Dutch conductor (1871-1951), famous for his performances of music by Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam.
Signed book with the score of Mahler´s 7th Symphony, full orchestral version, published by Ernst Eulenburg, Leipzig/Vienna. Edition in reduced size (book is 5.5 x 7.3 inches), luxurious hard covers, 400+ pages, some wear on covers otherwise in very fine condition.
Mengelberg signs on the first page, writing in German "war ein genie" ("was a genius") under Mahler´s printed name, and dating in Budapest, 1941. He was a friend of Mahler, and championed the performance of his works in the Netherlands, as well as in Hungary and Germany. This is a great testimony of it.
ALSO INCLUDED is a nice photo postcard of the conductor in performance, 3.5 x 4.8 inches.
