Spanish violinist (1883-1971) and composer, having excelled in both.  Printed score of Paganini's Caprice XXIV signed by the Spanish violinist on the first page with a short music quote from his symphonic poem "Nova Catalonia".  Full score with all pages and covers, size is 9.4 x 12.25 inches, repaired banding, in very good condition.

American singer-songwriter (b.1943). Autograph score facsimile (printed) for the lyrics and music of his own song "One Voice" boldly hand signed by him at the end of the score.  Size is 6.4 x 10.9 inches, 2 pages, in excellent condition.

Italian film composer (1924-2005), pianist, opera director, and novelist, whose output included a large number of genres. Autograph quote on a card signed by the composer with 4 bars of music from his opera "Luisella".  Size is 5 x 3 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian composer (1831-1902) whose works focused mostly on opera and song. Autograph music quote with 6 bars from Act 1 of his famous opera "Ruy Blas".  Size is 7.25 x 4.8 inches, 1 page with the letterhead of the Regia Accademia di Santa Cecilia, mounting traces on verso, in excellent condition.

Italian opera composer (1831-1902).    Autograph music quote on an album page, with 5 bars from his opera Romeo e Giulietta (premiered in 1865), signed and dated by him in Rome, 1886.  Size is 8.25 x 5.3 inches, very even age-toning, in excellent condition.

French composer (1842-1924), mostly known for his operas and other vocal music.  Autograph music quote on a small print with his image, with 4 bars from his opera "Daphnis et Chloé", signed and dated by him in Paris, 1909.  Size is 7.1 x 9 inches, minor damage on corners, scattered rust stains, in overall very good condition.

Swiss composer (1902-1995).  Autograph note signed on a card, written in French (sold untranslated) by the composer, and dated in Geneve, 1978.  It has a short music quote over the left border with 6 bars of music from his ballade for violin and orchestra.  Size is 5.75 x 4.1 inches, in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a handwritten envelope (not shown).

Italian composer and conductor (1882-1945), associated with music of Wagner and Italy. Autograph music quote signed on postcard of music from both Acts 2 and 3 of Wagner's Parsifal, signed in Buenos Aires, possibly in 1913. Size is 43.5 x 5.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian composer and conductor (1882-1945), associated with music of Wagner and Italy. Autograph music quote signed, 4 bars from his opera Palla de Mozzi, inscribed and dated in Buenos Aires in 1933. Size is 4.5 x 7.1 inches, minor spotter rust, in very good condition.

Czech composer (1890-1959), whose output included 6 symphonies, 15 operas, 14 ballet scores, and a large body of orchestral, chamber, and vocal works. Autograph note signed by him, written in French (sold untranslated), addressed to music critic Arno Huth.  Size is 4.6 x 6.3 inches, 1 page, in very good condition. Autographs of Bohuslav Martinu are extremely rare!

Autograph letter in Italian (sold with translation) signed by him responding to an invitation, dated in Livorno, August 28, 1894.  Size is 5.25 x 8.25 inches, 1 page, in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a modern print black-and-white photo of the composer. Size is 4.9 x 7.9 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian opera composer (1863-1945), mostly remembered today for his operas "Cavalleria Rusticana" and "L'Amico Fritz" among other creations. Autograph music quote on an album page signed by the composer with 4 bars from his opera "Iris", dated in Palermo in 1920.  Size is 4.75 x 6.75 inches, in excellent condition. Also included: 1 unsigned postcard photograph of the composer, 3.25 x 5.25 inches, small crease on top right, otherwise in excellent condition. Not sold separately. 

Italian opera composer (1863-1945), mostly remembered today for Cavalleria Rusticana and L'Amico Fritz, among other creations. Complete score for voice and piano of his opera "Amica" (1905) signed by the composer in the full title page, inscribed to baritone Riccardo Stracciari who performed the star male role in the Italian premiere of the opera in Rome, 1905 (the opera was premiered in France in March 1905) -in both cases conducted by the composer himself. Mascagni wrote "to the unforgettable "Rinaldo", to the dearest friend Riccardo Stracciari with affection and admiration. Pietro Mascagni, Rome, May, 1905". Size is 10.4 x 12.8 inches, 183 pages, French edition (1905), original soft covers included -rebounded within hard covers, in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an unsigned photograph of Stracciari as Rinaldo and soprano Biancapelli. Size is 6.2 x 8.4 inches, in very good condition.

Italian composer (1852-1941) and conductor, remembered for conducting the world premiere of Verdi's Falstaff.  Autograph music quote with 3 bars from an unknown piece signed by him, dated in Montevideo, 1896.  Size is 6.8 x 4.3 inches, some spotted rust and minor crack, otherwise in very good condition.

French composer (1822-1884), whose career focused mostly on operas, creating about 20 of them. Autograph letter signed in Paris, 1878, in French and sold untranslated, 2 pages. Size is 5.25 x 8.1 inches, in excellent condition.

French opera composer (1842-1912), one of the greatest creators of operas from his time. Fantastic, a really unique piece of memorabilia consisting of a fragment of the wallpaper from the Opera Comique building, after a fire in 1887 destroyed it. Massenet collected and a piece of the wallpaper, attached it to a piece of paper, and preserved it. It was part of his estate when he passed away in 1912, a large part of it was kept in his family until it went to auction many years and several generations later, in the 1980s. A New York dealer purchased it, and kept it in his estate and collection until 2015 when we purchased it. Now it can be yours! Total size is 4.1 x 3.2 inches, is annotated in ink at the top by Massenet himself, who wrote what it is and that this comes from the Opera Comique in Paris, which was victim of a fire in May 1887. Cut corners, overall age-toning, glue residues on the back, but in very good condition.

This is one of the best music quotes from him ever seen!

