Singer Autographs & Memorabilia (M-P)

Legendary Italian soprano (1910-2014), regarded as one of the greatest singers of the twentieth century, sang for over five decades and was especially celebrated in the verismo repertoire.  Gorgeous black-and-white photograph mounted on cardboard signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment dated 1957, here shown as Adriana Lecouvreur in Cilea's opera -one of her signature roles; photo by Velani. Size is 4.5 x 7 inches, in excellent condition.

German contralto (1892-1969) remembered for her performances of Wagner and Strauss heroines.  Large photograph shown as herself, signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment.  Photo is mounted on a photographer mat, signed in pencil by photographer Zimbler, Vienna (also blind-stamped in front of the photo, not on the mat).  Total size is 9.6 x 15.7 inches, actual photo is 6.25 x 8.75 inches, minor creases, some wear on the edges, in excellent condition.

German contralto (1892-1969) remembered for her performances of Wagner and Strauss heroines. Set of 4 unsigned photo postcards matted together, signed on the mat by her and inscribed to Casa America (Records Store located in Buenos Aires, Argentina), dated in 1923. Total size is 22.25 x 9.75 inches, water damage on the upper right corner with a small loss of paper, priced accordingly.

Italian tenor (1902-1984) who studied under Mucci and made his debut as Cavaradossi in 1926. Fine black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment dated March 10, 1933; photo by Santacroce (Milan). Size is 4.5 x 6.8, in excellent condition.

Latvian soprano (b.1979). Romanian soprano (b.1983). Beautiful color photograph signed by both soprano, shown in Puccini's "La Bohème". size is 9.75 x 8 inches, in excellent condition.

Spanish soprano, opera, and zarzuela singer (1895-1981). Signed photograph, shown in title role of Verdi's Aida, inscribed and dated in 1918.  This is a 5.25 x 9 inch photograph mounted onto soft cardboard for a total size of 7.75 x 12.25 inches; the signature is mostly on the photograph itself, with some additional text on the cardboard underneath. Blind stamped on cardboard by photographer Calvache, Madrid. Some creases on the cardboard, photo itself has small silvering on top right, otherwise  in excellent condition. 

Spanish soprano, opera, and zarzuela singer (1895-1981). Signed photograph, shown in role, extensively inscribed and dated in Madrid in 1916. Photo by Pascual Rey.  This is a 6.25 x 9 inch photograph mounted onto soft cardboard for a total size of 9.75 x 13.75 inches; signature and inscription are on the cardboard underneath the photo. There is a large tear on the bottom left of the cardboard and some paper loss on the other edges along with some creases and wear, the photo itself is  in excellent condition. 

Italian soprano (1898-1981), well known for singing mainly at Teatro La Scala and for partnering famous Italian tenor, Beniamino Gigli. Signed photo postcard, shown in the world premiere of Gino Robbiani's "Guido del Popolo" at La Scala, inscribed and dated in 1933. Photo by M. Camuzzi, Milan. Italian-American soprano (1907-1980), based in Italy for most of her career, made a number of recordings and established herself as one of the world's finest lyric coloratura sopranos of the 1930s and 1940s.  Signed photograph, shown as herself, inscribed, dated in 1946. Bold handwriting and signature. This is a 6.25 x 9 inch photograph, mounted on soft cardboard, total item size is 7.5 x 11.25 inches, in excellent condition. 

Spanish tenor (1877-1946), who had a very successful career in Europe and America, sang mainly in Madrid and Milan, specialized in romantic Italian and Spanish operas. Gorgeous photo postcard signed by him, shown in role, dated in Budapest, 1929; blind-stamped by the photographer. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian soprano (1872-1959), who saw early success at La Scala, Rome, and Turin interpreting verismo roles, and tackling some Wagnerian roles. Large photograph shown as herself, signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment to the Italian conductor Vittorio Gui, dated in Turin, 1927.  Photo is mounted on a photographer mat by Studio Deazti, Turin.  Total size is 11.75 x 15.5 inches, actual photo is 6.6 x 8.9 inches, even age-toning, minor water stains over the lower border, in very good condition.

Italian bass (1870-1940) who sang in many different theaters internationally, and left a few recordings. Large photograph shown in role mounted on a photographer's mat, signed and inscribed by the bass, dated in Milan in 1929; photo by L. Vaghi, Parma.  Total size is 9 x 13.25 inches, in excellent condition.

Scottish contralto (1825-1847), who became a successful performer at the Haymarket Theatre during her short life, and was the sister of famed Scottish soprano Mary Ann Paton. Fine signature cut attached to portrait of the contralto shown in a role. Total size is 3.75 x 7.25 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian soprano (1843-1919), considered one of the most famous singers in history due to the beauty of her lyrical voice and the unmatched quality of her bel canto technique. Wonderful larger size cabinet photograph by Taber, San Francisco, signed on the front and also on verso where she inscribed with a short sentiment, dated on March 29th, 1884. Size is 5.25 x 8.5 inches, minor damages con corners, small pinhole over the top, otherwise in very good condition.

