Italian composer and pianist (1875-1954), best known today for his operas Cyrano de Bergerac and Resurrezione and for having completed the music of Puccini´s opera Turandot in 1926, after the composer´s death. Autograph letter signed by him, dated in San Remo in 1943, concerning music business, probably to a conductor ("Caro Maestro"...). Alfano refers to the situation of the musical theater with disappointment. In Italian, sold with a transcription and translation. One page with his letterhead at the top, handwritten on both sides, signed at the end, Size is 7.7 x 10.1 inches, folds, in excellent condition.

French composer (1782-1871), who focused mostly on opera, composing almost 50 of them - his most important creations include Fra Diavolo and La Muette de Portici. Autograph letter signed by him, dated in Paris on January 31st, 1849, to the director of an opera house, on letterhead from the Conservatoire National de Musique et Declamation, Paris. Letter is in French, and is sold untranslated. Auber respectfully asks to borrow a few accessories only to be found in this person´s theater, for an upcoming performance of La Gazza Ladra (La Pie Voleuse, in French) by students of the Conservatoire. Auber mentions that in the past, a previous director has agreed to help. One page, sized 5 x 8 inches, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a vintage print of the composer, sized 9.25 x 12.5 inches (actual image is 7.5 x 5.75 inches), a perfect companion to the letter if framed together. See photos.

Irish composer (1808-1870), best known for his opera The Bohemian Girl and other operatic works. Balfe was also conductor and pursued a career as a singer as well. Autograph note signed, to famous Italian soprano Fanny Persiani (1812-1867) (who created the role of Lucia di Lammermoor in the 1835 world premiere). Balfe is asking her to replace nothing less than Giulia Grisi in a terzetto from his opera Falstaff (Grisi performed at the 1838 world premiere in London), probably in an upcoming concert performance.  One page, 5.25 x 4 inches, signed as Balfe, some toning over the lower border, otherwise in very good condition.

Letter handwritten and signed by him, dated in Paris, May 22nd, 1835 - this is shortly before his death in September of the same year. Written in Italian, sold untranslated, Bellini is asking someone to help his friend Count Barbó who is coming to Paris. He was a distinguished violinist, worked 7 years as first violinist of the NY Philharmonic. Autograph manuscript with 2 full pages in separate sheets, with music for a cadenza to Mozart´s "Exsultate Jubilate" (K165) for soprano, inscribed to Russian soprano Maria Kurenko (1890-1980), who signed and inscribed this manuscript on the back of page 2. Each page is 9.4 x 12.5 inches, minor cracks, but overall in very good condition.

Berlioz was also a prolific writer and music critic. Autograph note signed by him, undated, in French, to famous violinist Joseph Joachim, probably from or around 1853 (pencil markings on another hand, indicating Leipzig, Dec 13th, 1853). Autograph note signed and dated by him in 1870, in French, untranslated, responding to a friend who invited him to meet.
