German soprano (1860-1945), based on her work at the Weimarer Hoftheater and in concerts throughout Europe, she became a highly esteemed "Kammersangerin" who achieved great popularity during her lifetime. German soprano (1900-1943), signed postcard photograph, shown as Elsa in Wagner's Lohengrin, signed and inscribed on verso, dated in Kassel in 1928. Signed as "Sofie Schubert-Brandstatter" reflecting her marriage to tenor Edwin Schubert. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, small stain on verso, otherwise in very good condition.

German bass-baritone, signed postcard photograph, shown as Wotan in Wagner's Die Walkure. Signed on verso. Stamped on verso by photographer. Size is 3.25 x 5.25 inches, some bends and silvering, otherwise in good condition.

Italian bass (1861-1928), creator of the role of Pistola in Verdi's "Falstaff". Beautiful black-and-white vintage photo postcard signed by him. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, in excellent condition.

American tenor (1913-1975), a major star of the Metropolitan Opera in Italian opera repertoire for 30 years. Short autograph note signed by him written on a regular postcard to his friend Leonard Lyons and his wife, stating "Getting ready to sing at the great Liceo Opera here in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Umberto Giordano's birth (sic) singing Andrea Chenier".  Size is 5.9 x 3.9 inches, in excellent condition.

American mezzo-soprano (b.1934), very talented, who has won the National Medal of Arts (1992), the Kennedy Center Honors (1995) and four Grammy Awards. Beautiful black-and-white studio photograph signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment dated 1972. Size is 5 x 7 inches, ink-writing by a third party over the top, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a short printed note with her autograph signature thanking a fan.

French bass (1874-1951) who enjoyed a long association with New York's Metropolitan Opera. Autograph letter in English signed by him, dated April 15, 1943, asking his addressee Mr. Witherspoon for confirmation of dates and fees to sing Friar Laurence in Romeo and Juliet in Montreal. Size is 7.5 x 10.5 inches, 2 written pages in two separate sheets with the letterhead “Leon Rothier Studio” add "Steinway Hall", folds, in fine condition.

Legendary Danish-American tenor (1890-1973), the preeminent Wagnerian tenor for three decades, from the 1920s to the early 1950s. Autograph letter signed by him, postmarked [17.11.12] when the great Danish heldentenor was 22 years old. Melchior addresses Marjorie Scott, a young woman in England: “I am so glad every time I get a letter from you and I thank you so much for your last and for the music you sent to me, it was too much. I don’t find your writing difficult to understand, and I learn a great deal in spelling (…) I work with my new songs and parties, that song “Sea Fever” I like very much, also the “Shakespere [sic.] song” (…). Will you by [sic.] for me Arnold Bax: Seven Songs and Herbert Fryer: Virgin’s Cradle Hymn…”. Size is 8.5 x 11.25 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet (front and back), ripped borders, folds, cracks, creases, overall rust tone, in good condition. Envelope is INCLUDED.

Czech soprano and actress (1907-1994), star of the Metropolitan Opera for many years. Nice autograph letter signed by her, dated December 14, 1989, replying to a fan and sending some photographs and envelopes. Size is 6.4 x 8.2 inches, folds, in excellent condition.  

Famous American soprano and actress (1898-1947), who helped popularize opera by taking it to a bigger audience through movies. Autograph letter in French signed by her, dated 1928, addressed to the manager of the Metropolitan Opera, Giulio Gatti-Casazza (1869-1940) about professional matters: “…je prepare ‘Manon’, ‘Juliet’ et ‘Pagliacci’ – vous avez parlez de ‘Manon’ à notre dernier conversation à New York et j’ai arrangez plusieurs representations en France et en Belgique (…) J’espère que je chanterai ‘Juliette’ à Paris aussi – je veux être prête pour New York et si possible faire les souffrants critics take notice!…”. Size is 5.9 x 7.75 inches, 3 written pages in one folded sheet with the letterhead of Casa Lauretta, irregularly cut borders, folds, in overall very good condition.

Famous American soprano and actress (1898-1947), who helped popularize opera by taking it to a bigger audience through movies. Autograph letter in English signed by her, dated Oct. 22, 1927, to Charles Magnes: “…I haven’t a press agent and should like to engage the fellow who wrote that article for Musical America – He didn’t leave anything out! They must have looked up all my ‘foolish past’ in the Sam Harris scrap book (…) I decided Spain was too much responsibility for the moment – I though forever. So I’m returning very single and happy (…)I’ll be home to work, work – My beau has gone away with a heavy heart and I’ve been ill from a cold and understanding again that Art must be my great love for a while…”. Size is 5.25 x 7.25 inches each page, four written pages in one folded sheet with letterhead of Hotel Astoria (Paris), fold, in excellent condition.

French baritone (1828-1886) who created the role of Monfort in the French world-premiere of Verdi's "Les Vepres Siciliannes". Autograph letter in French signed by him, to Leon Escudier, editor of Verdi's works and Director of the Theatre Italien in Paris, about professional matters. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet (front an back), with his monogram, in very good condition.

Italian bass (1831-1892), who specialized in basso buffo roles in bel canto operas, sang in many important theaters in Europe and South America. Autograph letter in Italian signed by him as “A. Bottero”, dated in Roma, March 24, 1878, to the Turin music publishers Giudici & Strada: "... Beautiful, indeed beautiful booklet. The Musicians, although the part of Battisolfa is a little odious, it does not matter, I will do it with great pleasure; I'm looking forward to hearing his music...", etc. Size is 5.5 x 8.5 inches each page, 1 written page in one folded sheet, vertical crease across, in overall excellent condition.

Hungarian bass-baritone (1905-1972), signed photograph, shown as Wotan in Wagner's Ring Cycle, dated in Budapest in 1941. Size is 4 x 5.5 inches, small creases on bottom left and right, otherwise in very good condition. 

Italian baritone (1842-1915), creator of the role of Barnaba in the world premiere of Ponchielli's La Gioconda (1876). Set of 2 autograph letters in Italian signed by him, as follows: A. Trieste, 1896, Size is 6.75 x 8.3 inches, 2 written pages (front and back), folds, stains, in very good condition. B. Brescia, 1883. American soprano (1900-?), also known as Lenore Cohron. Nice sepia photograph signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment dated 1931, here shown as Aida in Verdi's opera. Size is 7.5 x 9.4 inches, creases over the lower-right border, otherwise in very good condition.

French soprano (1846-?) at the Opéra Comique, who debuted in Les Huguenots as Marguerite de Valois in 1875. Fine cabinet photograph of her mounted on a mat by Walery (Paris) and signed by the soprano with a short text on the back. Total size is 6.2 x 8.3 inches, spotted rust on the front, in very good condition.

Russian baritone (1845-1920). Rare cabinet photograph signed and inscribed by him, dated June 29, 1895. Photograph by Ivan Diagovchenko (Moscow). Size is 4.2 x 6.3 inches, some dust stains, wear over the corners, in overall very good condition.
