French composer (1874-1952), his prolific career focused mostly on songs and operettas, as well as film music. Signed photo postcard, shown inspecting a score; photo is blind-stamped on the front by photographer C. Jacomin. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, creases at the top and lower right corner, otherwise in good cond. Rare!

French composer (1865-1949), pedagogue and musicographer, his output as a composer focused mostly on religious music. Fine photograph signed by him with a short poem below, dated in 1936; photo by photographer (illegible name -who also signed in pencil). Size is 6.25 x 9.5 inches, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a Cycle of the Fifths, a music logical tool made of 3 cardboard pieces attached together, often used to represent the relationships between diatonic scales. This tool was designed by him, printed with "Property of the author" and his name and printed signature, diameter of 9.8 inches, minor rust, in very good condition (see scans of front and verso). Rare!

Austrian-born American pianist (1903-1991), widely regarded as one of the greatest Beethoven interpreters of the 20th century. Signature cut matted with a black-and-white photograph of him, mounted on a larger piece of red cardboard. Total size is 5.9 x 8.9 inches, in excellent condition.

Russian-Ukrainian Soviet composer (1887-1966), and music professor, creator of orchestral and vocal music, as well as soundtracks for early sound films. Gorgeous photograph signed and inscribed by him, dated in 1935. Size is 4.75 x 7.1 inches, in very good condition.

American composer (b.1937) of music for films, stage, and TV.  Fantastic black-and-white photograph signed by him in black ink with a short sentiment, adding a short music quote from his awarded theme song "It Goes as It Goes" for the film Norma Rae (1979) in blue ink.  Size is 8 x 10 inches, in excellent condition.

American songwriter and composer (b. 1937), of musicals films and television. Signed photo, shown at the piano. Size is 8 x 10 inches. 

Russian composer (1906-1975) and pianist, regarded throughout his life as a major composer. Black-and-white half-tone photograph signed by him in pencil in 1963 (probably a clip from a program). Size is 3.9 x 5.1 inches, in very good condition.

Finnish composer (1865-1957), one of the most famous Scandinavian composers whose music played an important role in the formation of the Finnish national identity. Truly nice sepia photograph, mounted on a photographer soft mat, signed below by him in black crayon. Large, very clear signature by the composer, total size of this item is 6.9 x 9.8 inches. There is a crease/fold across, near the center, not affecting the signature, otherwise in very good condition.

Italian opera composer (1854-1929) who composed 10 opera, 3.5 x 5 inch postcard photograph of him mounted on solid cardboard, with his signature and inscription of the cardboard, dated in 1918. Total item size is 6.75 x 10 inches, in very good condition. 

Czech composer (1824-1884), considered by some the father of Czech music, Smetana is today best remembered for his highly popular opera The Bartered Bride and his symphonic cycle Ma Vlast (My Homeland). Large signature on a piece of paper (signature cut), from a document or letter, matted with an original cabinet photograph of the composer to a total size of 10 x 15 inches, signature is 4.9 x 1.7 inches (opening size, actual item is a bit larger). There is 2nd signature by Smetana on verso, but quite smaller (not shown). Mounted on the mat is also an original cabinet photo by J. Mulac, Prague, size is 4.3 x 6.5 inches, in excellent condition, mounted with photo corners and easy to remove if desired. Autographs of Smetana are extremely rare.

American composer and lyricist (1930-2021), known for his contributions to musical theater. Fine black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment. Size is 7.9 x 9.9 inches, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a typed letter with his letterhead signed by him from 1975. Size is 5.75 x 7.7 inches, central fold, in very good condition.

Belgian composer (1899-1970), conductor, musicologist, and writer associated with the surrealist movement. Large card attached with a card with his half-tone photograph and a card signed by him with a short sentiment. Size is 3.83 x 5.9 inches, in very good condition.

American composer (1874-1961), pianist and accompanist. Large photograph signed by him with a double music quote from his works "dance of swords" (2 bars) and "Nourah" (3 bars), inscribed and dated by him in 1916. Size is 9 x 12.9 inches, overall rust toning but in very good condition.

American composer (1877-1949), and also a teacher and conductor. Fine sepia photograph signed and inscribed by him mounted on a photographer mat by Crosby (New Haven). Total size is 7.5 x 11.5 inches, photo size is 4.5 x 6.5 inches (visible window size), in excellent condition.

French-born Argentine composer (1881-1934) and first director of the Teatro Colon Coro Estable in 1925. Nice photo postcard of Pietro Mascagni signed by Stiattessi adding a short 4-bar music quote. Size is 3.5 x 5.4 inches, crease over the upper-right corner, minor rust stains, in overall very good condition.

American composer (1857-1944) and organist, known for his "New England Symphony". Fine black-and-white photograph signed by him with a short sentiment dated 1933 and a beautiful music quote from the New England Symphony. Size is 8 x 10 inches, small damages in all four corners, mounting traces on verso, in overall very good condition.

