Conductors Signed Program Pages is a remarkable collection of 42 original program or cast pages signed by some of the world’s most renowned conductors. This lot includes autographs from legendary maestros such as Alexander Schneider, Antal Dorati, Carlo Maria Giulini, Erich Leinsdorf, Eugene Ormandy, Kurt Sanderling, Lorin Maazel, Seiji Ozawa, Zubin Mehta, Sergiu Comissiona, Christoph von Dohnanyi, James Conlon, Eve Queler, Georg Solti, Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, James Levine, Karl Böhm, Kurt Masur, Pierre Boulez, Rafael Kubelik, Riccardo Muti, and Robert Shaw. Pages come in two sizes — 8.25 x 11 inches and 5.7 x 8.9 inches — all in excellent condition. 

Italian conductor (1877-1948), composer, and professor of piano at Torino Conservatory between 1936 and 1948. Autograph letter in Italian signed by him and dated 1913 (according to postal markings), addressed to journalist Nino Berrini (1880-1962) informing him about the poor health of one of his closest friends. Open size is 10.4 x 6.9 inches approx., 4 written pages in one folded sheet, central fold, creases, in very good condition. Its original envelope is ALSO INCLUDED.

Italian conductor (1855-1919). Nice larger cabinet photo by Dolce (Montevideo) signed and inscribed by Conti with a short sentiment dated in San Pablo, 1893. Size is 6.6 x 9.6 inches, small hole over the upper-left border, minor spotted rust, in overall very good condition.

Russian conductor and violinist (1877-1960), long-time staff conductor at the Met Opera in New York. Signed photo postcard, with signature and inscription on verso, dated in 1924. Blind stamped by photographer. Size is 3.25 x 5.25 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian conductor (1852-1908), pedagogue, and composer. Autograph letter in Italian (untranslated) signed by him and dated 1895, sent to a colleague about business matters. Size is 4.3 x 7 inches approx., three written pages in one folded sheet, central fold, aging tone, in overall very good condition.

American conductor (1923-2015) and close friend of composer Igor Stravinsky.  Beautiful black and white photograph, signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment.  Size is 7 x 8.4 inches, trimmed from a larger size, ink-writings on verso, otherwise in very good condition.

Italian bandmaster (1871-1952), famous in both Italy and the USA, who recorded extensively.  Great black and white photograph signed by him, shown young (very rare!).  Size is 5 x 6.8 inches, in very good condition.  

Hungarian-born French pianist (1921-1994), conductor, and composer. Nice photograph signed by him, shown young conducting; ink-stamped on verso by photographer Guy Verwimp, Ambers. Size is 3.5 x 5.3 inches, in excellent condition.

German-born American conductor and educator (1859-1937). Album page signed by him with a short sentiment dated in New York, January 6, 1920.  On verso, the album page is also signed with a short sentiment dated May 20, 1920, by the American pianist Olga Samaroff, pupil of Charles-Valentin Alkan. Size is 7.8 x 5 inches, in excellent condition.

German conductor and composer (1832-1885), who started his career in Germany but later migrated to America where he became a conductor and a composer; founding the Oratorio Society of New York in 1873. Rare signed photo, dated by him in Leipzig, Germany, in 1858, shown young, a photo by A. Schenk, Weimar with an original photographer mat. Size is 6.25 x 8.1 inches, in excellent condition. Autographs of Leopold Damrosch are very rare, and this is the finest I have ever seen.

German-born American conductor (1862-1950) and composer, is best remembered today as the long-time director of the New York Symphony Orchestra. Fine collection of 4 autograph letters signed by him, 1 handwritten envelope, plus 4 typed letters signed by him. Various sizes and lengths, in very good or better condition. Sepia photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment. Size is 8 x 9.8 inches, also signed by photographer Raymond Jackson in red crayon over the lower-right corner, in excellent condition.

French conductor (1840-1905), violinist, and composer, whose conducting career focused mostly on opera. Set of two autograph letters signed, dated in 1882. Written in French on letterhead of the Opera Comique, sold untranslated. First letter is 3 pages of text on a four-sided folded document, second letter has 1 page of text, also on a four-sided folded document. Total size unfolded is 10.5 x 5.25 inches, both are in excellent condition.

French conductor (1840-1905), violinist, and composer, whose conducting career focused mostly on opera. Autograph note on a carte-telegramme signed by him, dated 1884 [postal marks indicate Dec 84], to the French composer Léo Delibes, concerning the talent of the stage singer Lucien Fugère, performing in Delibes’ opera “Le roi l’a dit” (1873): "... In telling you that I am almost as happy as you are with your Lucien, I will not surprise you, but what I also wish to tell you is with what sympathy and satisfaction the news was learned last night at the orchestra...". Size is 5.1 x 2.9 inches, overall rust tone, in excellent condition.

French conductor (1840-1905), violinist, and composer, whose conducting career focused mostly on opera. Set of 2 autograph notes in French (sold untranslated), signed by him. Both notes have the letterhead of the Theatre National de L’Opera -Comique, one is dated in 1881 and is 5.4 x 8.25 inches, while the other is dated in 1887, sized 4.25 x 3.25 inches, in good condition.

Belarusian-born British conductor (1883-1947) and composer of light music - mostly songs. Signed photo postcard, 3.5 x 5.25 inches, in excellent condition

English musical prodigy child and conductor (1894-1929), who died at age 35. Darewski was also a successful song composer, lead many brass bands during his short life. Signed photo postcard, inscribed and dated in 1905. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, in excellent condition.

