Italian contralto (1826-1894); considered one of the greatest contraltos in operatic history. Nice colorized Carte-de-Visite (CDV) of the artist, shown in role, by photographer Mayer & Pierson, Paris.  Size is 2.4 x 4.1 inches, pencil markings on verso, otherwise in excellent condition.

French tenor (1861-1933) whose real name was Raymond Gourron and debuted in 1886 at the Opera of Ghent as Faust in Gounod's opera. Original CDVs and unsigned cabinet photographs of the artist. Italian baritone (1878-1942) who enjoyed an international reputation and sang for 13 years at the Metropolitan Opera. Vintage cabinet photograph of the baritone by Mishkin shown as Jack Rance in Puccini's "La Fanciulla del West" -a role he created in New York, 1910.  Size is 6.3 x 9.4 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian tenor (1874-1915) who died young, vintage cabinet photo showing him in role. Photo is unsigned by Giuseppe Armanini, but by his grandson Luigi, indicating this in Italian and dating his writing in Torino, 1974. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, some wear in corners and rust, otherwise in very good condition. Rare!

Italian soprano (1864-1950) who performed the main soprano role in the world premiere of Cavalleria Rusticana (Santuzza) and the title role in the world premiere of Fedora. Unsigned cabinet photo, shown young as herself. A photo by Giacomo Brogi, Florence, size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Belgian soprano Lucie Berthet (1866-1941) and French contralto Fayolle (first name unknown) vintage unsigned cabinet photo, shown as Ortlinde and Rossweise, respectively, in Wagner's Die Walkure, most likely taken during the opera's Paris premiere. Gold embossing on front and stamped on verso by photographer Benque, Paris. Size is 6.25 x 8.25 inches, beautiful evocative image in excellent condition.

Famous German bass-baritone (1835-1900), creator of the role of Hans Sachs in the World Premiere of Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg in 1868 and also the first Wotan in the first complete cycle of Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen performed in 1876. Unsigned CDV, shown as himself. Seal on verso of Reichard and Linder photographers, Berlin. Size is 2.4 x 3.9 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian tenor (1860-1925) and singing teacher who enjoyed an international career. Beautiful cabinet-style photograph by Falk, New York. Size is 4.2 x 6.5 inches, small loss of paper over the lower border, crease over the upper-right corner, minor stains, otherwise in very good condition.

Polish star tenor (1850-1925). Nice vintage cabinet photograph of him shown as Rodrigue in Massenet's "Le Cid" by photographer Benque (Paris), mounted on a mat. Total size is 7.25 x 9.5 inches, actual photo is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, with some damage and minor loss of paper in all four corners.  

French contralto (1875-1932), unsigned cabinet photo, by Paul Boyer, Paris. Shown in the world premiere of La Vivandiere (opera by Benjamin Godard). Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian superstar soprano (1811-1869), who performed widely in Europe, the United States, and South America, and was among the leading sopranos of the XIX century. An original and unsigned Carte-de-Visite (CDV) of the soprano shown as herself, by Photographic Portrait of Imperial & Eminent Personages of the Age. Size is 2.3 x 3.8 inches, ink markings on verso, in excellent condition.

Italian mezzo-soprano (1871-1948), who participated in the world premiere of Verdi's "Falstaff" and Catalani's "La Wally". Original cabinet-style photograph of the artist (shown probably as Carmen) by photographer Antoni Esplugas (Barcelona). Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, front in excellent condition, spotted rust stains on verso, ink-stamped on verso.

Czech-born baritone (1842-1906), already famous in Germany when he was chosen to create the role of Gunther in the world premiere of Wagner's Die Gotterdammerung in Bayreuth, August 1876. Attractive vintage mini-cabinet photo, shown in role. Photo by Eulenstein, Leipzig. Size is 2.5 x 4 inches, in excellent condition.

Famous Belgian soprano (1851-1886) who died young, Heilbronn created the role of Manon in the 1884 world premiere, just 2 years before her passing away. Unsigned cabinet photo, shown as Manon!. A photo by Nadar, Paris, 4.25 x 6.5 inches, minor silvering around borders, markings in pencil on the back, otherwise in excellent condition.

American soprano (1840-1862) who died at a very young age, when she was starting a very promising career. Hinckley became very famous in the last few years of her life and was called "the Jenny Lind of America". Unsigned carte-de-visite, shown probably in role. A photo by Silsbee, Case & Co., Boston, size is 2.5 x 4.25 inches, some ink markings on verso, otherwise in very good condition. Very rare!

French bass (1868-1933), who starred in the world premiere performances of Arrigo Boito's Nerone.  Beautiful unsigned cabinet photograph, shown as himself, a photo by Aime Dupont, New York. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, in excellent condition. 

Russian baritone (1854-1919), set of 3 unsigned photographs mounted on cardboard, one of them in the title role in Eugene Onegin, sized 4.25 x 6 inches. Set of 2 unsigned CDV's of the "Mariani sisters", Maddalena Mariani-Masi, Italian soprano (1850-1916) who created the title role of Ponchielli's La Gioconda at its world premiere performances at La Scala, Milan in 1876 and her sister Flora Mariani (dates unknown). Each is sized 2.5 x 4.1 inches, very slight paper loss on top right of Maddalena Mariani-Masi photo, otherwise in excellent condition. Attractive vintage items, not sold separately.

Star Australian soprano (1861-1931), who became one of the most famous singers of the late Victorian Era and the 20th century for her beautiful voice and technique. Fine cabinet photographic portrait of the acclaimed Australian coloratura soprano, by photographer Benque & Co. Size is 4.75 x 8 inches, in very good condition.

French soprano (1827-1895), who was the first Marguerite in the world premiere of Faust, and Juliette in the premiere of Romeo et Juliette, among other important operas. Unsigned carte-de-visite (CDV) by A. Maze, Paris, shown as Marguerite, the role she created in the world premiere of Faust. Size is 2.4 x 3.9 inches, in excellent condition.

French soprano (1846-?) at the Opéra Comique, who debuted in Les Huguenots as Marguerite de Valois in 1875. Beautiful carte-de-visite (CDV) photograph (1873) of her by photographer Le Jeune (Paris) mounted on cardboard. Total size is 4.2 x 6.4 inches, ink markings, in overall very good condition.

French soprano, debutant at the Opéra in 1875, and lover of the French officer Ferdinand Esterhazy (1847-1923). Nice cabinet photograph of her from 1878 by photographer Ferdinand Mulnier (Paris). Size is 4.2 x 9.2 inches, ink writing over the bottom, big crack over the left border affecting the image, otherwise in good condition.

Russian soprano (1864-1914), and aunt of the celebrated conductor Yevgeny Mravinsky. Nice cabinet photograph of the singer with her pet; an official photo by the Imperial Mariinksy Theater.  Size is 4.2 x 6.4 inches, in excellent condition

German tenor (1835-1902), renowned for his performances of Wagnerian roles. Vintage carte-de-visite (CDV) of the tenor by photographer T. Eulenstein (Leipzig). Size is 2.4 x 4 inches, some spotted rust, in very good condition.

Star Swedish soprano (1843-1921), a fantastic bel canto singer, one of the most important opera stars of her time who sang at the inauguration night of the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
