Famous French tenor and teacher (1806–1896). Duprez is celebrated for pioneering the operatic high C delivered from the chest and for creating the role of Edgardo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor in 1835.

Autograph Music Quote (1888)

Fabulous larger-size autograph music quote from his opera Lakmé signed by him and inscribed to the American-born soprano Fides Devries-Adler (1852-1919) with a short sentiment, dated in 1888 (five years after its world premiere). Maestro Delibes wrote 9 bars for voice and piano from the third act of his opera, including lyrics. Size is 9.5 x 13 inches, minor cracks repaired on verso, in overall very good condition.
This is the most fantastic music quote of Delibes we have seen in a very long time!