Star Spanish-born soprano (1843-1919), one of the greatest singers of the 19th century, and considered by Verdi himself as perhaps the finest singer who had ever lived. Great cabinet style photograph signed by her, shown as herself; photo by Mora, New York. Photograph is also signed and inscribed by her on verso, dated in San Francisco, 1885. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, crack over the upper-right border, minor damage over the left border, minor stains, some smudge on verso, otherwise in very good condition.

Superstar Italian soprano (1843-1919), one of the greatest singers of the 19th century. Fine cabinet photograph of Patti by Bergamasco signed and inscribed by the soprano with a short sentiment, dated in St. Petersburg, February 3, 1870. Size is 4.25 x 6.4 inches, minor stains, in overall excellent condition. Signed photographs of Adelina Patti in Russia are rare!

Superstar Italian soprano (1843-1919), one of the greatest singers of the 19th century. Fine stereographic card signed by her, shown in role (probably as Juliette in Gounod's "Romeo et Julietta") -an original by London Stereoscopic Company. Size is 6.8 x 3.3 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian soprano (1835-1889), sister of the star soprano Adelina Patti; who, due to a noticeable handicap, avoided operatic performances and concentrated to sing on the concert stage to great acclaim. Rare carte-de-visite, signed by her, shown as herself, photo by Reutlinger, Paris. Size is 6.5 x 4.1 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian superstar tenor (1935-2007) and celebrated Spanish tenor (b.1946). Double signed photograph, shown next to fellow star Spanish tenor Placido Domingo (b.1941), taken at a "three tenors" concert during the World Cup. Size is 8 x 12 inches, large attractive images, slight bends on left and bottom right corners, otherwise in excellent condition.

Italian superstar tenor (1935-2007), superstar Spanish tenor (b.1941), and celebrated Spanish tenor (b.1946). Large triple signed artistic portrait in a poster, depicting the famous tenor trio. Size is 31.5 x 24 inches, in very good condition.

Superstar Italian tenor (1935-2007), superstar Spanish tenor (b.1941), superstar Italian soprano (1935-2020), and celebrated American conductor (1943-2021). Fantastic poster commemorating the career of Mirella Freni, signed by her as well as other artists shown in the poster: Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, and James Levine. A drawing design by artist Colin Bithell, who also signed this poster and numbered it, adding this is a limited edition of 850 copies. Size is 17.75 x 25.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Beautiful black-and-white movie-still photograph of the film "Yes, Giorgio" (1982) signed by the star Italian tenor with a short sentiment, and by the American actress, dated 1988.  Size is 10 x 7.9 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian superstar tenor (1935-2007), and Bulgarian soprano (b.1934). Beautiful color photograph signed by both artists, shown in costume at an outdoor curtain call following a performance of Puccini's Tosca at the Vienna State Opera in 1994.  Size is 7 x 5 inches, in excellent condition.

English tenor (1910-1986), closely associated with composer Benjamin Britten for nearly 40 years. Pears created the role of the fisherman Peter Grimes in the opera of the same name by Britten in 1945. Published in 1985 by the Britten-Pears Library, it contains many photographs of Pears´ life and career and letters to him, including some written for his 75th Birthday. Signed on the title page, inscribed and dated by Pears in 1985, opposite to a photograph of him with Benjamin Britten. A total of 145 numbered pages plus extras and hardcovers, dust jacket, all in excellent condition. The book is 7 x 10 inches in size, in excellent condition.  

Italian mezzo-soprano (1900-1988) who sang widely in Italy. Fine black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment dated 1946, shown in "Conchita" by Riccardo Zandonai; photo by Camuzzi. Size is 6.4 x 9.2 inches, in very good condition.

Celebrated American tenor (1904-1984), a favorite of Arturo Toscanini, also a frequent performer on Broadway and film. Signed photograph, shown as himself, with an inscribed autographed musical quote at the top right of the photo. Stamped on verso by photographer Maxwell Coplan-Dirone, New York. Size is 8 x 10 inches, some creases on the far edges of the photo, otherwise in very good condition.

French baritone (1869-1954), who concentrated mostly in operetta repertoire, but tackled a few numbers of Mozartian roles. Beautiful large vintage photograph boldly signed and inscribed by the baritone, shown as himself. Photo size is 5.5 x 9 inches, matted to solid cardboard for a total size of 8.25 x 10.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian baritone (1858-1926), sang throughout Italy and made guest appearances at the Royal Opera Convent Garden, among other theatres. Following his 1910 retirement, became a leading voice teacher, one of his most prominent pupils was the well known bass Tancredi Pasero. Very attractive signed vintage photograph mounted onto a cabinet, shown in the title role of Verdi's Falstaff, inscribed in Naples, dated in 1897. Bold handwriting and signature. Photo size is 5.75 x 8.25 inches mounted onto larger cabinet designed by Giulio Rossi, Milan. Total item size is 6.75 x 9.75 inches, one small bullet hole outside of the photo area, otherwise in excellent condition.
