All Newest Opera Autographs

Stage name of Carlo M. Michelangelo Nicola Broschi (1705-1782), probably the most celebrated Italian castrato singer of the 18th Century and considered one of the greatest singers in opera history. Exceedingly rare legal document, related to the ownership of things in a property, signed at the bottom by Farinelli (as Carlo Broschi Farinelli), dated in Madrid in 1754, when Farinelli was indeed in Madrid (he served the Spanish court for 25 years). Document is written by another hand but signed at the bottom by Farinelli. One page of hand-laid paper, 8.25 x 12 inches, central fold, irregular borders, in excellent condition. Autographs of Farinelli as extremely rare and this is the first one we come across, ever!. To the best of our knowledge, the last time there was a Farinelli autograph in the market was at least 3 years ago, and this is also in great condition, with a fabulous signature.

Italian bass-baritone (1805-1875). Autograph letter signed, 2 pages of a folded 4-page document, dated in Genova in 1835, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Size of each page is 7.5 x 9.75 inches, slight tear on front pages, and more significant on back pages without text, otherwise in good condition.

Italian soprano (1831-1901), (sometimes incorrectly called Marcellina), known for Verdi soprano roles, also created parts in several world premieres, including the title heroines in Saviero Mercandente's Virginia (1866), Errico Petrella's Giovanni di Napoli (1869), and Donizetti's Gabriella di Vergy in 1869. Autograph letter signed, embossed on first page, 3 pages of a 4 page folded document, written in Italian, sold untranslated, dated in 1867. Signed as "M. Lotti della Santa". Size of each page is 5.25 x 8.25 inches, unfolded item is 8.25 x 10.5 inches, in excellent condition. 

Italian baritone (1819-1891), who created roles in several world opera premieres, including Verdi's Il Giorno di Regno. Autograph letter signed, with additional writing by another hand at the top of the first page and throughout the second page, with Ferlotti's text and signature at the bottom of the first page. 2 pages, written on both sides of a 6 x 8.5 inch document, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Some rust at the bottom of the document but in generally good condition. 

Italian soprano (1805-1853), document signed by her in 1827, and by another hand below her signature. 1 page written in Italian, sold untranslated. Size is 7.25 x 11 inches, small bullet hole on top right and some rust throughout but otherwise in good condition.

Italian baritone (1818-1881). Autograph letter signed, one page, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Size is 5.25 x 8.25 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian tenor (1816-1887), who sung at the world premieres of Donizetti's Caterina Cornaro, and Verdi's Alzira, Il Corsaro, La Battaglia di Legnano, Stiffelio and Un Ballo in Maschera.   Autograph letter signed, dated in 1867, one page, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Size is 5.25 x 8 inches, a beautiful vintage item,  in excellent condition.

English soprano (1831-?). Autograph letter signed, 2 pages of a folded 4-page document, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Page size is 5.25 x 8.5 inches, small tear on final pages not including any text, otherwise in excellent condition.

Italian baritone (1828-1901), who sang Don Carlo di Vargas in the world premiere of Verdi's La Forza del Destino. Very rare autograph note signed, dated in 1870, in Italian, sold untranslated. Size is 4 x 5.25 inches, slight tear on top right, otherwise in excellent condition.

Italian soprano (1831-(1865 (?)). Autograph note signed, written in French, sold untranslated. Very rare historic item! Size is 5.25 x 8 inches, small smudge above text, otherwise in excellent condition.

Italian tenor (1853-1916). Autograph letter signed, dated in Rome in 1883, 1 page, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Size is 5 x 8 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian baritone (1855-1911), autograph letter signed, 2 pages written in Italian, sold untranslated. Clear handwriting and bold signature. Size of each page is 4.25 x 7 inches, in excellent condition. 

Austrian soprano (1842-1906), who starred in the World Premiere productions of Antonio Carlos Gomes's opera Fosca  and Camille Saint-Saens's Henry VII. Autograph letter signed, written in Trieste. Written in Italian, sold untranslated, attractively embossed. 3 pages of text on 2 folded pages, each page is 5.25 x 8 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian singing teacher (1811 or 1813-1892), autograph note signed, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Signed as "F co Lamperti". Also included: brief newspaper clipping in Italian announcing his death. Size of note is 5.25 x 8.25 inches, small ink smudge to left of signature, but not covering the text, otherwise in excellent condition.

Italian coloratura soprano (1827-1906), autograph note signed, 1 page, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Size is 5.25 x 8 inches, very small tear well above the text area, otherwise in excellent condition.

Italian bass (1853-1918), autograph letter signed, 3 pages written in Italian, sold untranslated. Attractively embossed on front page with attractive handwriting and signature. Size of each folded page is 4.5 x 7.25 inches, unfolded item is 7.25 x 9 inches, in excellent condition.

Russian tenor of Ukrainian origin (1810-1880), who sang in the opera houses of Italy, France, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, whose pseudonym in Italian was "Nicola Ivanoff". Autograph letter signed, dated in London in 1838. 2 pages of a folded 4-page document, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Clear and attractive handwriting and signature, signed as "N. Ivanoff". Size of each folded page is 4.25 x 7 inches, in excellent condition. 