Austrian composer and conductor (1869-1919), wrote songs and duets, made very early recordings as a conductor. Nice cabinet photograph by E. Bieber, Berlin-Hamburg, signed and dated in 1907 by the composer. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, minor damage at the top and mounting traces on verso, otherwise in very good condition.

Star Austrian composer of operettas, waltzes and light music (1814-1899), regarded in his time and even today as the "Waltz King". Signature cut (probably from an autograph album), matted with a nice vintage print of the composer. Total size is 9.8 x 11.25 inches, signature cut is 3.75 x 1.6 inches, all in excellent condition - ready to frame if desired. See full scan and detailed scan. 

Austrian composer (1825-1899), world-famous for his waltzes and operettas, a member of a large family of musicians, Strauss was known as "The Waltz King".  Signed cabinet photo, shown young, inscribed to Paula von Goldschmidt (knee Paula Kurz, 1854-1940), wife of Austrian composer Adalbert von Goldschmidt (1848-1906). Paula von Goldschmidt was a singer, and premiered many songs composed by her husband Adalbert in the Salon am Opernring in Vienna. Prominent guests there were Liszt, Bruckner, Hugo Wolf and Johann Strauss (II), so this probably was signed and inscribed to her in one of the concerts. Size is 4.1 x 6.6 inches, an original cabinet photo by Bergamasco, St. Petersburg. Repaired cracks and loss of paper at the top center, not affecting the signature, rust on verso and irregular borders, but in overall good condition.

Löwy (Vienna, 1897) boldly signed and inscribed with a long sentiment by the composer over the bottom. Total size is 6.3 x 8.3 inches, some wear on edges, mounting damage on verso, in overall very good condition.

German composer (1864-1949) and conductor, best known for his tone poems and operas; considered a successor of Wagner and Liszt. Beautiful half-tone photograph (probably from a program or magazine) of the Berlin premiere in 1911 of Richard Strauss' opera "Der Rosenkavalier" signed by the composer himself and other eight artists, mounted on soft cardboard. Size is 10.75 x 6.7 inches, some wrinkles, cracks, and rust stain at the center, all signatures are clearly visible, and in overall fair condition. Signatures from left to right: German tenor Waldemar Henke (1876-1945), someone named Brandt,  German regisseur Georg Droscher (1854-1945), German soprano Claire Dux (1885-1967), composer Richard Strauss, German conductor Karl Muck (1859-1940), German theater director Georg von Holsen (1858-1922), German bass Paul Knupfer (1865-1920), German baritone Baptiste Hoffmann (1863-1937)    

German opera composer (1864-1949), one of the greatest of the 20th century, whose best-known works are Elektra, Salome, and Der Rosenkavalier. Beautiful cabinet photo of signed by Strauss twice; photo by Albert Meyer, Berlin, blind-stamped on the front with the year 1906. The first signature is in black ink at the bottom with the written text "Hamburg" below in his handwriting. The second signature is over the top of his head, in blue ink. On verso, a text in ink by a different hand reads "Heard Dr. Strauss in a song recital with Fraulein Schumann... Nov 21st, 1921". Size is 4.1 x 6.5 inches, in very good condition. VERY rare! Richard Strauss toured America in 1921 with soprano Elisabeth Schumann, and on November 21st they performed in St. Louis with Schumann singing Strauss songs and Strauss at the piano.

This very rare photographic image depicts the German composer and his hand, with the photographer's handwritten notes on verso, dated 8 April 1917. Size is 12.25 x 12.25 inches, in very good condition.

Russian, later French and American composer (1882-1971), widely considered one of the most important of the 20th century. Signed photo, shown from behind at the podium conducting, on the occasion of a performance of his violin concerto at Hollywood High School, 1940, by the American violinist and friend Sol Babitz (1911-1982). Stravinsky inscribed this photo to Batitz, and dated his signature on Oct 27th, 1940. This is an original photograph by Otto Rothschild, who stamped on ink on verso, size is 10 x 8 inches. Minor tape residues over borders and some small creases, otherwise in very good condition.

Prominent Italian composer, conductor and vocal teacher, coached such great artists as Enrico Caruso, Mario Bonci, Leo Slezak, Johanna Gadski, Geraldine Farrar, Emmy Destinn, and Louise Homer, among others. Signed 3 x 4.5 inch photograph, mounted onto cabinet-style backing, inscribed and dated in Buenos Aires in 1905. Total item size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, attractive vintage item in excellent condition.

Great photograph signed and inscribed by the composer with a bold and very clear signature. Photo is blind-stamped by famous photographer Barrett Gallagher (1913-1994). Magnificent, larger size cabinet photograph, signed by Tchaikovsky, and dated in 1887. Tchaikovsky inscribes this photo to Russian composer Anatoli Lyadov (1855-1914), a close friend of him. Size is 5.1 x 8.3 inches, the largest signed photo we have seen of him, a photo by Charles Reutinger, Paris, some trimming at the bottom, wear on corners, in very good condition.
