Rare book of a small, private edition of only 300 numbered copies, published by G. Schirmer in 1943 to celebrate the 60th birthday of his president, famous French-born American pianist, musicologist and publisher Carl Engel (1883-1944). This is copy number 177 of a total of only 300 that were made, and is signed by Carl Engel himself who dedicates the book to star conductor Fritz Reiner - with a short sentiment ("To and old friend"). 234 pages including articles about Engel, music topics, and some with photos. Some rust on borders of dust covers, book is in excellent condition, 6.75 x 9.25 inches
