French theater and film actress (1909-1985). Beautiful black and white photograph signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment, shown young. Photograph is ink-stamped on verso by Studio Star, Paris.  Size is 5 x 7 inches, in very good condition.

British actor, theater director and writer (1887-1964), known mainly for his popular biographies which made him the leading British biographer of his time, in terms of commercial success. Set of 2 1 page typed letters signed, both dated in 1949 addressed to various editors of the Saturday Review of Literature, an American literary publication referring to his published review of a book about George Bernard Shaw. Also included is the 6 page typed review. Each of these three documents are 8 x 10 inches, with several creases and folds, but in otherwise very good condition. Not sold separately.

German stage manager at the Munich Opera and actor (1841-1921). Signed album page with a 3.5 x 5.5 inch photograph mounted on soft cardboard, inscribed and dated in 1913. Signature is on the right side of the album page. Total item size is 8 x 10.25 inches, in excellent condition.

French actress (1843-1885).  Autograph note signed, 1 page, written in French and sold untranslated. Size is 4 x 5.25 inches, in excellent condition. 

American actor (b.1954). American actor (1950). Program for a performance of Sam Shepard's play "True West" (1980) featuring the Quaid brothers and signed on the cover by them.  Size is 5.6 x 8.5 inches, 34 pages, in excellent condition.

English comic actor (1857-1932) of stage and music halls. Fine photo postcard signed by him, shown in role.  Size is 3.3 x 5.5 inches, some silvering, in very good condition.

English actress (1874-1966). Beautiful colorized photo postcard signed by her (face and hat of the image are raised to make it look like a 3D photo. Size is 3.5 x 5.4 inches, some silvering, otherwise in very good condition.

French actress (1856-1920) who became known chiefly for her roles in comedies, but made an impression in serious character parts from time to time. Autograph letter in French signed by her, no year, to her doctor: “...Si comme je le suppose, le dimanche n’est pas pour nous un jour de fête; vous seriez bien aimable d’augmenter demain le nombre de visite...”.  Size is 4 x 6.5 inches, 1 written page, embossed initials at the top, folds, overall rust tone, otherwise in excellent condition.

German actress (1874-1980), her career was both on stage and film, signed cabinet photo by R. Krziwanek, Vienna, shown young, in role. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Distinguished Italian actress (1822-1906), known for tragic dramas,  who was often referred to as the "Marquise".  Signed vintage CDV, shown in role, signed and inscribed on verso, photo by Disderi, Paris. Size is 2.25 x 4 inches, in very good condition. Also included: 1 autograph letter signed, 3 pages writtten in Italian, sold untranslated, dated in Rome in 1890. Size of each page is 4.5 x 7 inches, in excellent condition. Not sold separately.

Australian-born American-based actress (1858-1942), whose career spanned 58 years, starting in 1883. She is best known today for the dozens of 1930s motion pictures she appeared in. Signed photo, inscribed, with a short sentiment. Size is 3.3 x 5.9 inches, in excellent condition.

Famous French actress (1883-1930), signed vintage photo postcard, shown in role, inscribed and dated in 1918. Blind stamped by photographer H. Manuel. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian actor (1829-1915), whose most successful role was as Otello in Shakespeare's play. Set of two autograph letters signed by the actor, written in Italian (sold untranslated): one of them is a 3-page letter, dated in Rome, 1890, size is 5.25 x 8.3 inches each page, folds, otherwise in very good condition; the second letter is written on both sides of a card with his letterhead, dated in 1890, size is 4.5 x 3.6 inches, in very good condition, and includes its slightly larger envelope handwritten by the actor as well. French theater actress (1848-1941). Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by her, dated Sept 29th, 1893, addressed to the French violinist and composer Albert Vizentini (1841-1906): “…Le souvenir que j’ai gardé de mon très court séjour à Gassin n’est m’est que agréable. Cela ne m’empêche pas de m’associer de coeur aux manifestations faites par les français et le très sympathique peuple mais je désir m’en tenir les bien convaincu pour mon très humble concours…”. Size is 9.1 x 7.2 inches, three written pages in one folded sheet, folds, creases, spotted rust stains, in overall very good condition.

