American pianist (1879-1935), teacher, and composer. Nice sepia photograph signed and inscribed by her with a long sentiment dated 1925. Size is 6.75 x 9.2 inches, in excellent condition.

American pianist and composer (1879-1935), educated in Europe with a successful concert career.  Large signed photo mounted on a mat where her signature is with four bars of music from a piano and violin sonata.  Photo and mat are both signed by photographer Pauline Hamilton, Vienna.  Total size is 12.5 x 17.75 inches (photo is 6.4 x 8.6 inches), in excellent condition. The sentiment and signature seem to have been written over.

French composer (1820-1882), pupil of Pierre Zimmermann and Charles-Valentin Alkan. Autograph note in French signed by him, no date indicated, addressed to a certain Monsieur Désarbres requesting extra beds or a new room in a hotel. Size is 4.9 x 7.2 inches, 1 page, translation not included, in excellent condition.

Argentinian actress (1888-1969), her career included 2 films although focused mostly in theater, becoming widely famous as an actress and a successful producer. Signed photo postcard, from the early 1900s, showing her young, in role in a play, inscribed. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Original playbill for a Broadway production of the musical Memphis at Shubert Theatre; featuring featuring Delray, Felicia and Company, and others others; signed by many members of the cast. Size is 5.3 x 8.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Famous Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress aircraft that inspired a documentary (1944) and a film (1990); restored in 2005 currently being displayed at the National Museum of the U.S. Ai Force. A small lot composed by the following 5 items: (1) A photograph of the aircraft and crew signed by Captain Robert Morgan and his Copilot James A. Verinis.  (2) A brochure signed by both Morgan and Verinis. (3) A First Day cover signed by members of the club. German actress (1900-1951) and wife of pianist Edwin Fischer. Beautiful black-and-white photograph signed by her and dated in Champlain, New York, May 1936, here shown with Maestro Toscanini and his wife Carla di Martini.  Size is 8 x 10 inches, some notes on verso, creases, in overall very good condition.

German composer (1809-1847), pianist, organist and conductor of the early Romantic period and one of the greatest in music history. Autograph letter signed, written in England, no date, one page in English language. Mendelssohn writes to an unknown recipient thanking for his letter and apologizing for not having the time to meet, and future plans.  One page, 4.5 x 7.2 inches, in excellent condition.

German composer (1809-1847), pianist, organist and conductor of the early Romantic period and one of the greatest in music history. Beautiful 1-page autograph letter signed by him, to German composer and cellist August Julius Rietz (1812-1877). Rietz edited many works of Mendelssohn, succeeded him as conductor of the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, and would later become a teacher of Arthur Sullivan. In this autograph letter, Mendelssohn recommends to Rietz a new student named Julius Tausch (1827-1895). Only 19 at that time, Tausch would go to study with Rietz in Dusseldorf (where Rietz lived for 37 years), and would later become an accomplished pianist. The letter is dated November 5th, 1846 in Leipzig, and is written in German. Mendelssohn writes "This is to ask you to become the bearer, Mr. Julius Tausch, whom David, after your letter, is pushing in the direction of Dusseldorf. He is a really good and talented musician, plays the piano with great skill, and is well endowed in other ways behind the ears, so you can happily take him around with you and be of great help to him". Size is 5.4 x 8.3 inches, central fold, in excellent condition. On the bottom right, Rietz writes about the provenance of this letter and signs, dating his signature in 1870. ALSO INCLUDED is a steel engraving of Mendelssohn by Richard Bentley, London, dated in 1851, and is 7 x 10.1 inches, minor water stain over the top left corner, otherwise in excellent condition.

Autograph letter signed, to a Mrs. Moscheles (probably the wife of composer Ignaz Moscheles (1794-1870)),  in German (sold untranslated), dated in July, circa 1833. Mendelssohn is thanking her for returning some borrowed books and requesting an address. Lacquer stamp with a barely visible monogram inside, unidentified. Total size is 9 x 7.25 inches (opened), 1 folded page, letter is on the right leaf (4.5 x 7.25 inches), faint age staining, missing top left corner on the opposite page (with the recipient´s name), and minor mounting traces on verso, otherwise in very good condition.

