American politician and diplomat (b.1937), an immigrant from the Czech republic, Albright was the first female Secretary of State in the United States (1997-2001) under Bill Clinton. Signed book, published by Miramax Books, 2003, signature is on the title page, inscribed. Hardcovers, dust jacket, 562 pages, 6.5 x 9.5 inches, in excellent condition.

American music critic and writer (1935-2001), famous for his work as music critic and his 4 books about soprano Maria Callas.  Signed book "Maria Callas - The Art and the Life", inscribed and signed in the first title page by Ardoin, dated in 1980. Written in collaboration with Gerald Fitzgerald, published by Holt, Rinehart and Winston, first edition, 1974. Book with many black and white illustrations and text. A total of 282 numbered pages, hardcovers, dust jacket, 9.25 x 12.25 inches, dust jacket has some cracks and minor folds, book itself is in excellent condition.

American actress (1924-2014), named the 20th-greatest female star of classic Hollywood cinema by the American Film Institute; active in films between 1942-2014. French-born dancer (1927-2007), choreographer and opera director who ran the Béjart Ballet Lausanne in Switzerland, and developed a popular expressionistic form of modern ballet, talking vast themes.  His book "La Flute Enchantée" signed by him with a long sentiment, Alain Béjart (with a short sentiment), and Alain Duault (with a short sentiment) on the first title page.  Published by Albin Michelle Avana Scéne, Paris, 1982, 1st edition, 155 pages, with many black-and-white photographs.  Size is 8.5 x 11.6 inches, hard covers, dust jacket, some wear on the dust jacket, book in excellent condition.

American playwright (1853-1931), theatrical producer, impresario, and director, who pioneered many innovative new forms of stage lighting and special effects in order to create realism and naturalism. French edition of the book "Deburai" by Sacha Guitry, premiered in France in 1918 at the Belasco Theatre in 1920, signed by Belasco on the second blank page with a short sentiment, dated in October 1927. Size is 9.5 x 11.8 inches, 179 pages plus extras and covers, missing back cover, front cover in poor shape, book in very good condition.

American playwright (1853-1931), theatrical producer, impresario, director, and pioneer of many innovative new forms of stage lighting and special effects. Book titled "Plays Under the Stage Direction of David Belasco" signed, inscribed, and dated by Belasco on April 3, 1925, over the frontend page.  The book was printed in New York, in 1925 (no editor or publisher was mentioned), 47 pages.  Size is 6 x 8.7 inches, some tape on the binding, in overall good condition.  

Star American composer and conductor (1918-1990). Bernstein was the first conductor born and educated in the US to receive world-wide acclaim, and is known for conducting the NY Philharmonic Orchestra for years and some of his compositions. Biographical book by John Briggs, signed by Leonard Bernstein on the frontend page, first edition by The World Publishing Company, 1961. Hardcovers, dust jacket, 273 numbered pages, includes a central section with many black and white photographs. Size is 5.75 x 8.5 inches, small sticker with name of previous owner on the back of the title page. Dust jacket has a small crack and shows minimal signs of wear, book is in excellent condition.

Star American composer and conductor (1918-1990), who was the first conductor born and educated in the US to receive worldwide acclaim. Vocal score for Beethoven's "Misa Solemnis" for choir, soloists, and piano signed by the star American conductor on the first blank page, dated by another hand on January 29, 1969. The vocal score has Bernstein's own rehearsal markings made with a red pencil for the preparation of the work. Size is 6.75 x 10.2 inches, 141 pages, soft covers, handmade plasticized front cover, inside in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a mugshot of the conductor during the rehearsals.

Her book "Daughter of Destiny" signed and inscribed by her on the front end page, published by Simon & Schuster, 1989, 1st Edition; the book includes some black and white photographs. Signed book, "Promises to Keep: On Life and Politics", published by Random House Trade Paperbacks, 2008, first published by Random House in 2007. A total of 365 numbered pages plus extras, soft covers, signed by Biden on full title page, dated by him on Oct 30th, 2008.  Size is 5.1 x 8 inches, certified authentic by us, and there is also a 3rd party certificate of authenticity inside by a company we are not familiar with.

American explorer, politician and academic (1875-1956). Hiram Bingham III is famous for bringing the ruins of Machu Picchu (Peru) of the Incas to the world´s attention when he discovered them in 1911, later becoming a US senator and Governor of Connecticut.  Signed book "Elihu Yale", about the merchant who gave the name to Yale University, where Bingham was an academic. First edition, 1939, by Dodd, Mead and Company, New York, hardcovers, 362 pages, Bingham signed and inscribed the book on the frontend page, with a Christmas greetings, inscribed, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an original National Geographic Magazine from April, 1913, the famous issue where his now celebrated 1912 expedition (sponsored by the NGS) and the discovery of Machu Picchu are described. A very long article which takes the entire issue, and includes 244 illustrations, magazine is 6.8 x 10 inches, in very good condition.

Swedish soprano (1910-2006) and wife of the celebrated Swedish tenor Jussi Bjorling. Her book (presentation copy) "Jussi" signed by her and co-author Andrew Farkas on an attached bookplate on verso of the front cover, and signed again and inscribed by Mr. Farkas with a short sentiment opposite the bookplate, dated on November 8th, 1996. Published by Amadeus Press, Portland, Oregon, 1996. Size is 6.5 x 9.2 inches, 456 pages, hardcovers, dust jacket, many interesting pictures and a facsimile signature of the famous tenor on his photo on the first title page.

Argentinians short-story writer, essayist and poet (1899-1986), and a key figure in the Spanish-language and universal literature. Signed poetry book, "El Hacedor", first edition, Emecé Editores, 1960. Borges signed on the first blank page, 112 pages, 5 x 7.25 inches, softcover, minor damage on spine, otherwise in very good condition.