German actress (1829-1897), tragic actress, who performed mainly in the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, Schauspielhaus in Berin, associated with her Faust opera she sang over 160 times. Wife of Albert Niemann. Signed cabinet photo, shown as herself. Size is 4.25 x 5.75 inches. Photograph by Franz Koebecke, Dresden, dated in 1889, trimmed on top and bottom.

Italian playwright, writer, critic, and librettist (1875-1952), noted for his close collaboration with Giuseppe Adami on Puccini's Turandot.  Signed photograph, shown as himself, inscribed, dated in Milan in 1916. Blind stamped by photographer A. Badioli, Milan. This is a 3.5 x 5.5 inch photo mounted onto soft cardboard, total item size is 5 x 7.5 inches, in excellent condition.

English actress (b.1934), whose career on film, stage, and television began in the mid-1950s. Poster on soft cardboard promoting the comedy play "Lettice and Lovage" at Barrymore Theatre, New York, no date (probably during the early 1990s), signed by the English actress, plus 12 other signatures of the cast.  Size is 14 x 22 inches, in excellent condition.

American actor (1930-1979). Short typed resume signed by him at the bottom with a small drawing. Size is 8.4 x 11 inches, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a drawing signed by him mounted on a card. Total size is 5 x 7 inches, in very good condition.

Austrian actor (1834-1909), born in Budapest, with a great career on stage. His grand-daughter became the wife of composer Erich Korngold. Signed cabinet photo, shown young, an original photograph by Szekely, Vienna, 4.25 x 6.5 inches, in excellent condition.

French comic actress (1873-1966), who enjoyed great popularity and was known for her extravagant costumes. Signed postcard photograph, shown in role, size is 4 x 5.75 inches in excellent condition. 

German actor (1856-1908). Set of two autograph cards by him and dated in Berlin, May 1892, and May 3, 1892. Stahl writes a quotation from the poem "Zitat zum Thema" by Goethe: “Seh ich die Werke der Meister an,/So seh ich das, was sie gethan,/ Betracht ich meine Siebensachen, Seh ich was ich hätt sollen machen” and signs it at the bottom. In the second document, Stahl cites verses from Goethe as well. Both cards are glued to a piece of paper for a total size of 4.5 x 6.75 inches, overall rust tone, cards in excellent condition.  

English actress (1842-1929). Short poem on an album page signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment dated on January 7, 1874. Size is 8.25 x 10.75 inches, in very good condition.

Austrian actor (1861-1942), father of the great Austrian tenor Richard Tauber, Signed album page, 1 page written in German, most likely dated in 1897. Size is 4.25 x 5.25 inches, very small tear on bottom, otherwise in excellent condition.

English actress and singer (1864-1942). Fantastic cabinet photograph by Sarony (New York) signed by Mrs. Tempest.  Size is 4.4 x 6.5 inches, pinhole over the upper border, marks on verso, in excellent condition.

Fine photo postcard signed by her mounted on a slightly larger light blue cardboard, shown in role in the musical "Quality Street" (1902). Total size is 3.4 x 5.2 inches, pinholes over the upper corners, otherwise in very good condition.

Set of three postcards signed by the English artists who created the leading roles in the world premiere of this very famous play by Oscar Wilde on February 14th, 1895, including George Alexander (1858-1918) as John Worthing, Irene Vanbrugh (1872-1949) as Gwendolen Fairfax, and Evelyn Millard (1869-1941) as Cecily Cardew. English comic actor (1830-1906), actor-manager, and theatrical producer; active between 1852 and 1893. Set of two autograph notes signed by him, dated May 10 and September 14, 1893. In the first note, Toole sends an autograph to an enthusiast; in the second letter he states: “I first played “Caleb Plummer” at the Adelphi Theatre London about 27 years ago”. Each note's size is 4.25 x 6.75 inches, one page each, folds, spotted rust stains, in overall very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an original envelope.
