French composer and conductor (1904-2003), leader of important music organizations in France and the USA. Fantastic black and white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment, shown at the piano; ink-stamped on verso by photographer Richards, Tacoma, USA.  Size is 10 x 8 inches, pencil markings indicating dated February 15th, 1949, minor creases, in overall very good condition.

Italian born composer and pianist (1906-1986), who was also a teacher and lived most of his life in Argentina. He created mainly concertos and orchestral music. Signed photo, inscribed and dated in 1952. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian composer (1847-1904) who also developed a successful career as a teacher of singing both in Europe and the USA. Beautiful cabinet photograph signed by him and Inscribed to superstar singer Francesco Tamagno. Photograph is also handwritten and signed on verso; photo by Holland Roberts, Boston. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, in very good condition.

American composer (1858-1947), organist, and teacher. Black-and-white signed and inscribed by him in 1943, shown in rehearsal. Size is 7 x 4.9 inches, in very good condition.

Polish composer, conductor and author (1913-2004).  Signed photograph of him sitting at a desk with a composition in front of him, signed and inscribed on verso, dated in 1998. Stamped on verso by photographer B. Lutoslawski, Krakow. Size is 5 x 6.5 inches, slight paper loss on edges, otherwise in excellent condition. Also included: Autograph musical quote signed with music he composed for the text of the old Polish poem Planctus, a 4.5 x 6.5 inch paper in excellent condition. Not sold separately. 

German composer (1844-1919), creator of symphonies, violin concertos, overtures, chamber music works, and operas. Nice cabinet photograph signed and inscribed by the composer, dated in Berlin, 1896; photo by Johannes Hulsen. Size is 4.25 x 6.4 inches, minor damage over lower right corner, otherwise in very good condition.

Finnish composer (1952-2023) whose works are rich in polyphonic textures combining live music and electronics. Nice color informal photograph signed by her. Size is 4 x 6 inches, in excellent condition.

French composer (1835-1921), organist, conductor, and pianist of the romantic era. Beautiful drawing of the composer handmade by the Italian artist Cesare A. Musacchio (1882-1956) signed by the composer and by the artist. The drawing is ink-stamped on verso by the artist with the legend "Proprieta Riservata". Size is 12.7 x 18.25 inches, in very good condition.

French composer (1835-1921), organist, conductor, and pianist of the Romantic era. Beautiful black-and-white photograph of a sculpture of the composer by the French sculptor Laurent Marqueste (1848-1920) mounted on hard cardboard signed by the famous composer in 1907 over the lower-right corner, and also signed and inscribed by the sculptor with a short sentiment over the lower-left corner.   Total size is 11.25 x 15.6 inches, silvering around borders, in excellent condition.

Austrian composer (1900-1975), who was also clarinetist and conductor. Salmhofer created operas, ballets, film music and more. Signed photo postcard, size is 3.4 x 5.4 inches. Stamped on verso by photographer Atelier Dietrich, Vienna, in excellent condition.

Guatemalan-born American composer (1903-1953), creator of many songs including "Eres Tú" recorded by the Italian star tenor Beniamino Gigli. Black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment, shown young at the piano. Size is 9.9 x 8.1 inches, horizontal crease not affecting signature, otherwise in very good condition.

French violinist and composer (1852-1920), who wrote over 100 pieces for violin. Beautiful cabinet photograph of the violinist by photographer R. Krziwanek (Vienna) signed by Sauret at the bottom. Size is 4.5 x 6.5 inches, in very good condition.

Yugoslavian composer (1881-1949), who created the opera "Xenia" in 1919, moved to Canada, became director of the Institute of Musical Art in New York (1922-24), later moved to Chicago. Signed photo, inscribed and dated in Chicago in 1930. Blind stamped by photographer Link Studio. Size is 10 x 8 inches, double-weight photo paper, in excellent condition.

Greek composer and singer-songwriter (b. 1944), signed photo, shown performing a flute. Size is 5 x 7 inches, in excellent condition.

Canadian-born composer (1933-2021), environmentalist, and also an educator. Black-and-white half-tone photograph (printed on photographic paper) signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment, shown young; ink-stamped on verso by Peak Publications (B.C., Canada).  Size is 7.8 x 9.8 inches, in excellent condition. Argentine-American pianist and composer (b.1932) of over 100 scores for films, television and video games.  Signed photo, sized 8 x 10 inches, in very good condition.

Argentine-american pianist and composer (b.1932), of over 100 scores for films, television and video games, including Mannix, Mission Impossible, The Rise and Fall of the 3rd Reich, The Four Musketeers, etc. Signed photo, sized 5 x 7 inches, in very good condition.

German composer, conductor and theater director (1868-1933), known for his opera "Mona Lisa", which was an international success, and German soprano (1881-1959) and his wife.  First edition of this opera´s libretto, boldly signed by him, with a short music quote, inscribed and dated apparently in Berlin in 1931, in the first blank page after the title page. Barbara Kemp also signed below, dating her signature in 1950.  The opera was world premiered in 1915 in Stuttgart, Germany, and was premiered in North America at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 1923, with Barbara Kemp for the main soprano role.  Libretto also includes 2 signed photo postcards, one for each composer Max von Schillings and Barbara Kemp, that have been attached (glued) to the back of the frontend page and the first blank page, before the title pages (see scans). Front end pages have a written text quote by an unknown hand, probably past ownership (see scan). Luxurious red hardcovers embossed in gold text, 5.25 x 7.25 inches, most probably not the original covers but added later, 76 numbered pages plus some extra pages with advertisements on the back. In very good condition.

