Singer Autographs & Memorabilia (U-Z)

American soprano (1865-1947), with an important career at the Metropolitan Opera of New York, later voice teacher. Signed cabinet photo, shown probably as herself, photo by Aime Dupont, New York, inscribed. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, in very good condition.

American contralto (1880-1962).  Large size photo shown as herself, signed by her in white ink and dated in 1912; photo is mounted on a photographer mat by Mishkin Studio, New York.  Total size is 11 x 14 inches, actual photo is 5.8 x 7.8 inches, crack over the right border of the mat, creases on corners, some rust stains on margins, but the photo is in excellent condition.

German heldentenor (1849-1912), notable for creating the title role in Wagner's Parsifal in 1882, being known as well for his Tannhäuser, Lohengrin and Walther von Stolzing (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg). Vintage signed cabinet photo, shown as himself, signed and dated by him in Vienna, 1905. Photo by A. Sele, Vienna. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, beautiful historic item in excellent condition.  

German heldentenor (1849-1912), notable for creating the title role in Wagner's Parsifal in 1882, being known as well for his Tannhäuser, Lohengrin and Walther von Stolzing (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg). Stunning black and white photo postcard signed and dated by him in Vienna, 1910, shown as Parsifal in Wagner's opera. Size is 3.5 x 5.25 inches, in excellent condition. 

American bass (1873-1935) and later opera manager, made many recordings in the early days of the Victor Talking Machine company. Signed photograph, shown as himself,  inscribed. Stamped on verso by Kaufmnn and Fabry photographers, Chicago. Size is 4.75 x 9.75 inches, several creases on top and bottom, otherwise in good condition.  

American bass (1873-1935) and later opera manager, made many recordings in the early days of the Victor Talking Machine company. Large signed photograph, shown as himself,  inscribed in New York, dated in 1921. Size is 8 x 10 inches, with some wear on edges and a slight crack in the upper left of the photo not affecting the image and signature, otherwise in very good condition.

German baritone (1909-1982), pair of 1 3.25 x 5.25 inch signed photograph, shown as himself, mounting traces on verso, otherwise in excellent condition, and 1 autograph note signed, on official letterhead, 8 x 11,5 inches, 1 page in German, sold untranslated. Both dated in 1966, not sold separately.

German singer and lute virtuoso player (1876-1945), who was also a composer of folk songs from Germany, France and Scandinavia. Large signed half-tone photograph, shown next to her lute, dated in 1912. Size is 7.5 x 11.4 inches, in excellent condition.

German tenor (1858-1938), son of the composer and conductor of the same last name. Fine cabinet photograph shown as himself, signed and inscribed by him, dated in 1900; photo by Georg Brokesch, Leipzig. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, in excellent condition. 

Welsh soprano (1842-1897). Nice carte-de-visite signed by the soprano on verso, shown as herself; photo by W. & D. Downey, London. Size is 2.5 x 4.1 inches, in very good condition.

Bulgarian soprano (b.1981) with an important international career.  Larger size color photograph, shown as Juliette in Gounod's Romeo et Juliette.  Size is 8 x 12 inches, in excellent condition.

Romanian soprano (1925-2023) who sang leading roles in the opera houses of Europe and North America, known for the dramatic intensity, beauty, and wide range of her voice. Signed photograph, shown in the world premiere production of Francois Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmelites at La Scala, Milan. Size is 7 x 9.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Romanian soprano (1925-2023) who sang leading roles in the opera houses of Europe and North America, known for the dramatic intensity, beauty, and wide range of her voice. Signed photograph, shown backstage with composer Francois Poulenc (Zeani performed in the world premiere production of his opera Dialogues des Carmelites at La Scala, Milan). Blind stamped on verso by photographer Erio Piccagliani, La Scala, Milan. Size is 7 x 9.25 inches, with slight paper loss on several corners, otherwise in excellent condition.  

Romanian soprano (1925-2023) who sang leading roles in the opera houses of Europe and North America, known for the dramatic intensity, beauty, and wide range of her voice. Signed photograph, shown backstage with composer Francois Poulenc in the world premiere production of his opera Dialogues des Carmelites at La Scala, Milan. Size is 9.5 x 7 inches, with some silvering on the bottom left, otherwise excellent condition.

Italian tenor (1876-1949), who enjoyed an international career as a dramatic tenor of the first rank, becoming a respected interpreter of Otello and Pinkerton -the latter, a role he created in 1904. Signed photo mounted on a hard mat, shown playing domino, with his brother Onofrio and an unknown participant who also signed over the right. Size is 12.5 x 10.5 inches, in very good condition. French Soprano of Italian heritage (1885-1969) who had an active international singing career from 1901 to 1930. Enjoyed great popularity in the United States between 1906 and 1914, particularly in the cities of Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia. She was also popular in Monte Carlo where she performed frequently from 1904–19 and later worked as a singing teacher after her retirement from the stage.  Signed photograph, shown as herself, young, inscribed in Paris, dated in 1906. Photo size is 5 x 7.5 inches, mounted on solid cardboard with blind stamp of photographer Reutlinger, Paris on the photo and his gold stamp on the bottom left of the cardboard as well as additional stamp on verso, total item size is 7 x 10.25 inches, small tear on top left of cardboard and mounting tape traces on verso, otherwise in very good condition.

Brazilian soprano (1891-1944), considered one of the best Normas of all times. Signed photograph shown as herself, inscribed and dated in Catania in 1929. Size is 3.9 x 5.5 inches, in very good condition. Rare!
