German tenor (1845-1900). His Wagner repertoire included all the leading tenor roles except Walther in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. His non-Wagner roles included Otello, Canio, Aeneas and Benvenuto Cellini. He was known for his vocal power and stamina, which allowed him to perform Loge, Siegmund and both Siegfrieds from Wagner's Ring cycle on consecutive evenings multiple times.
Signed photo postcard showing the tenor as Lohengrin in Wagner's Opera, with a handwritten note at the bottom. Also handwritten on verso, dated in 1899. Size 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Rare!
