Lithograph from "Birds of America" by John James Audubon (1785-1851), perhaps the most famous early American naturalist. Print from the first octavo edition of this book, created by J. T. Bowen, Philadelphia under Audubon´s supervision. First edition was hand-colored and published in 1840-1844. American Widgeon, male and female, sized 10.5 x 6.5 inches, original, not a reproduction, in excellent condition.

German film actor (1892-1972), who appeared in over 110 films between 1918-1938. Fine photo postcard signed by him, shown young. Size is 3.4 x 5.3 inches, in excellent condition.

Hungarian violinist (1845-1930) and composer, best-known as a violin teacher of the greatest violinist of the first half of XX century.  Autograph music quote signed on an album page, dated in New York, 1922, inscribed to the daughter of Artur Bodanzky, with a short sentiment.  Size is 6.75 x 4.4 inches, in excellent condition. Hungarian violinist (1845-1930), academic, composer, conductor and famous as a violin teacher. Among his many students were Mischa Elman, Jascha Heifetz, Nathan Milstein, Efrem Zimbalist, Benno Rabinof, Kathleen Parlow and other great performers.  Signed cabinet photo, inscribed to one of his most famous students, Kathleen Parlow, dated by him in Eisenach in 1906, where Auer spent his summer vacations and gave classes. Born in Canada, Kathleen Parlow (1890-1963) met Auer in 1905 in St. Petersburg, Russia, and took classes from him. This is a fantastic piece of violin memorabilia, with an autograph from one of the greatest to one of his later famous students. Auer autographs are rather rare and valuable. Size is 4.25 x 6.4 inches, an original cabinet photo by Elliott & Fry, London, trimming at the bottom taking probably 0.1 inches, repaired crack on the top left corner. Cabinet photo is mounted on a slightly larger black cardboard, to a total size of 4.5 x 6.8 inches and can not be detached.

French dramatist (1820-1889), the author of several successful plays and works, Augier created the libretto for Charles Gounod´s first opera, "Sapho". Autograph note signed, no date, one page in French, sold untranslated, 4.25 x 5.25 inches. In very good condition.

American writer (1868-1934), one of the early nature writers of the American Southwest. Signed book "The Land of Little Rain", her most famous book, now a classic, inscribed on the first title page to famous American mountaineer, environmentalist and author Francis P. Farquhar (1887-1974). First edition, fourth impression, published by Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1903. Hardcovers, 282 pages, with original illustrations on the margins, minor wear on spine, small crack on frontend page, in very fine condition. Australian soprano (1892-1968), born Florence Wilson, famous for her interpretations of Wagnerian roles.  Signed photo, shown as herself, inscribed, 8 x 10 inches. In only fair condition since it has several cracks that were repaired on verso with acid-free tape, priced accordingly.

Lot of 85 photo postcards depicting theater scenes, many have information written in pencil on verso, all are from the period 1905 through the 1930s. Each one is approximately 3.5 x 5.5 inches, in very good condition or better. A few have photographer ink stamp on verso, a couple seem to be signed on verso by actor Ernst Arndt, who unfortunately perished in concentration camp Treblinka at age 81, in 1942. Sold as a lot only, not sold separately.

Great lot of 32 cabinet photos from the late 19th-early 20th century, unsigned, depicting Austrian and German stage actors. Names include Gustav Maran (6 cabinet photos), Charlotte Wolter (2 cabinet photos), Reinhold (probably Babette Reinhold), Viennese popular singer Edmund Guschelbauer, Hans Homma, Joseph Lewinsky, Ermete Zacconi, singer/actress Ellen Brandt-Forster, Alexander Girardi, Eleonore Duse, Alexander Guttmann (2 cabinet photos), a couple of group photos with Alexander Girardi and others, plus several more, some with their names in pencil markings on verso which we could not identify, a few with no markings on the back. Various sizes, but most are the standard cabinet photo size, 4.25 x 6.5 inches, a few are larger, all in very good condition or better. SOLD AS A LOT ONLY, not sold separately.
