Fantastic, very rare book, published in Russia in 1914, full of photographs of singers - Book was published as a newspaper supplement, part of a series devoted to sculpture, architecture and fine arts. This book is dedicated to Russian opera, and has Fedor Chaliapin on the cover. Large size, 12 x 15.5 inches, 66 pages with many many photographs. Singers depicted include Chaliapin (in Faust, Rusalka, Boris Godunov, Don Quixotte, Mefistofele, etc), Kuznetsova, Smirnoff, Sobinoff, Adreeev, Petrenko, Davidov, etc etc. Includes an essay, book is entirely in Russian language. Famous Argentinian poet of the modernist period (1892-1938). A very relevant voice among Latin American poets, Storni died young by committing suicide (walked into the sea and drowned).  Handwritten poem, signed by her, entitled "Faro en la Noche" (Lighthouse in the Night), in Spanish, dated by her in Buenos Aires in 1934. Also included is the first edition of her book "Mundo de Siete Pozos" (A World of Seven Pits), Editorial Tor, Buenos Aires, 1934 - where this poem was published for the first time.  Poem is one page, 4.5 x 7.1 inches, in excellent condition, book has 160 pages, hard covers (not original), 5 x 7.1 inches, ownership marks on title page, in very good condition. Artists Edition, limited to 500 copies, each one was signed by composer and playwright author Edna Saint Vincent Millay. Harper & Brothers, Publishers, New York, 1927. Buckram spine, Paper-Covered B. Condition: Very Good. Limited. #95 of 500 copies of the Artist's Edition, signed by the author on page 3 and by the composer on a large folding facsimile page of the score. Printed on Tuscany hand-made paper. Bound in gray-green paper-covered boards over a tan buckram spine. Original case is included, but has cracks. Book is 6.5 x 10.25 inches, has minor damage on some pages, otherwise is in very good, near mint condition.

Vocal score, PN51635, 4ff., 366 pages, French text, blind stamped 10/1894. Ownership dated Oct 31st, 1894 (19 days after the Paris premiere), a fine copy. Original boards. First edition of the second version, Hopkinson 63B. This is a special version of the opera made by Verdi for the Paris Opera, where it was given on October 12th, 1894. First edition to contain Act III ballet music composed by Verdi for the production and it also includes other revisions made by the composer. Size is 8.5 x 11 inches.

Austrian composer of light operettas (1819-1895). Fatinitza was premiered in Vienna in 1876, and was Franz von Suppe´s first full opera and one of his biggest triumphs. Signed piano and vocal score, no year mentioned but circa 1879, listing the singers of the Paris premiere of 1879 - probably printed for the occasion.  Boldly signed by the composer and inscribed to Scipion, one of the singers in the cast that night. New York, Summer Garden Editions, 1997. 50 copies of this book were printed on Fabriano Rosaspina paper by offset lithography. The edition was hand coloured, bound and signed by the artist. Narrow Folio approx. 430mm x 150mm. Black and pictorial yellow cloth, gilt and black label to spine. With an additional Drypoint watercolour signed by Magaril. All enclosed within a labelled black and grey clamshell box. Size is 6 x 17 inches.
