 x 8 inches, in excellent condition. 

German pianist (b.1945), with many recordings including the complete works for piano solo by Johannes Brahms. Fine card signed by him attached with his half-tone photograph, shown young. Size is 4.1 x 5.8 inches, in excellent condition.

German pianist (1813-1894) and composer. Autograph letter in French signed by him, no date, to the French conductor and composer Louis-Antoine Jullien (1812-1860): "... I cannot have the pleasure of having you today; I have come to ask you, when you wish to do me the pleasure of coming with Mademoiselle your daughter to my house..." Size is 4.9 x 7.6 inches, overall rust stain, in very good condition.

Polish pianist (1862-1946), an outstanding pupil of Franz Liszt and a friend and colleague of some of the greatest musicians of his age. His original vintage business card signed by him with a short sentiment on the verso, dated in London, June 25, 1895. Size is 3.7 x 2.25 inches, mounting traces on the front, in overall very good condition.

Polish-American pianist (1887-1982) and Moravian-American pianist (1912-1994). Album page signed on the front by Rubinstein with a long sentiment in Buenos Aires, 1940; and signed on the verso by Firkusny with a short sentiment in Buenos Aires, 1943. Size is 4.9 x 3.4 inches, in excellent condition.

Superstar Polish-born American pianist (1887-1982). Album page signed by him. Size is 5.3 x 3.8 inches, tape marks, evident mat burns, otherwise in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an unsigned photograph of him, ink-stamped on verso by photographer Jane Plotz (Johannesburg).

Superstar Polish-born American pianist (1887-1982).  His book "My Young Years" signed boldly by him on the first title page; first edition, 1973, published by Alfred A. Knopf, New York. Size is 6.5 x 9.5 inches, 478 pages, hardcover and dust jacket, some wear and minor stains on the dust jacket (book in excellent condition). ALSO INCLUDED is its external hard cardboard case showing some wear (see pictures).

American pianist (1880-1948), music critic and teacher; second wife of conductor Leopold Stokowski. Group of 4 typed letters signed by her. Each letter is one page, all related to personal matters, dated from 1946 to 1947. Each letter is 7 x 10 inches in size, in excellent condition. SOLD ONLY AS A LOT, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.

Hungarian pianist (1912-2005) and writer, who enjoyed a very important international career. Nice black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment, dated in Rosario (Argentina), 1939, shown young at the piano; ink-stamped on verso by photographer Weinstein (Buenos Aires). Size is 6.6 x 9 inches, in excellent condition.

Hungarian pianist (1912-2005) and writer, whose technique was described as "Lisztian" and his repertoire universal, although later in his career his playing of Bartók was much in demand. Virtuoso Spanish violinist (1844-1908) and Moravian pianist and composer (1846-1907). Autograph album page signed by the virtuoso Spanish violinist (1844-1908) with some few notes, dated in 1898. The album page is also signed by the Moravian pianist and composer with some handwriting over the top quoting two lines of Shakespeare.  Size is 9.25 x 11.4 inches, in excellent condition.

German pianist, composer and teacher (1862-1942), pupil of the legendary Franz Liszt and one of the most distinguished pianists of his time. Great autograph music quote from his 2nd piano concerto, signed by him and dated in Vienna, 1938. Size is 7.75 x 5.25 inches, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a ticket stub with his name for a concert in 1921.

French pianist (1853-1890), and brother of the the French violinist and composer Émile Sauret, who died of mental illness in New York. 8-bar autograph music quote from an unknown work signed and inscribed by him, dated in St. Louis, December 5, 1893.  Size is 7.5 x 4.9 inches, upper border irregularly cut, unknown autograph signature and date on the verso, in overall very good condition.

Size is 4.1 x 7.1 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a photo postcard of the composer with an autograph note on verso signed by him. Size is 5.25 x 3.3 inches, in very good condition.

Autograph letter in German (sold untranslated) signed by him and dated in Berlin, 1906, about musical issues.  Size is 5 x 7.25 inches, 3 written pages, mounting traces on verso, in overall very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a 4-bar autograph music quote from one of his works boldly signed by him and mounted on hard cardboard. Size is 3.8 x 6.1 inches, tape stains over the top, in overall very good condition.

American pianist (1876-1939), composer, and conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Beautiful 2-bar music quote from an unknown piece signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment. Size is 5.1 x 7.6 inches, 1 page, overall rust tone, in excellent condition.  

Russian pianist (b.1963) and winner of the first Rachmaninoff Interantional Piano Competition in 1983. Signed color photo shown in rehearsal. Size is 5 x 6.9 inches, in excellent condition.

Brazilian pianist (1922-2009) and writer of a Biography of Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-lobos. Signed photo postcard, inscribed, with a short sentiment. Stamped on verso by photographer Carmen, Buenos Aires. Size is 3.75 x 5.75 inches, jagged edges, in excellent condition.

Hungarian-born British pianist (b.1953). Set of 2 CDs (vol. 5 & 6) from his integral work "Beethoven The Piano Sonatas" signed by him.  Jewel case's size is 5.5 x 4.9 inches each, in overall very good condition (CDs not tested).

German pianist, composer (1870-1959) and music teacher. Autograph letter signed and dated in Munich, 1929. 1 page in German, sold untranslated. Size is 8.6 x 11 inches, folds, otherwise in very good condition.

Famous Austrian pianist and teacher (1882-1951) and Swiss pianist and conductor (1877-1962). Album page signed by both artists on both sides (one signature by side). Schnabel dated his signature in 1927, Cortot dated his music quote in 1957 in Vienna. Size is 7.1 x 5.75 inches, in excellent condition.

Austrian-American pianist (1882-1951), known for his intellectual seriousness as a musician, avoiding pure technical bravura. Album page signed by him with a short sentiment dated 1947. Size is 5.3 x 6.75 inches, folds, in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a photograph (modern copy) of the composer.

French-born pianist (1888-1982), and also a teacher based in New York. Autograph note in French on a postcard (sold untranslated) signed by him, dated in Vienna, 1910. Size is 5.4 x 3.5 inches, in excellent condition.

German pianist and composer (1911-2002), best known for his song "Lili Marleen". Nice photo postcard signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment, shown in performance, dated in 1981. Size is 5.8 x 4.1 inches, in excellent condition.

German pianist and composer (1819-1896), wife of famous composer Robert Schumann and close friend of Johannes Brahms. Autograph note signed, one page in german, sold untranslated, dated in 1873. It has some folds, otherwise in excellent condition! Size 4 x 6 inches.

German organist (1875-1965), theologian, and musicologist. Black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment dated in 1965, shown at work. Size is 4 x 5.7 inches, in excellent condition.

British pianist and teacher (1911-2007), best known for her partnership with her pianist husband Cyril Smith. Signed photo, with a short sentiment. Size is 3.4 x 4.9 inches, mounting traces on verso, in very good condition.