Italian soprano (1811-1869), creator of the role of Adalgisa in Bellini's Norma, who also created roles in the world premiere performances of Bellini's I Puritani, as well as Donizetti's Don Pasquale and Marino Faliero. Autograph letter signed, on the letterhead of the Villa Salviati in Florence. Two pages written on both sides of a 5 x 8 inches, in Italian, sold untranslated. Some tape residue pink rust at very top, otherwise in very good condition.

Italian baritone (1819-1883) starred as the Count Di Luna in the world premiere performances of Verdi's Il Trovatore in 1853 and also created several other leading roles in operas by lesser-known Italian composers. Autograph letter signed, 3 pages of a folded 4-page document, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Size of each page is 5.25 x 8.25 inches, unfolded item is 8 x 10.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian tenor (1902-?), autograph letter signed, written on the letterhead of the Hotel Massimo d'Azeglio, Rome, dated in 1936.  Addressed to the management of La Scala, Milan, discusses his debut in the role of Maurizio in Cilea's Adriana Lecouvreur. 1 page written in Italian, sold untranslated. size is 8.75 x 11.5 inches, in excellent condition. 

French tenor (1876-?), signed album page, dated in Chicago in 1911 as a "souvenir of Pelleas", possibly following a performance of the title role of Debussy's Pelleas et Melisande. Size is 5.5 x 8.5 inches, jagged edges at bottom of page but otherwise in excellent condition. 

Italian baritone (1910-2002). Typed letter signed, addressed to the management of La Scala, Milan, on his personal letterhead, dated in 1964. 1 page written in Italian, sold untranslated. Printed signature under the typed text. Size is 7.5 x 11 inches, in excellent condition. 

Italian tenor (b. 1922), typed letter signed, on his personal letterhead, addressed to the management of La Scala, Milan, dated in Milan in 1963.  Printed signature underneath the typed text. 1 page, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Size is 7.75 x 11 inches, in excellent condition. 

Swiss bass (1916-1984) especially celebrated for his comic roles in the 1950s to the 1970s, widely recorded. Typed letter signed with his business letterhead, dated in Lugano in 1950, addressed to the director of La Scala, Milan. Contains printed signature underneath the typed text. 1 page, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Size is 8.25 x 11.75 inches, a rare item in excellent condition. 

Italian soprano (1896-1985), autograph letter signed on personal stationary, 1 unfolded page, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Size is 7 x 10.5 inches, in excellent condition. 

Italian bass (1893-1983), starred in the world premiere of Mascagni's Nerone. Autograph letter signed, written to the director of La Scala, Milan in 1933. Embossed with the letterhead of the Anglo-American Hotel, Florence. 2 pages, written in Italian, sold untranslated, each page is 6 x 8.25 inches, with small bullet holes at the top and middle of each page, otherwise in very good condition.

Italian mezzo-soprano (1846-1905), starred as Laura Adorno in the world premiere performances of Ponchielli's La Gioconda at La Scala, Milan in 1876. French mezzo-soprano (1855-1901). Autograph letter signed, 2 pages folded document written on both pages, written in Milan in Italian, sold untranslated. Size is 5.25 x 8 inches, in excellent condition.

Hungarian soprano (1832-1892). Autograph letter signed, 6 pages, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Each page is 4.5 x 7 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian dramatic soprano, active in the 1880s and 1890s who starred in the role of Nefta/Suor Clotilde in the world premiere performances of Alberto Franchetti's Asrael in 1888. Autograph letter signed, dated in Florence in 1876, 3 pages written in Italian, sold untranslated. Size of each page is 5.5 x 8.25 inches, unfolded total size is 8.25 x 10.75 inches, small tear on the top right of last pages, otherwise in excellent condition. 

Italian baritone and voice teacher (1822-1907), wrote books on singing and teaching. Signed cabinet photograph, shown as himself, signed on verso. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, with very small bullet holes on several corners of the cabinet not affecting image and signature. Otherwise in very good condition.

Italian bass (1901-1970). Autograph letter signed, addressed to the manager of La Scala, written in Bari, Italy, dated in 1953. 1 page, written in Italian, sold untranslated. Size is 9 x 11.25 inches, with small bullet holes on the left side of the document, otherwise in excellent condition. 

Spanish baritone (1805-1906), autograph note signed to Sir George Grove, 1 page, written in English, also sold with a typed English transcription. Original note is on the first page of a 4 page folded document, page size is 4.5 x 7 inches, in excellent condition. 

English singer and musician who also played flute and harpsichord (1743 or 1744-1818). Autograph letter signed, dated in Naples in 1772, 3 pages, written in French, sold untranslated. Each page is 7.5 x 9.25 inches, total unfolded item is 9.25 x 14 inches, small tear on the left side of back pages (not including any text), as well as tape residue, and small stains on front pages, otherwise in very good condition.