Italian-born Argentinian composer (1885-1963), he was also a teacher, his music focused on a nationalist tendency. Signed photo and autograph music quote signed, with 6 bars from his symphonic poem ¨Los Incas¨, inscribed and dated in Cordoba, Argentina, 1949. Photo is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, with serrated borders, music quote is 8.6 x 5.5 inches, both in excellent condition.

German composer and conductor (1902-1987). Fantastic black-and-white photograph signed by the composer on verso with a 2-bar music quote inscribed and dated in Hamburg, 1936.  Size is 6.6 x 8.8 inches, small magazine clip attached on verso at the bottom, otherwise in excellent condition.

German composer (1874-1953). Black-and-white photograph signed by him on the front and on its verso with a short autograph note dated 1939 with his ink stamp. Size is 3.4 x 5.25 inches, in excellent condition.

Austrian composer (1913-1987), conductor, music educator, and president of the Austrian Composers Association for several years. Beautiful black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment in German, dated in Vienna, April 19, 1966; ink-stamped on verso by Foto K. Romer (Linz).  Size is 3.4 x 5.4 inches, jagged edges, in excellent condition.

German pianist and composer (1911-2002), best known for his song "Lili Marleen". Nice photo postcard signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment, shown in performance, dated in 1981. Size is 5.8 x 4.1 inches, in excellent condition.

English composer (1879-1970) who created around four hundred musical compositions. Fine half-tone photograph (a page from a program or magazine) signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment dated 1921. Size is 6.75 x 7.4 inches, minor rust stains, in very good condition.

French composer (1874-1952), his prolific career focused mostly on songs and operettas, as well as film music. Signed photo postcard, shown inspecting a score; photo is blind-stamped on the front by photographer C. Jacomin. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, creases at the top and lower right corner, otherwise in good cond. Rare!

Spanish classical guitarist (1893-1987), considered one of the greatest guitar virtuosos of all times, and also well-known for this transcriptions of classical music works. Fine sepia photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment. Size is 8 x 9.9 inches, in very good condition.

French composer (1865-1949), pedagogue and musicographer, his output as a composer focused mostly on religious music. Fine photograph signed by him with a short poem below, dated in 1936; photo by photographer (illegible name -who also signed in pencil). Size is 6.25 x 9.5 inches, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a Cycle of the Fifths, a music logical tool made of 3 cardboard pieces attached together, often used to represent the relationships between diatonic scales. This tool was designed by him, printed with "Property of the author" and his name and printed signature, diameter of 9.8 inches, minor rust, in very good condition (see scans of front and verso). Rare!

Russian-Ukrainian Soviet composer (1887-1966), and music professor, creator of orchestral and vocal music, as well as soundtracks for early sound films. Gorgeous photograph signed and inscribed by him, dated in 1935. Size is 4.75 x 7.1 inches, in very good condition.

American composer (b.1937) of music for films, stage, and TV.  Fantastic black-and-white photograph signed by him in black ink with a short sentiment, adding a short music quote from his awarded theme song "It Goes as It Goes" for the film Norma Rae (1979) in blue ink.  Size is 8 x 10 inches, in excellent condition.

American songwriter and composer (b. 1937), of musicals films and television. Signed photo, shown at the piano. Size is 8 x 10 inches. 

Finnish composer (1865-1957), one of the most famous Scandinavian composers whose music played an important role in the formation of the Finnish national identity. Truly nice sepia photograph, mounted on a photographer soft mat, signed below by him in black crayon. Large, very clear signature by the composer, total size of this item is 6.9 x 9.8 inches. There is a crease/fold across, near the center, not affecting the signature, otherwise in very good condition.

Italian opera composer (1854-1929) who composed 10 opera, 3.5 x 5 inch postcard photograph of him mounted on solid cardboard, with his signature and inscription of the cardboard, dated in 1918. Total item size is 6.75 x 10 inches, in very good condition. 

Czech composer (1824-1884), considered by some the father of Czech music, Smetana is today best remembered for his highly popular opera The Bartered Bride and his symphonic cycle Ma Vlast (My Homeland). Large signature on a piece of paper (signature cut), from a document or letter, matted with an original cabinet photograph of the composer to a total size of 10 x 15 inches, signature is 4.9 x 1.7 inches (opening size, actual item is a bit larger). There is 2nd signature by Smetana on verso, but quite smaller (not shown). Mounted on the mat is also an original cabinet photo by J. Mulac, Prague, size is 4.3 x 6.5 inches, in excellent condition, mounted with photo corners and easy to remove if desired. Autographs of Smetana are extremely rare.

American composer and lyricist (1930-2021), known for his contributions to musical theater. Fine black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment. Size is 7.9 x 9.9 inches, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a typed letter with his letterhead signed by him from 1975. Size is 5.75 x 7.7 inches, central fold, in very good condition.

Belgian composer (1899-1970), conductor, musicologist, and writer associated with the surrealist movement. Large card attached with a card with his half-tone photograph and a card signed by him with a short sentiment. Size is 3.83 x 5.9 inches, in very good condition.