Large-sized autograph music quote with his image at the top, signed by the composer with 6 bars from his opera "Werther", dated 1909.  Size is 6.3 x 20.2 inches, central fold, dirt, some rust stains, minor cracks, in overall good condition.

Vocal score with autograph music quotation - First and final revised edition vocal score containing the Fabliau (to replace the Gavotte in Act III). Original guilt wrappers, including the variant for performance without a ballet, and the very rare "Annexe A" containing the Fabliau, composed in 1884 for the great soprano Georgette Brejean-Silver.  This is the final version of Manon as revised by Massenet and the most authoritative printing of the opera. Light foxing, a few pages are loose, otherwise a remarkable copy with the very rare original semi-hard paper wrappers. BOLDLY SIGNED by Jules Massenet, who also wrote a short music quotation from the opera on the page facing the title page. 395 pages

English pianist, teacher and composer (1858-1945), Matthay opened his own piano school and published and important book on piano pedagogy. Signed postcard, dated by him on August 10th (stamp by the post office on verso states 1927), size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches

English-born composer and organist (1879-1973), who lived in America most of his life. Printed score of his work "The Song of America, a Historical Pageant for Mixed Voices with Orchestra or Piano", signed and inscribed by him on the cover, with a short sentiment. Ninety-six pages, sized 6.75 x 10.5 inches, in very good condition.

German composer (1882-1964).  Autograph music quote on a card, with a typed sentiment, signed by the composer in 1930, with 4 bars of music from an unknown piece; ink-stamped on verso with his name.  Size is 5.75 x 4.2 inches, ink stains over the upper-left corner, in very good condition.

Italian composer (1813-1877), and music teacher. Autograph letter with the letterhead of Regio Conservatorio di Musica (Milano) signed by him, written in Italian (sold untranslated), no date,  Size is 5.4 x 8.25 inches, 1 page, folds, in excellent condition.

American composer (1911-2007), and instrumentalist. 4-bar autograph music quote from his "Overture on Whimsical Tunes" signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment. Size is 6.1 x 3.3 inches, in excellent condition.

Scottish composer (1847-1935), principal of The Royal Academy of Music from 1887 to 1924. Fine photo postcard signed by him with a short sentiment, dated in 1906, plus a 3-bar music quote from "Benedictus" also signed by him.  Size is 3.3 x 5.4 inches, in excellent condition.

French composer (1820-1882), pupil of Pierre Zimmermann and Charles-Valentin Alkan. Autograph note in French signed by him, no date indicated, addressed to a certain Monsieur Désarbres requesting extra beds or a new room in a hotel. Size is 4.9 x 7.2 inches, 1 page, translation not included, in excellent condition.

Belgian composer (1784-1851) and horn player, Director of music at the Paris Opera between 1867 and 1870. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, dated June 17, 1842, addressed to the Belgian composer Joseph Daussoigne-Méhul (1790-1875), concerning a music work: “…pour le coup je ne sais ce que ton silence signifie, si ce que nous t’avons envoyé n’est pas bien, tu devrais nous le dire. J’ai vu ici cahou, il attend lui même ce qu’il doit graver; ses presses, ses ouvriers, tout cela attend, il ne sait a quoi attribuer tout ce grand retard…”. Size is 7 x 9.1 inches, 1 written page, folds, creases, with letter head of "Conservatoire de Musique de Gand", missing piece of paper over the left margin, in overall good condition.

Lengthy autograph 5-bar music quote from his Symphony #7 (composed in 1963, published in 1967) signed by him at the bottom with a quote and dated July 13, 1981. Size is 8.3 x 11 inches, 1 page, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an unsigned half-tone photograph of the composer (probably a clip from a magazine or book) with his facsimiled (printed) signature.  Size is 3.3 x 4.4 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian-American composer and librettist (1911-2007) and American soprano (1929-2007).  Page copy of a fragment from Act III Scene 1 of the opera "Juana La Loca", signed on the first page by both the composer and the soprano.  Also, a facsimile signature of the composer can be found over the upper-right corner of the first page.  Size is 9.75 x 13 inches, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an unsigned photo of the soprano as Juana La Loca, a role she created at San Diego, 1979, plus a ticket stub for a later performance.  Size is 9.2 x 6.4 inches, in excellent condition.

Signed and inscribed by the composer on the title page, ownership marks, 180 numbered pages, 8 x 11 inches, minor crack on front cover, otherwise in very good condition.

Italian composer (1795-1870) mostly of operas, Mercadante was very famous in his time and was important in the development of opera. Autograph letter signed, in Italian (sold untranslated), dated in Naples in 1861. One page, size is 5.25 x 8.25 inches, the addressee is written on verso by Mercadante, folds, in very good condition.

French composer (1853-1929), who was also an important conductor and impresario. Autograph letter signed, written in Paris to the legendary Italian tenor Enrico Caruso, composed in French, sold with an English translation. Letter is on 2 pages of a folded four page document, item size is 5.25 x 7 inches. Rare vintage item in excellent condition!

Austrian composer (1851-1928), director of the Fursttheater and Kapellmeister of the Volksoper in Vienna, Mestrozzi created singing plays, waltzes, marches, and choirs. Rare collection of 10 autograph documents, one is signed, with lyrics, in German. A few are more than one page, various sizes and condition, some poor, some very good. See scans.

German-born American composer (1848-1937) and bandleader, best known for his ragtime "A Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight". Created in 1896, this was a very popular piece in its time.  Autograph music quote from this famous piece, signed by him below, dated in 1922. Quote is in a larger piece of music sheet, blank at the top, sized 9.5 x 12.4 inches, attached to a slightly larger piece of cardboard, can be easily detached. Also included is a clip from a newspaper, reporting about his death. In very good condition, rare!
