German geographer, naturalist and explorer (1769-1859), who made very significant contributions to several fields of science including botany, zoology and geophysics. After 5 years (from 1799 through 1804) of travelling through Latin America, Humboldt published a series of large volumes with valuable information, later was the first to propose that humans were changing the world climate.  

Autograph letter signed, to British writer Helen Maria Williams (1759-1827), in French, sold with a transcription and translation. One page, mail stamp on verso indicates the year 1812, addressed to Williams. Humboldt praises her poetry. Size is 7 x 9.25 inches, folds, in very good condition.

ALSO INCLUDED is a photo of a portrait of Humboldt, the famous 1843 painting by Joseph Stieler, stamped by photographer.

We ship both domestic and international within 3 business days after payment is received. Shipping fees are paid by the customer and depend on amount of your purchase.

Returns & Exchanges

Unsatisfactory items may be returned within 14 days of receipt for your choice of a store credit or a full refund. In order to qualify for a refund, items must first be returned in the exact same condition they were shipped. By default we ship via USPS, and provide the option to ship via FedEx or UPS. Shipping and handling costs are not refundable for any items that were already shipped, either returned or not. At our discretion, a restocking and relisting fee of up to USD 40 could be applied for some returned items, although this is very rarely applied.
