Ballet Dancer Figurines: A Shining Star in Ballet Collectibles May 26 2025
They are beautiful and they are highly sought-after by many, but they are fragile and can be rare and expensive. Ballet dancer figurines have been around for well over a century, and pretty much every ballet fan treasures at least one.

In the same fashion as with opera, the finest porcelain makers that create figurines have honored ballet stars such as Marie Taglioni, Anna Pavlova, Tamara Karsavina, Maya Plisetskaya, Vaslav Nijinsky, and others with their fine porcelain creations. They have also created many that can´t be connected to a particular artist. In fact, the majority of ballet dancer porcelain figurines are of just generic dancers and not one in particular.

Vintage collectible figurines in fine porcelain are not the only ones that can sometimes be expensive, we have seen examples of ballet figurines issued just a couple of decades ago that are very high priced in the market.
They also suffer from the same problems, arms and legs are most of the time extended, dresses tend to be elegant but sometimes have incorporated cloth, and that makes them particularly fragile for transportation. For these reasons, they require extremely careful packing and handling.
