Silk Program for a Gala performance in honor of HRH Prince Henry of Prussia on February 25th, 1902 at the Metropolitan Opera House.  The program features performances of complete acts of five different operas plus arias with many famous artists on stage including Calvé, Gadsky, Schumann-Heink, Homer, Eames, Scotti, Sembrich, Dippel, Breval, and others.  Size is 11 x 14.5 inches, evident overall rust stains, and in overall very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a handwritten letter in English by an anonymous woman who attended this performance telling a friend about the concert -interesting content from a first-hand witness of this event (sold with transcription).

Fine set of three fragments of the Old Metropolitan Opera's curtains, being two of them 3.5 x 2.5 inches in size and 7 x 10 inches. ALSO INCLUDED is a small certificate by the Met Opera Guild.

Quite a unique souvenir of the old Metropolitan Opera building in New York, which was inaugurated in 1883 and demolished in 1967 after the opera company moved out in 1966. Piece of the curtain with fringes, mounted on blue velvet and encased in acrylic, ready to hang if desired. Total case size is 6.5 x 18.5 inches, with a thickness of 1.8 inches. Minor scratches on acrylic, in overall very good condition.

Brass replica of a ticket stub for the gala performance on October 22nd, 1983, celebrating the centennial of the Metropolitan Opera in New York.  This was sold by the Met as a souvenir, and is today a desirable collectible. This is a keychain that can be used as such. Size is 1.4 x 2.75 inches, needs some cleaning and polishing, minor scratches, in very good condition. See scan of the front, verso is blank.

Metropolitan Opera medallion, issued for the centennial of the opera house in 1983. Ten thousand Met Medals were made in bronze, each one is numbered. Medal is 76 mm in diameter, weighs 7.2 ounces. In original box, some wear on the box, the medallion is in excellent/like new condition.

Beautiful, official plate issued by the Metropolitan Opera in New York, celebrating the Centennial of the opera company in 1983.  Plate is 10.25 inches in diameter, fine porcelain by Lennox, accented with 24 karat gold, depicting a scene from Puccini´s opera "Madama Butterfly". Comes with original box and documentation, including a letter from Lennox Collections, a limited edition of 9,500 were issued. Original box showing some wear on top, rest is in excellent condition.

Set of 2 original, vintage prints from the American Architect and Building News, issue of Nov 13th, 1880, depicting the then future building of the Metropolitan Opera company, which was just founded and will have its building created. The final design was later approved and built, and opened on October 22nd, 1883. This is one of the competing designs, and very close to the final one. Each print is 12.7 x 8.75 inches, minor stains, in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an original playbill announcing upcoming performances at the Metropolitan Opera House in December, 1884, the 2nd season. Size is 4.8 x 13 inches, ink writing at the top, in excellent condition.

Exceedingly rare clip from an original program for the 1st, inaugural night of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the famous October 22nd, 1883 performance of Faust with Christine Nilsson as Marguerite and Italo Campanini in the title role. These are all originals, not copies. Also included is a clip from the same program, announcing the performance on the 2nd night ever, with Lucia di Lammermoor starring Marcella Sembrich in the title role, 2 days later, on October 24th, 1883, plus an original clip from that program. A total of 3 original clips, 2 from the first night ever, and 1 from the 2nd night. Inaugural clip is 4.2 x 9.2 inches, 2nd night announcement clip is 4.1 x 7.5 inches, and 2nd night program clip is 4.1 x 8.2 inches, all in excellent condition. Also included are: - An extremely rare prospectus, 14 pages plus soft covers, explaining about the 1st Met season and the opening night with Faust followed by the second with Lucia. This prospectus was probably given to attendees on the first night. Each page is 6 x 9.25 inches, repaired binding and some cracks, but complete and in overall very good condition. This is a booklet we have never seen before, see scan of the front cover. - A 4-page program for a performance at the end of season one (April 21st, 1884), the farewell of the Met Manager Henry E. Abbey. The Met Opera company had a financially disastrous first season, and Abbey was asked to resign. Each page is 6 x 7.9 inches, in very good condition. See scans of cover and inside (pages 2 and 3). - An article from Harper´s Monthly Magazine, 1883, about the newly founded Metropolitan Opera company and the new building, 13 pages, 6.6 x 9.6 inches, in excellent condition. This is the first time we see clips from the inaugural night at the Met Opera in the market, outside the archives at the Lincoln Center.

Original piece of moulding from the old Met!. After the Met Opera moved out to a new building at the Lincoln Center in 1966 - where it still is - the old Met building (1883-1966) was demolished in later 1966-early 1967. Some parts were sold on side, including this piece of moulding or stucco with the golden decorations. On verso, there is an original photograph taken during the demolition, which is attached to the back, but can be removed.  Size is 11.25 (width) x 5.25 (height) x 3 (depth) inches. This is your chance to own a piece of the historical building!. See photos.  

Set of 6 programs, for performances in Chicago by the Metropolitan Opera Company on tour, from between 1894 and 1905. Each program is complete, has only 4 pages, and is 5.1 x 7.4 inches. The Metropolitan was founded in 1883 as an alternative to the previously established Academy of Music opera house and debuted the same year and moved into a new location at Lincoln Center in 1966. Gorgeous photograph of a performance circa 1991 conducted by James Levine at Carnegie Hall, and signed by more than 75 artists (NOT SIGNED BY LEVINE). Total size is 20 x 16, actual photo is 13.5 x 10.5 inches (visible window size). This is the only photo we have ever seen that has been signed by more than 75 artists. Very rare!

German baritone (1915-2005), set of 3 autograph letters signed, 1 page each, written in German, sold untranslated. Each written in Munich, dated in 1953 and 1954, and are addressed to Karl Maria Zwissler, the director of the Mainz Stadtisches Theater. Sizes range from 5.75 x 8.25 inches to 7.25 x 10.5 inches. In excellent condition, not sold separately. 

Austrian diplomat (1773-1859) who was at the center of European affairs for three decades as the Austrian Empire's foreign minister from 1809 and Chancellor from 1821 until the liberal revolutions of 1848 forced his resignation.  Autograph note written in German (sold untranslated) signed by him, dated in 1853.  Size is 7.4 x 8.8 inches, 1 page, central fold, in very good condition.

German-born American composer (1848-1937) and bandleader, best known for his ragtime "A Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight". Created in 1896, this was a very popular piece in its time.  Autograph music quote from this famous piece, signed by him below, dated in 1922. Quote is in a larger piece of music sheet, blank at the top, sized 9.5 x 12.4 inches, attached to a slightly larger piece of cardboard, can be easily detached. Also included is a clip from a newspaper, reporting about his death. In very good condition, rare!

Signed photo postcard of the German contralto (1878-1943), who unfortunately was murdered in Auschwitz. Inscribed to opera scholar and writer Leo Riemens - one of the authors of the famous Sängerlexikon. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, in very good condition (some wear in corners, otherwise excellent). Sabine Meyer (born in 1959) is a German classical clarinetist. By the 1990s, she had become one of the most notable solo clarinetists, and has released many recordings since then.
