Paganini, Nicolo - Autograph Letter Signed 1837
Item #: M8760-R6C
Italian composer, violinist (1782-1840) and also violist and guitarist, probably the most celebrated violin virtuoso in history.
Important autograph letter signed by Paganini, dated on August 11th, 1837 with his handwritten address in Paris at the top, to Ambroggio M. Fumagalli, director of a business/performing theater that was being built. Paganini accepts to take part of the enterprise, where he would be performing.
Addicted to gambling at a younger age, and now sick at an older age, Paganini was going to take part of this project, which would end to be financially disastrous.
More information about this project can be found here:
This is an important letter confirming his interest and acceptance to participate in this project. One sheet on a bi-fold (4 pages), handwritten by him on both sides (pages 1 and 2, with pages 3 and 4 entirely in blank), in French, sold with a transcription and a translation into English, 7.3 x 9 inches. Folds, minor stains and ink smudges on both sides, but in overall excellent condition.
ALSO INCLUDED is a nice vintage lithograph of Paganini, according to V. Brand, with the legend below "Steindr. v. R. Weber", probably from the late 1800s. Size is 7.9 x 10.25 inches, with generous blank borders, can be matted and framed together with this important autograph letter.
