Italian tenor (1882-1917) who had a short but successful career in Europe, Latin America and the United States, seen as a possible successor to Caruso before his untimely death from a brain tumor at age 35. Very attractive large photograph exceptionally clear signed and inscribed by him, dated in 1915. Size is 8.5 x 11 inches, in excellent condition!

Italian tenor (1882-1917). Nice sepia photograph mounted on soft paper signed by him, dated 1916. Size is 5.1 x 6.3 inches, mounting traces on verso, in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a short autograph note with the letterhead of the Hotel in Boston signed by him and written in English, dated 1916, thanking a fan.

Italian bass (1831-1892), who specialized in basso buffo roles in bel canto operas, sang in many important theaters in Europe and South America. Autograph letter in Italian signed by him as “A. Bottero”, dated in Roma, March 24, 1878, to the Turin music publishers Giudici & Strada: "... Beautiful, indeed beautiful booklet. The Musicians, although the part of Battisolfa is a little odious, it does not matter, I will do it with great pleasure; I'm looking forward to hearing his music...", etc. Size is 5.5 x 8.5 inches each page, 1 written page in one folded sheet, vertical crease across, in overall excellent condition.

Italian bass (1831-1892), who specialized in basso buffo roles in bel canto operas, sang in many important theaters in Europe and South America. Autograph letter signed, dated by him in 1887, asking somebody (probably a theater manager) to include Il Barbiere di Siviglia in the repertoire for the current season. One single sheet handwritten on both sides (folded into 4 pages of which 3 are handwritten by him, the 3rd is signed). Size of the entire sheet is 7 x 9 inches, in Italian, sold with a translation (see scans).

Giovanni Bottesini was an Italian composer (1821-1889) and virtuoso bass player, his father Pietro (1792-1874) was a clarinetist and lesser-known composer. Giovanni is known for his music for bass and chamber music.  Rare album page signed by both Giovanni and Pietro, and other unidentified signatures, dated in Liverpool in 1849. Page is 7 x 8.75 inches, minor stains, in very good condition.

Album page signed by Italian composer and double bass virtuoso Giovanni Bottesini (1821-1889), soprano Carlotta Patti (1840-1889, sister of star soprano Adelina Patti), Italian pianist, composer and conductor Tito Mattei (1839-1914), plus 2 unidentified signtures. Dated in 1878 by Patti. Page is 6.25 x 7.2 inches, overall age staining, minor rust over the edges, in very good condition.

Italian Romantic composer (1821-1889), who was also conductor and a double bass virtuoso. Signature cut, inscribed to famous violinist Camilla Urso, dated in Dublin in 1887. Signature is on a piece of paper that is 7.9 x 2.5 inches and is attached to an album page that is 8.4 x 6.5 inches, all in very good condition.

British novelist (1882-1963). Autograph letter signed by her dated April 1937. Size is 4.5 x 6.9 inches, 1 page, 2 written pages (front and back), in excellent condition.

English poet (1874-1948), mostly known for his dramas and plays for the stage. Autograph letter signed by him, dated in Silverdale, November 25th, 1923. Size is 4.3 x 6.9 inches, 2 pages written on both sides of a sheet, central fold, in excellent condition.

American actor (b.1951) and film producer; active since 1970. Black-and-white promo photograph signed by him, shown in "The Other Side of the Mountain" (1978). Size is 8 x 9.8 inches, in excellent condition.

Russian chess grandmaster (1911-1995) and World Chess Champion.  Card signed by him, size is 5.75 x 3.3 inches, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a page from a magazine or brochure, showing him in a game against Gregory Levenfish (1889-1961).  Size is 7.4 x 9.6 inches, in excellent condition.

French author and playwright (1810-1870). Autograph letter signed, dated in Paris in 1863, 2 pages, written in French, sold untranslated.  Clear handwriting and signature. Each page is 5.25 x 8 inches, in excellent condition.

French actor (1837-1920), and creator of a large number of roles in plays by Labiche and operettas by Offenbach. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, dated May 3, 1876, addressed to the dramatist William Busnach (1832-1907): “….Selon la promesse que vous m’avez faite, je viens vous demander l’autorisation de jouer ‘Mon mari est à Versaille’ dans tous les départements…”. Size is 4.2 x 5.4 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet (front and back), letterhead from "Théatre des Variétés", folds, creases, rust stains, in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a caricature portrait drawn by Grandval depicting Baron.  Size is 7 x 9 inches, in excellent condition.

French violinist (1778-1861), first violin at the court of Ferdinand VII of Spain. Autograph note in French (untranslated) signed by him, dated March 9, 1829, addressed to the dramatist Théophile Marion Dumersan (1780-1849) about an upcoming appointment.  Size is 8 x 4.8 inches, rust stains, creases, in overall good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an autograph document signed by him, dated May 17, 1828, an Annual grant accorded to the violinist by the “Fonds de réserve” of the Département de Beaux-Arts. In 1821 the composer Carl Maria von Weber conducted a concert in Berlin, in which Boucher was a performer, playing Weber's Variations on a Norwegian Air, to which he added his own cadenza. In April 1822 he visited Ludwig van Beethoven; at the occasion, the composer wrote for Boucher a piece for two violins (WoO 34 in the Kinsky–Halm Catalogue).

French violinist (1778-1861), who performed throughout Europe. Boucher was noted for having a resemblance to Napoleon. Autograph letter signed, to an unknown recipient. Four pages, in French, sold untranslated. Each page is 7.75 x 9.75 inches, some loss of paper, mostly over the margins, minor stains, otherwise in very good condition.

French soprano (1918-2017) and French-Canadian tenor (1906-1974), double signed program of a 1950 performance of Charpentier's Louise at the Paris Opera Comique. Full program with all pages and covers included, both artist's signatures are on photos of themselves on one of the earlier pages. Size of each page is 4.75 x 6 inches, in excellent condition. 

Program for a performance of Puccini's Madama Butterfly starred by the French soprano at Theatre National de l'Opera Comique, on May 22nd, 1945.  An unidentified signature can be found on verso.  Size is 3.5 x 4 inches, full program with all pages and covers.

German composer (1878-1960), well-known for his operas and choral music. Fine half-tone photograph (clipped from a magazine or program) signed by him at the bottom.  Size is 3.4 x 3.7 inches, minor stains on corners, in very good condition.

English composer (1878-19690), well-known in th early 20th century for his operas and poem music. Signed portrait with a short music quote (four bars from "song of liberty"). Size is 6.25 x 9.25 inches, in excellent condition.

Appeared in the world premiere productions of the operas Le Maitre de Chapelle, L'Ambrassadrice, Le Domino Noir, and La Fille du Regiment.  Was also the grandmother of the famous French composer, conductor, organist and influential teacher, Nadia (Juliette) Boulanger.  Signed receipt payment on a 4.5 x 7 inch album page, written in French, sold untranslated. Bold handwriting and signature. Some creases on edges, otherwise in very good condition.
