German-born American conductor (1862-1950) and composer, is best remembered today as the long-time director of the New York Symphony Orchestra. Sepia photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment. Size is 8 x 9.8 inches, also signed by photographer Raymond Jackson in red crayon over the lower-right corner, in excellent condition.

French conductor (1840-1905), violinist, and composer, whose conducting career focused mostly on opera. Set of two autograph letters signed, dated in 1882. Written in French on letterhead of the Opera Comique, sold untranslated. First letter is 3 pages of text on a four-sided folded document, second letter has 1 page of text, also on a four-sided folded document. Total size unfolded is 10.5 x 5.25 inches, both are in excellent condition.

French conductor (1840-1905), violinist, and composer, whose conducting career focused mostly on opera. Autograph note on a carte-telegramme signed by him, dated 1884 [postal marks indicate Dec 84], to the French composer Léo Delibes, concerning the talent of the stage singer Lucien Fugère, performing in Delibes’ opera “Le roi l’a dit” (1873): "... In telling you that I am almost as happy as you are with your Lucien, I will not surprise you, but what I also wish to tell you is with what sympathy and satisfaction the news was learned last night at the orchestra...". Size is 5.1 x 2.9 inches, overall rust tone, in excellent condition.

French conductor (1840-1905), violinist, and composer, whose conducting career focused mostly on opera. Set of 2 autograph notes in French (sold untranslated), signed by him. Both notes have the letterhead of the Theatre National de L’Opera -Comique, one is dated in 1881 and is 5.4 x 8.25 inches, while the other is dated in 1887, sized 4.25 x 3.25 inches, in good condition.

German conductor (1886-1952). Autograph album sheet with a short note signed by the conductor, dated October 31, 1934. Size is 5.4 x 7.8 inches, age-toning, in very good condition. This sheet comes from the personal album of the Catalan violinist Joaquin Mestres, a member of the Orchestre Pau Casals. 1 p. In fine condition. The New York Philharmonic received this note from t Albert Einstein two years after he immigrated to the US to avoid Nazism in Germany. He requested the Philharmonic perform an arrangement of J.S. Bach's The Art of the Fugue by German conductor Georg Darmstadt. Einstein was a music lover and known to attend Philharmonic concerts on occasion. The Philharmonic was able to program this piece for its New York Premiere in 1940, coincidentally the same year Einstein gained American citizenship. 

Portuguese conductor (1896-1963). Beautiful black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment dated in Roma, 1942; photo by Silvia Nogueira (Lisbon). Size is 4.5 x 6.75 inches, in excellent condition.

Dutch conductor (1825-1909) whose career developed mostly in France. Set of two autograph letters in French (untranslated) signed by him, as follows: A. Amsterdam, November 21, 1855. To a gentleman, concerning his opus 52 “Pensée de minuit”: “…Voir seulement que vous n’avez pas mis le moindre empressement à vous occuper un peu de ma “Pensée de Minuit” le morceau que vous m’avez gravé l’hiver dernier et qui obtint un si beau succès; bien que et en ayant jamais annoncé la publication dans votre Journal, ainsi que vous me l’aviez promis, on est allé jusqu’à refuser le morceau…”. 3 pp.  B. Dutch conductor (1825-1909) whose career developed mostly in France. Set of two letters signed (one autograph), both dated 1852 by the Dutch composer and conductor.  Letters are addressed to a gentlemen and concern a meeting and an upcoming performance: “…je prends la liberté de vous offrir ci-joint quelques invitations pour la soirée musicale que je donnerai le jeudi 29 Avril dans la Salle Herz pour l’audition de mes compositions…”.  Sizes are 8.2 x 5.1 (open size), 3 written pages in one folded sheet; and 5.2 x 8 inches, 1 page; both in very good condition.

Italian conductor and composer (1892-1967), one of the most important opera conductors of the 20th century. Nice black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment. Stamped on verso by photographer Anatole Saderman. Size is 3.75 x 5.5 inches, mounting traces on verso and slight paper loss on edges, otherwise in very good condition.

Belgian conductor (1885-1960) and violinist, who became a refugee during WWI in Great Britain. Autograph letter in French signed by him, dated in Brussels, October 18, 1938, to maestro Tebaldini: "... I have not received the consignment you are talking about, i.e. the transcriptions (Frescobaldi-Bassani-Scarlatti-Legrenzi) I hope the consignment is not lost. As soon as I have a moment to see the Rapsodia di Pasqua, I will write to you...". Size is 8.3 x 10.6 inches, 1 written page, letterhead, folds, in very good condition.

Belgian conductor (1885-1930) and violinist, music director of the Montreal and Chicago Symphony Orchestras.Typed letter in French (untranslated) with the letterhead of the Belgian National Institute of Radio Difusion signed by her, dated in Brussels, 1932, mentioning he received a letter from Mr. Gershwin allowing the use of one of his music. Size is 8.2 x 10.7 inches, 1 page, folds, in very good condition.

