Recently Added Authentic Autographs and Memorabilia

German tenor (1860-1934), autograph note signed, 1 page, dated in Budapest in 1899. Written in German, sold untranslated. Bold handwriting and signature. Size is 5.25 x 8 inches, well preserved in good condition. 

Collection of fourteen autographed items, mostly of leading opera singers from the 1940s's to the 1990s, as well as of one actor. This group consists of both signed cards and signed album pages, ranging in size from 3 x 5 inches to 3.5 x 6.25 inches.  The opera singers include such prominent artists as Grace Bumbry, Grace Moore, Birgit Nilsson, Leyontyne Price, Shirley Verrett, Regine Crespin, Rita Stevens, and Zinka Milanov, there is also a signature from the actor Leif Erickson. Most cards contain a signature on only one side, but one has a different signatures on each of the 2 sides. . Most have very clear handwriting and signatures and all are in extremely good, well-preserved condition. Collection of thirty seven autographed items by prominent opera singers from the 1900s's to the 1940s including mostly signed album pages, as well as signed cards. Includes such leading artists as Frederick Jagel, Friedrich Schorr, Elisabeth Schumann, Johanna Gadski, Lily Pons, Lotte Lehmann, Tito Gobbi, Richard Crooks, Maggie Teyte, and Tito Schipa among others. Several pages contain a signature on one side, others have different signatures on both sides. Sizes range from 3.25 x 5 inches to 4 x 6.5 inches. Most have very clear handwriting and signatures and all are in extremely good, well-preserved condition. See scans - not sold individually.

American theatre director and librettist (b. 1957) noted for his unique contemporary stagings of classical and contemporary operas and plays.  Signed photograph, shown as himself. Photo by Thomas Ramstorfer. Size is 7 x 9.5 inches, in excellent condition. 

Italian soprano (1906-1987), sang widely in Italy and throughout Europe, particularly La Scala. Signed photograph, shown as herself, being interviewed for the 1984 documentary "Il Bacio di Tosca" about the "Casa di Riposo per Musicisti" in Milan, the nursing home for retired opera singers in which she lived (and that had been founded by Giuseppe Verdi in 1896). In this photo she is holding up a framed large photograph of herself in the role of Tosca. Size of these photo is 4 x 5.75 inches, bold signature, item is in excellent condition. 

American soprano (1864-1903), admired by Massenet and Saint-Saens, creator of the role of Esclarmonde in 1889. Autograph note signed on both sides of a 2-sided 3.25 x 5 inch card with her initials as letterhead on top left, in excellent condition. Written in French, sold untranslated. ALSO INCLUDED is an unsigned cabinet photograph, shown as herself, photo by Charles Reutlinger, Paris. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, small cracks on top right and left and mounting traces on verso, otherwise in very good condition.  

French mezzo-soprano  (1917-2011), signed postcard photograph, shown as Dalila in Saint Saen's Samson et Dalila. Inscribed. Photo by Lipnitzki photography studio, Paris. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, in very good condition.

Hungarian pianist (1922-2000). Fine black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a long sentiment, dated in New Orleans, 1959, shown in rehearsal.  Size is 7.9 x 9.9 inches, minor cracks on borders, in overall very good condition.

Set of 2 programs signed by the American pianist (b.1948). One of them is a trifold program for a concert in Carmel, CA, USA, on November 9th, 1972, size is 6.1 x 9 inches, in excellent condition. The second one is a program for a performance in New York, 1972, signed with a pencil by the pianist on the first page. Both are in excellent condition. SOLD TOGETHER, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.

Italian composer (1813-1877), and music teacher. Autograph letter with the letterhead of Regio Conservatorio di Musica (Milano) signed by him, written in Italian (sold untranslated), no date,  Size is 5.4 x 8.25 inches, 1 page, folds, in excellent condition.

American pianist (1881-1971). Fine sepia photograph signed and inscribed by the pianist with a short sentiment, dated in New York, 1926, shown young. Size is 7.75 x 9.8 inches, some stains, some loss of paper over the left corners, otherwise in good condition.

American actor and Broadway performer. Set of 12+ autograph letters signed by him, from around the 1910s.  Various sizes, all in very good condition, some of them have several pages. SOLD ONLY AS A LOT, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.

American composer (1877-1949), and also teacher and conductor. Typed letter with the letterhead of the School of Music at Yale University signed by the composer as the School's dean, dated in New Haven, 1924.  Size is 8.3 x 10.8 inches, 1 page, central fold, in excellent condition.