German composer (1809-1847), gorgeous unsigned carte-de-visite (CDV) with a portrait of him, by photographers Charlet & Jacotin, Paris, from circa 1860. Size is 2.3 x 4.1 inches, blind stamped "C.J." on the front, in excellent condition.

French writer (1841-1909), author of many librettos and music poems for composers such as Reynaldo Hahn, Georges Bizet, Ignacy Paderewski, Andre Messager, and others. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, no date indicated [but circa 1890], addressed to a gentleman, recommending Mademoiselle Léonie Dupont, who is taking the entrance exam for singing at the Conservatoire.  Open size is 10.7 x 8.3 inches, 2 written pages in one folded sheet, letterhead from "Echo de Paris", creases, in overall very good condition.

American actress and decorator (1859-1950), also known as Elsie de Wolfe.  Large color engraving, inscribed and dated by her in Beverly Hills, 1941; mounted on a mat.  Engraving is 9.25 x 12.8 inches, mat size is 11.75 x 15.1 inches, some damage and dust over the mat, print is in excellent condition.

German actor (b.1944), active in more than 100 films since 1975. Fantastic color photograph signed by him, shown in a movie. Size is 7.9 x 11.5 inches, in excellent condition.

German actor (b.1944), best known internationally for his role in "Downfall", the 2004 movie about Adolf Hitler's final days inside the Führerbunker. Nice color photograph signed by him, shown in role. Size is 9.75 x 8 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian businessman (1896-1981), first husband of Maria Callas. Lot of 9 autograph items, all of them handwritten and signed by him in the name of his wife, super star soprano Maria Callas. Meneghini even made her signature, and signed photos for her. Lot includes 3 signed photos (2 of them in role in Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail and Norma) in approx. 3.5 x 5.5 inches, 3 postcards in approx. the same size, and 2 autograph letters, in Italian, one page each, one dated in 1958, the other undated, and one signature cut. A really nice, unusual and very interesting lot for a Callas fan - all in very good condition. Belgian composer (1784-1851) and horn player, Director of music at the Paris Opera between 1867 and 1870. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, dated June 17, 1842, addressed to the Belgian composer Joseph Daussoigne-Méhul (1790-1875), concerning a music work: “…pour le coup je ne sais ce que ton silence signifie, si ce que nous t’avons envoyé n’est pas bien, tu devrais nous le dire. J’ai vu ici cahou, il attend lui même ce qu’il doit graver; ses presses, ses ouvriers, tout cela attend, il ne sait a quoi attribuer tout ce grand retard…”. Size is 7 x 9.1 inches, 1 written page, folds, creases, with letter head of "Conservatoire de Musique de Gand", missing piece of paper over the left margin, in overall good condition.

Dutch composer and conductor (1902-1984), nephew of the famous conductor Wilhelm Mengelberg. Autograph letter signed in London, 1946, with his letterhead, 1 page in English about music issues. Size is 8.5 x 10.75 inches, central fold, in excellent condition.

Dutch conductor (1871-1951), famous for his performances of Strauss and Mahler with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, which he conducted for 50 years. Autograph music quote signed by him, dated in 1928, 3 bars of music from the beginning of Wagner´s "Der Fliegende Hollander", short text below his signature referring to the "Nieuw Amsterdam" ship, and date. Size is 4.1 x 5.5 inches, mounting traces on verso, in very good condition.

Set of 5 unsigned concert programs for performances conducted by the famous Dutch conductor in Vienna between 1934 and 1942. Size is 5.75 x 8.25 inches each one approx., different lengths (four complete programs, one incomplete), in very good condition or better. SOLD TOGETHER, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.

Dutch conductor (1871-1951), famous for his performances of music by Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam.  Signed book with the score of Mahler´s 7th Symphony, full orchestral version, published by Ernst Eulenburg, Leipzig/Vienna. Edition in reduced size (book is 5.5 x 7.3 inches), luxurious hard covers, 400+ pages, some wear on covers otherwise in very fine condition. Mengelberg signs on the first page, writing in German "war ein genie" ("was a genius") under Mahler´s printed name, and dating in Budapest, 1941. He was a friend of Mahler, and championed the performance of his works in the Netherlands, as well as in Hungary and Germany. This is a great testimony of it. ALSO INCLUDED is a nice photo postcard of the conductor in performance, 3.5 x 4.8 inches.