German conductor (1886-1952). Autograph album sheet with a short note signed by the conductor, dated October 31, 1934. Size is 5.4 x 7.8 inches, age-toning, in very good condition. This sheet comes from the personal album of the Catalan violinist Joaquin Mestres, a member of the Orchestre Pau Casals. 1 p. In fine condition. The New York Philharmonic received this note from t Albert Einstein two years after he immigrated to the US to avoid Nazism in Germany. He requested the Philharmonic perform an arrangement of J.S. Bach's The Art of the Fugue by German conductor Georg Darmstadt. Einstein was a music lover and known to attend Philharmonic concerts on occasion. The Philharmonic was able to program this piece for its New York Premiere in 1940, coincidentally the same year Einstein gained American citizenship. 

American conductor (1884-?), former member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and known for his association with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra in Indiana (USA). Nice sepia photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment. Size is 8 x 9.9 inches, in excellent condition.

Danish conductor (b. 1963), currently principal conductor of the BBC Sciottish Symphony Orchestra. Signed photo, size is 8 x 10 inches, in excellent condition.

British conductor (1922-2005), renowned for his advocacy of English music by composers such as Britten, Delius, and Vaughan Williams. Fine black-and-white promo photograph signed by him with a short sentiment on the front plus another sentiment and a short 2-bar music quote on verso; ink-stamped on verso by photographer Carmen (Buenos Aires). Size is 4 x 5.8 inches, in excellent condition.

French conductor (1928-1997) and musicologist of Portuguese-American descent. Signed photo postcard shown young, inscribed and dated in Paris, 1963. Size is 4 x 5.75 inches, minor crease over lower right corner, otherwise in very good condition.

Brazilian conductor and composer (1912-1996), noted as a champion of contemporary music. Signed photo, inscribed and dated in Saint Louis in 1968. Size is 8 x 9.75 inches, in very good condition.

Dutch conductor (1825-1909) whose career developed mostly in France. Set of two autograph letters in French (untranslated) signed by him, as follows: A. Amsterdam, November 21, 1855. To a gentleman, concerning his opus 52 “Pensée de minuit”: “…Voir seulement que vous n’avez pas mis le moindre empressement à vous occuper un peu de ma “Pensée de Minuit” le morceau que vous m’avez gravé l’hiver dernier et qui obtint un si beau succès; bien que et en ayant jamais annoncé la publication dans votre Journal, ainsi que vous me l’aviez promis, on est allé jusqu’à refuser le morceau…”. 3 pp.  B. Dutch conductor (1825-1909) whose career developed mostly in France. Set of two letters signed (one autograph), both dated 1852 by the Dutch composer and conductor.  Letters are addressed to a gentlemen and concern a meeting and an upcoming performance: “…je prends la liberté de vous offrir ci-joint quelques invitations pour la soirée musicale que je donnerai le jeudi 29 Avril dans la Salle Herz pour l’audition de mes compositions…”.  Sizes are 8.2 x 5.1 (open size), 3 written pages in one folded sheet; and 5.2 x 8 inches, 1 page; both in very good condition.

Italian conductor (b.1962), best known for his interpretations of baroque opera and oratorios, as leader of the Academia Montis Regalis orchestra. Signed color photo, showing him at work. Size 10 x 8 inches.

Ducth-born Canadian conductor (1887-1966), notably the first conductor of both the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra. Autograph letter in English signed by him and dated 1950. Size is 7.25 x 10.4 inches, 1 page, letterhead, folds, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a promotional brochure about him with his facsimile (printed) signature. Size is 6.25 x 9.5 inches, 4 pages, in very good condition.

Size is 8.5 x 10.8 inches approx., 2 written pages, folds, rust stains, storage holes, otherwise in very good condition.

Belgian conductor (1885-1960) and violinist, who became a refugee during WWI in Great Britain. Autograph letter in French signed by him, dated in Brussels, October 18, 1938, to maestro Tebaldini: "... I have not received the consignment you are talking about, i.e. the transcriptions (Frescobaldi-Bassani-Scarlatti-Legrenzi) I hope the consignment is not lost. As soon as I have a moment to see the Rapsodia di Pasqua, I will write to you...". Size is 8.3 x 10.6 inches, 1 written page, letterhead, folds, in very good condition.

Belgian conductor (1885-1930) and violinist, music director of the Montreal and Chicago Symphony Orchestras.Typed letter in French (untranslated) with the letterhead of the Belgian National Institute of Radio Difusion signed by her, dated in Brussels, 1932, mentioning he received a letter from Mr. Gershwin allowing the use of one of his music. Size is 8.2 x 10.7 inches, 1 page, folds, in very good condition.

French conductor (1917-1992), who was also pedagogue and composer. Signed photograph shown possibly signing an autograph, inscribed with a short sentiment. Size is 4 x 6 inches, in very good condition. 

Swiss conductor (1908-1986). Autograph note in French signed by him as “V. Desarzens” dated April 17, 1960, to architect Henri-Robert Von der Mühll (1898-1980) :  "... I, and, we don't know if we... It doesn't matter: we will have "noted" what we thought was necessary, simply necessary, to note. I'll leave you musically with all 4 hands.". Size is 5.8 x 4.1 inches, in excellent condition.