Limited edition book, signed on the first page both by composer Benjamin Britten and illustrator Sidney Nolan, published by Faber Music, London. A facsimile of the original score of the piece with the same name, with full color, full page illustrations by Nolan.  An edition of only 1000 copies, of which 300 were signed by both composer and artist, this one is number 167, published celebrating the 60th birthday of Britten. Elmina Evangelia "Litsa" Callas (1894-1982) was the mother of star soprano Maria Callas. Published in 1960, this is the first edition of her book about her daughter Maria Callas, as she remembers her first years, the years in Athens during the occupation in WWII, her first teachers, and more. Rare signed copy of her book, with Evangelia´s signature on the back of the first blank page, inscribed by her and dated in New York in 1960. First edition, hardcovers, original dust jacket with lots of wear, book is in excellent condition.

Italian-American film director, producer and writer (1897-1991), creator of several major award-winning films in the 1930s and 40s. Signed book "The Films of Frank Capra", first edition, 1977, Citadel Press, Seacaucus, New Jersey, USA. Capra signed on the title page, together with the 2 authors of this book, who also inscribed it on the frontend page. Bulgarian-born environmental artist (1935-2020), his full name is Christo Vladimirov Yavachev. Christo is famous for his works with his now deceased wife Jeanne-Claude and his own. Signed book "The Umbrellas" about the joint project for Japan and USA which led to an exhibition in June-July 1989. Published by the Guy Pieters Gallery, Belgium. Christo signs on the title page of this bilingual (in English and Japanese) book full of pictures. Size is 9.75 x 9.75 inches, in excellent condition. Also included is a separate, 2-page printout that explains about the project.

British molecular biologist (1916-2004), most noted for being a co-discoverer of the structure of the DNA molecules in 1953, which awarded him the 1962 Nobel Prize in Medicine. American broadcast journalist (1916-2009), and anchorman for CBS News for 19 years. Great edition of his book "Eye on the World", signed by him on the title page. "Eye on the World" is a book about his career, with many black and white photographs and information.  Size is 8 x 10.25 inches, 310 pages, First Edition, second printing, published by Cowles Book Company, New York, 1971, dust jacket, in very good condition.

Spanish painter (1904-1989), a very famous surrealist artist, his full name was Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech. Full booklet/catalog for an exhibition of his works in the Gallery of Modern Art including the Huntington Hartford Collection, December 18th, 1965 through February 28th, 1966. A total of 160 numbered pages plus soft covers, with many illustrations in color and black and white. Dali signed with a blue felt tip pen on a blank page opposite to the title page. See scan. Beaumont, London, 1945, some black and white photographs, signature is on the frontend page. A total of 175 numbered pages plus hard covers, no dust jacket, 5.6 x 8.75 inches, in very good condition.

Russian ballet dancer (1903-1997), and Kennedy Center Honoree.  Book "Changes Lobsters and Dance", by Lilli Palmer, signed by Danilova opposite to the first title page - with Danilova´s address in New York, this was probably part of her private library. Published by Macmillan Publishing company, New York, NY, 1975. A total of 320 numbered pages, some illustrations, 6.25 x 9.4 inches, hardcovers, no dust jacket, in very good condition.

Fine, richly illustrated book about the 1980 film "Nijinsky". George de la Peña performed in the title role in this film by director Roland Gelatt. This is a book released by Ballantine Books, New York, in 1980, about the film, contains numerous black and white pictures of the real Nijinsky in performance and real life, as well as 55+ pages full of color shots from the movie. One of the color photos, a full-page picture, is signed by American ballet dancer and actor George de la Peña (Nijinsky) (b.1955), over the top left corner. French composer (1836-1891), famous for his operas. First edition, 106 pages, published by Mme. Cendrier, Paris, 1858.  Monsieur Griffard was Delibes´ first complete opera comique, and was world-premiered in 1857 with French tenor Ernest Leroy in the title role. A fine copy, signed by the composer and inscribed to the creator of the title role “To Monsieur Griffard, with a thousand thanks to the friend Leroy, Leo Delibes, 1858”. Contemporary quarter morocco covers original front wrapper bound in - First edition, extremely rare.

Star Italian tenor (1921-2008), admired for his extremely beautiful voice, partner of Maria Callas and Tito Gobbi on stage and in most of her studio recordings. A short biography book titled "Giuseppe di Stefano" written by Heino Eggers (1967) and signed multiple times by the Italian tenor with one long and one short sentiment in German in different parts of the book in 1967 and 1968. Size is 5.5 x 7.3 inches, 64 pages, many photographs, pages 40 and 41 are missing, in overall excellent condition.

French tenor (1806-1896), who performed at the world premiere in Lucia di Lammermoor (1835). His book "L'Art du Chant" signed twice by the author (on the title page and over the opposite blank page) with a 3-bar music quote and lyrics.  Size is 7.5 x 10.8 inches, 123 pages, 2nd edition (no year); original covers were removed and rebound with leather hard covers, in overall very good condition.

Italian novelist, critic, philosopher and academic (1932-2016), famous for some of his books, especially for "The Name of the Rose", first published in Italian in 1980, and in English in 1983.  This novel received numerous international awards, and was later taken to the screen in a famous film of the same name (1986). Signed book "The Name of the Rose", 1983 edition in English language, Eco signs and inscribed this copy on the title page above the book title. A total of 502 pages, hardcovers and dust jacket, 6.4 x 9.4 inches. Book is in excellent condition, dust jacket shows signs of wear and a few cracks.