Swiss conductor (1908-1986). Autograph note in French signed by him as “V. Desarzens” dated April 17, 1960, to architect Henri-Robert Von der Mühll (1898-1980) :  "... I, and, we don't know if we... It doesn't matter: we will have "noted" what we thought was necessary, simply necessary, to note. I'll leave you musically with all 4 hands.". Size is 5.8 x 4.1 inches, in excellent condition. Russian-born Norwegian conductor (1891-1953) and pianist, whose career began as a pianist but moved to conducting in the  mid-1920s. Grogeous black and white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment, dated in Los Angeles, 1935.  Size is 5.3 x 7.4 inches, mounting traces on verso, otherwise in excellent condition.

German opera conductor (1891-1962). Autograph letter on cardboard, in German and signed by him, dated 21/I/1930, to a lady, concerning an upcoming concert engaging “Graf [Angelo] Scandiani" (1872-1930), baritone and director at La Scala.  Size is 5.8 x 4.5 inches, 2 written pages (front and back), storage holes, letterhead, in overall very good condition.

German conductor (1891-1962), a pupil of Fritz Steinbach and Hermann Abendroth. Fine 2-bar autograph music quote from "Tristan und Isolde" signed by him, matted together with a photo postcard of him. Total size is 8.2 x 13 inches, music quote is 3.75 x 2.3 inches (visible window size), photo postcard id 3.1 x 4.8 inches (visible window size), in excellent condition.

Italian conductor (1906-1954) who made himself known for conducting at the age of four at the Trocadéro in Paris and at the age of six at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. Black-and-white photograph signed by him, dated 1913, shown at a podium. Size is 6.25 x 9.5 inches approximately, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an unsigned black-and-white photo postcard dated 1912, here shown as a kid in a conducting pose. Some autograph lines on verso by a third hand with the program of the concert at Teatro Costanzi (Rome) on November 11, 1912. English conductor (b.1943), most famous for his interpretations of Baroque music on period instruments with the Monteverdi Choir and the English Baroque Soloists. Signed photograph, stamped on verso by photographer Schaffler, Salzburg. Size is 4x6 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian conductor (1909-1996), who was also a pianist, composer, and musicologist. His career focused mostly on opera and recorded some of them. Fine black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment dated 1959; ink-stamped on verso by photographer Erio Piccagliani (Teatro Alla Scala). Size is 4.1 x 5.75 inches, in excellent condition.

Romanian conductor (1887-1964). Fine black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment in French dated in Rome, 1938. Size is 3.5 x 5.4 inches approx., in excellent condition.

French-born conductor (1867-1958) and violinist.  Fantastic black-and-white studio photograph mounted on a mat signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment dated 1939. Total size is 10.8 x 14.1 inches, photo is 7.25 x 9.25 inches, in excellent condition.

French conductor (1781-1849) and violinist, who became the founding conductor of the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire in 1828.Fine printed debt acknowledgment filled by hand, certified with an attached autograph note by Habeneck, in favor of the clarinetist François Dacosta (1778-1866) for January 1842. Also signed by Dacosta and by the director of the Académie Royale de Musique Léon Pillet (1803-1868). Size is 8.1 x 10.1 inches, some smudges, overall age-toning, in very good condition.  

German conductor and composer (1849-1914), was the chief conductor in Lubec in the 1880s. Beautiful signed cabinet photo, dated in Lubeck in 1905, inscribed. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Dutch-born American conductor (1881-1966), composer, and pianist. Nice black-and-white half-tone photograph (a full page from a program or magazine) signed by him.  Size is 7.6 x 10.7 inches, in excellent condition.

American conductor (1861-1933), violinist, and composer, who formed the Los Angeles Women's Orchestra in 1893 and the Los Angeles Symphony in 1897. Fine autograph letter signed by him, dated in Los Angeles, December 18, 1900, to the Italian violinist Achille Simonetti (1857-1928): “…Since I returned to America over four years ago, I have been doing more in the way of conducting and seem to have found that my forte lies more in that direction than in violin playing alone. (…) As soon as I arrived here from London my old position as chef d’orchestre in the principal theatre in this city, was offered to me, and I have kept it ever since…”. American baritone (b.1955), internationally celebrated for both opera and lieder and star Austrian conductor (1929-2016), particularly known for his historically informed performances of music from the Classical era and earlier. Double signed photograph, showing them in discussion, photo is stamped on verso by photographer Schaffler, Salzburg. Size is 4 x 6 inches, in excellent condition.

German conductor (1866-1927) and director of the Frankfurt Opera Theater. Set of two autograph letters signed by him, as follows: A. Wiesbaden 27 October 1908, to an editor, giving biographical details and thanking him for his availability. B. July 16, 1888, to a gentleman, inviting him on behalf of Mrs. Wagner to his upcoming performances.  Sizes are 5.3 x 6.6 inches, 3 written pages in one folded sheet, folds, rust stains, in very good condition (1908), and 5.6 x 8.6 inches, 1 page, with letterhead, in very good condition.