American composer (1862-1941), teacher, and writer. Set of 4 autograph letters signed by him, no year indicated but circa 1913.  Two of them are 1-page letters and the other two are 2-page letters.  1-page letters are 6.1 x 7.7 inches each, and 2-page letters are 5.25 x 6.9 inches each; folds, all in very good condition. American stage actor (1838-1891). Autograph note signed by him, no date, about sending a check to buy tickets.  Size is 6.8 x 8.75 inches, folds, mounting traces on the front, otherwise in very good condition.

American organist and choral director (? - 1934). Autograph letter signed by him, with his letterhead, about personal matters.  Size is 5.4 x 8.3 inches, 3 pages, folds, in very good condition.

German stage actor. Gorgeous black-and-white half-tone photograph of the actor shown as Petrus in the play "The Passion", signed by him and dated in Oberammergau, Germany, 1910.  Size is 8.3 x 11.25 inches, mounting traces on verso, small missing piece over the lower-right corner, otherwise in excellent condition. The city of Oberammergau stages the play "The Passion" every ten years, as a city tradition since the end of the XVII century.

American composer (1858-1947), organist, and professor. A signature cut of the composer clipped from the bottom of a letter mounted on a clip from a page of an autograph album.  Size is 4.25 x 3 inches, in excellent condition.

German conductor and composer (1859-1939), a noted interpreter of Brahms' music. Set of 2 autograph letters signed by him: one of the is 1 page, dated in Kiel, 1881, size is 5.5 x 8.75 inches; the second one is written on a card, dated in Hamburg, 1885, size is 4.4 x 3.5 inches.  Both are written in German (sold untranslated), both in very good condition. German actor (1823-1880), reciter, and writer. Autograph letter signed by him, written in German (sold untranslated), dated in Hamburg, 1871.  Size is 5 x 8 inches, 2 pages written on both sides of a sheet, folds, in excellent condition.

German painter (1823-1880). Autograph letter signed by him, written in German (sold untranslated), dated in Hamburg, 1872.  Size is 5.4 x 8.3 inches each page, 2 pages written on both sides of one sheet, folds, in excellent condition.

German writer and poet (1834-1910). Autograph letter signed by the writer, written in German (sold untranslated), dated in Charlottenburg, 1887.  Size is 5.7 x 8.75 inches, 2 pages (in one sheet), minor cracks, otherwise in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDE is an envelope, size is 5.75 x 4.7 inches, in very good condition.

Italian actor (1829-1915), whose most successful role was as Otello in Shakespeare's play. Set of two autograph letters signed by the actor, written in Italian (sold untranslated): one of them is a 3-page letter, dated in Rome, 1890, size is 5.25 x 8.3 inches each page, folds, otherwise in very good condition; the second letter is written on both sides of a card with his letterhead, dated in 1890, size is 4.5 x 3.6 inches, in very good condition, and includes its slightly larger envelope handwritten by the actor as well. German historian (1817-1897). Autograph note signed by him, written in German (sold untranslated).  Size is 5.5 x 8.6 inches, 1 page, folds, in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is  an extra page with a text written in Latin by the composer.

German composer (1853-1936) and also conductor and pianist. Autograph letter signed by the composer, written in German (sold untranslated), dated in Hamburg, 1882.  Size is 5 x 7.8 inches, 2 pages (in one sheet), central fold, in excellent condition.

Austrian painter (1832-1903) of Italian ascend. Set of 2 autograph letters signed by the painter: one of them is 2 pages long, the other is 3 pages long; both in German (sold untranslated).  Size is the same for both: 4.5 x 7 inches, central folds, in excellent condition.

German painter (1821-1895), who, at the peak of his fame, was charged for abuse of an underage model, causing a major scandal in Berlin. Autograph letter signed by him, in German (sold untranslated), dated in 1885 (the year of the scandal).  Size is 3.8 x 6 inches, 3 pages in one sheet, in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is his personal card handwritten by him, initialized on verso in pencil, as well as a postcard signed and inscribed by him on verso.

Swiss painter (1852-1942). Autograph letter in French (sold untranslated) signed by him, dated 1911. Size is 11.2 x 8.3 inches, 1 page, central fold, in very good condition.

American actress (1882-1956) and also a singer; active between 1906-1940. Fine black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment; ink-stamped on verso by Studio Strauss-Peyton. Size is 6.8 x 9 inches (probably trimmed from a larger format), minor damage on borders, in overall very good condition.

American violinist (1897-1961) and bandleader, famous during the 1920s and 1930s. Lot of unsigned playbills, programs, ads, and letters to him as well as his personal resumé and articles about his career that probably belonged to him in the past, for a total of 16 items. German soprano (1895-1977), beautiful sepia signed photo, shown as herself, an original photograph by Mishkin, New York. Dated by her in New York in October, 1929. Size is 6 x 8 inches, in excellent condition.
