Russian-born opera and ballet stage designer and painter (1899-1972), associated to the Metropolitan Opera of New York for some productions.  Set of 10 original costume designs for a production of Otello at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, 1962, in ink on light cardboard paper, each one being 7 x 9.75 inches in size. In an original envelope from the Met Opera, all in excellent condition, see scans. 

Czech bass of Jewish origin (1919-1995) who survived the Theresienstadt and Auschwitz concentration camps to become a celebrated performer in many international opera houses. Signed photo, shown in Veselohra na mostě, a one-act "radio opera" by Bohuslav Martinu, signed in 1987. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, very slight paper loss on far left of photo but otherwise in excellent condition.

Unsigned concert program for a performance by the Russian pianist of Liszt's 1st and Brahms' 1st Piano Concertos in Philadelphia, on February 27th, 1978, with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Eugene Ormandy.  Size is 6 x 9 inches, 4 pages, in excellent condition.

Program for a performance of Franz Liszt's Piano Concerto No.1 by the celebrated Russian pianist with the Radio-Symphonie-Orchester Berlin conducted by Lopez-Cobos, signed by both artists in their corresponding bio pages, and also signed by the Korean-born German composer Isang Yung. Size is 7.25 x 8.25 inches, full program with all pages and covers, in excellent condition.

Russian pianist (1930-2005), hailed for a huge, thunderous technique that made him a thrilling interpreter of Liszt and Rachmaninoff. Nice black-and-white photograph signed by him, shown in a rehearsal. Size is 8.1 x 10.2 inches, in excellent condition.

French stage and film actress (1844-1923), one of the most prominent actresses of her time, Bernhardt premiered some of the most famous French plays of the late 19th-early 20th century.  Larger size photograph signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment in French, dated in 1911.  Photograph is printed on verso by photographer Reutlinger, Paris.  Size is 8 x 11.3 inches, damage on the corner with a small loss of paper over the upper-left corner, mounting traces on verso, otherwise in very good condition.

Downey photographers, Newcastle on Tyne, along with a payment receipt from the London & County Banking Company, dated in 1894, a 1881 unsigned playbill from the Carltheater in Vienna (7.25 x 9.25 inches on solid cardboard), an 5.75 x 8.5 inch autograph letter signed from her son Maurice, dated in Paris in 1935 (written in French and sold untranslated) on the stationary of the Theatre Sarah Bernhardt (some holes in the paper but not affecting text and signature), and an unsigned 3.5 x 5.5 inch postcard half-tone photograph by Reutlinger, Paris, shown as herself. In mostly very good condition, not sold separately.

French architect (1845-1919), mostly known for having conceived the Théâtre National de l'Opéra-Comique. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) on the two sides of a card signed by him, dated May 22, [1911], where he addresses a gentleman, concerning the first performance of Debussy's "Martyre de Saint Sébastien" at Théâtre du Chatelet: "...J'avait été décidé hier (...) que la répétition général du "Martyre de S. Sébastien" serait purement et simplement supprimé en raison de la catastrophe d'Issy. Les protestations du public furent si violentes que cette répétitions réservée alors à la presse seule, eût lieu devant 2000 spectateurs....". Size is 475 x 3.6 inches, in very good condition. The "catastrophe d'Issy-les-Moulineaux" was an airplane accident during the 1911 Paris-Madrid air race that injured several public figures such as the War Minister Maurice Berteaux, President Ernest Monis, and Henry Deutsch de la Meurthe. 

Concert program with Bernstein conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, signed on an insert (postcard from the Vienna Festival 1979 depicting Vienna Konzerthaus). Size is 14 x 10 cm. Music performed was Haydn: Theresien Mass and Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5. Vienna, May 27th, 1979. Program size is 10 x 21 cm, paperback, 8 pages, storage holes not affecting signatures, otherwise in very good condition.
