Fantastic photograph signed by 4 US presidents together at the White House, October 8th, 1981. Former presidents Nixon, Ford and Carter arrived by helicopter and were greeted by president Ronald Reagan, meeting with them for around half an hour before they left for Andrews Air Force Base, where they would board a plane to Cairo, Egypt. Ford, Carter and Nixon attended the funeral of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, who had been assasinated two days earlier. Reagan, who had survived his own assasination attempt just 6 months earlier, decided was too risky to attend Sadat´s funeral. Instead, the 3 former presidents, including Carter, who had brokered peace between Egypt and Israel, served as the American delegation. This photo was the retirement gift to Helen Colle Donaldson Hollers (1918-2013), who served as White House Appointments Secretary to all 4 presidents (and 5 more!) during her 43 years of service. Size is 8 x 10 inches, some tape traces on verso, othewise in excellent condition.
