Interesting, unique stamp collection of opera-related stamps from various European countries, all mint or attached to envelopes, some of the FDCs (first day covers).  Included are 11 full stamp sheets issued for the Teatro La Scala, Milan bicentennial in 1978, one sheet from Austria celebrating the Vienna State Opera centennial in 1969, 18 envelopes with stamps (some FDCs) from various European countries and one from Japan, 4 postcards with stamps and first day ink stamp, and some lose stamps. In cabinet photo format (each approx. 4.25 x 6.5 inches), the Munich Opera theater, Frankfurt Opera theater, Theatre de Geneve (3 photos), Vienna Opera, Marie Palace Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, La Scala in Milan plus one unidentified theater. Wonderful collection of many unsigned opera program clips attached to 48 album pages, from 1903-1910, most from the Metropolitan Opera and Manhattan Opera House, and a few others from opera houses from Germany and France; a few stars such as Caruso and Toscanini appear scheduled.  Clips also include programs for theatrical plays and Broadway. South-African-born Israeli ballet dancer (1935-2007), director of the Bat-Dor Dance Company and School. Black-and-white photograph signed and dated by her in September 1973 on verso; ink-stamped on verso by photographer Mula & Haramaty (Tel Aviv). Size is 6.75 x 4.75 inches, in excellent condition.

Spanish tenor (b. 1948), signed photo, shown in role. Photo by Giorgio Biserni, Ravenna. Size is 5 x 7 inches, in excellent condition.

French dramatist (1854-1916) and composer, who often collaborated with other playwrights, composers, and musicians, for a large number of operettas, opéra-bouffes, comedies, and vaudevilles. Autograph letter in Frnch (untranslated) signed by him, dated in Paris, October 19, 1897, to a gentleman composer, concerning a manuscript he cannot find: “…Il me semble vous l’avoir remis en vous disant: ‘gardez tout le commencement du second acte et modifiez surtout la fin qui couchait la pièce’…”.  Size is 4.6 x 7 inches each page, three written pages in one folded sheet, irregular borders, creases, folds, dirt stains, in good condition.

Italian composer (1865-1922), creator of several successful operas including Cecilia, Chopin and others. Autograph letter signed in Milan, 1905, to Arturo Melli about his opera Chopin, in Italian; 4 pages in folio. Each page has a size of 5.25 x 8.25 inches, in excellent condition. Dutch bass-baritone (1854-1926), signed photo, shown as Mephistopheles in Gounod's Faust, signed in Amsterdam, dated in 1909. Inscribed to L. Roberts. Very eye-catching image and signature. Size of photo is 4 x 5.75 inches, mounted onto solid cardboard backing, total item is 4.6 x 6.25 inches. Some trimming at top of cardboard, but otherwise in excellent condition.
