Italian composer (1857-1919) and librettist, who produced numerous operas and songs throughout his career but it was his opera Pagliacci (1892) that remained his lasting contribution, despite attempts to escape the shadow of his greatest success.

Fine black-and-white photo postcard of the composer shown in the center between the role creators of his opera Zazá (1900) Rosina Storchio, Mario Sammarco, Edoardo Garbin, and an unidentified woman; signed and inscribed by Leoncavallo vertically over the right side, dated in Montecatini, Italy, August 1912 (?).
Total size is 6.5 x 4.4 inches, mounted on a slightly large piece of white cardboard; the music quote and signature appearing on the top border of the photograph are printed, some rust stains, in overall very good condition.
