Italian mezzo-soprano (1887-1965), one of Toscanini´s favorite singers. Black-and-white photo postcard mounted on cardboard signed by her simply as "Elvira", shown as Amneris in Aida. Total size is 3.2 x 5.5 inches, in very good condition.

Italian tenor (1865-1943) and one of the most important Italian tenors of his day, having premiered many title roles during his career, Fenton in Verdi's "Falstaff" among them. Fine black-and-white photograph mounted on cardboard signed and inscribed by him, shown as himself. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, blind-stamped on the front by photographer Adolfo Ermini (Milan), some silvering, otherwise in excellent condition.

Italian baritone (1889-1986), who had significant success at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. Black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment dated January 5, 1935, shown as Giancotto in Zandonai's "Francesca da Rimini". Total size is 8.9 x 13.9 inches, in very good condition.

Superstar Italian tenor (1890-1957). Italian soprano (1896-1973). Beautiful black-and-white photograph mounted on cardboard signed by both artists, dated February 18, 1937, shown as Andrea Chenier and Maddalena di Coigny in Giordano's opera at Teatro La Scala, Milan. Total size is 5.8 x 8.1 inches, in excellent condition.

Hungarian baritone (1901-1952) who died tragically during the stage rehearsal of Wagner's Der Fliegende Höllander at the Zurich Opera. Fine black-and-white photo postcard signed and inscribed by him in 1939, shown as Boris Godunov in Mussorgsky's opera. Size is 3 x 5 inches, some defects over the four corners, in overall very good condition.

Italian tenor (1890-1954) who made his debut in 1912. Beautiful half-tone photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment in Italian and a music quote, dated in Genoa, 1937, shown as Pollione in Bellini's opera "Norma"; photo from magazine Il Teatro Ilustrato. Size is 9 x 13.2 inches, missing upper corners, otherwise in very good condition.

Italian tenor (1902-1984) who studied under Mucci and made his debut as Cavaradossi in 1926. Fine black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment dated March 10, 1933; photo by Santacroce (Milan). Size is 4.5 x 6.8, in excellent condition.

Italian tenor (1919-1981) whose centers of his career were Rome, Naples, and Bologna. Gorgeous black-and-white promo photograph signed by him, shown as Otello in Rossini's opera at the Rome Opera. Size is 7 x 9.3 inches, in excellent condition.

American contralto (1927-2012), signed photograph, shown as herself, inscribed. Stamped on verso by photographer James Abresch, New York. Size is 8 x 10 inches, small crease on top right, otherwise in excellent condition.

French soprano (1907-1973), signed photograph, shown in role in Bizet's Pecheurs de Perles, inscribed. Stamped on verso by photographer Max Erlanger de Rosen, Paris. Size is 5 x 7 inches, mounting traces on verso, otherwise in excellent condition.

Spanish mezzo-soprano (1874-1954), signed postcard photograph, shown in Bizet's Carmen, dated in 1913. Bold handwriting and signature. Size is 3.5 x 5.25 inches, beautiful vintage item in excellent condition.

Norwegian soprano (1927-2006), known for dramatic soprano roles and German soprano (b.1937), both known for Wagnerian repertoire. Double signed photograph, shown in roles in Wagner's Lohengrin. Size is 5 x 7 inches, in excellent condition. 

Argentinian soprano whose birth name was Helena Arizmendi (1927–2015), performed frequently at the Teatro Colon as well as in Italy. Signed photograph, shown in role, inscribed and dated in 1955. Stamped on verso by photographer Annemarie Heinrch, Buenos Aires. Size is 4.75 x 7 inches, some bends, otherwise in very good condition. 

Italian American soprano (1909-2014) and Brazilian soprano (1902-1999), both major stars of the Metropolitan Opera during the mid twentieth century, double signed photograph, shown as themselves. Clear and bold handwriting and signatures. Size is 8 x 8 inches, beautiful color photo in excellent condition. 

German dramatic soprano (1880-1975). Signed photograph, shown as Brunhilde in Wagner's "Der Ring des Nibelungen",  inscribed in New York, dated in 1923.  Printed signature of photographer on front. Size is 8 x 10 inches, some rust above the photo not affecting image and signature, otherwise in excellent condition. 

French mezzo-soprano (1838-1892), admired by George Bernard Shaw, who wrote a lot about her in his reviews, for her interpretations and English diction, rare for a non-native. Autograph letter in Italian (untranslated) signed by her, dated in Contrexéville, July 20, addressed to Mr. Tartaglini about personal and professional matters. Size is 4.3 x 6.8 inches, 1 page, rust stains, folds, in overall very good condition.

Italian tenor (1853-1916) from Rome who enjoyed an important international career, and sang the title role of Verdi's Otello in its American premiere in New York, in 1888. Autograph letter in Italian (untranslated) signed by him, dated August 26, 1883, who, while in Saint Petersburg (Russia), writes to his friend Giunti for some business affairs. Size is 4 x 6 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet (front and back), some ink marking over the top, in overall very good condition.

American soprano (1870-?).Fine sepia photograph signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment in Italian dated 1902, shown in role. Photo by The Grouzelle Studios Ltd (Sydney). Size is 6.7 x 9.5 inches, stains, overall age-tone, in very good condition.

American tenor (1840-1910). Autograph letter in German (untranslated) signed by him, dated October 29, 1880, addressed to Mr. May, saying "I am very happy to take over the tenor part of the Glocke since this part was written especially for me by Mr. Max Bruch, and I had the honor of being the first tenor to sing the role in Gürzenich Saale in Cologne on May 12th, two years ago...”. Size is 5.2 x 8 inches, 1 written page, in very good condition.

Italian soprano (1817-1877). Fine personal card with few autograph lines by her dated in Padua, March 18, 1881. Size is 3.9 x 2.3 inches, in excellent condition.

French baritone (1762-1823). Autograph document in French (untranslated) signed by him, dated July 24, 1816, asking the Superintendent of Liége for a leave for medical reasons.  Size is 7.9 x 9.5 inches, creases, folds, written notations by third hands, in overall very good condition.

French tenor (1876-1950), who started his career well into his 30s and developed a very successful international career thanks to his beautiful voice and impressive stage appearance. Fine black-and-white photograph on Pathé Records card signed by him, dated 1931. Size is 3.5 x 5.4 inches, evident creases, and few other defect (see scan provided), in very good condition.

Italian soprano (1860-1924). Autograph letter in Italian (untranslated) signed by her, dated in Madrid, 1889, addressed to Eugenio Tornaghi, thanking him for forwarding the score of an opera.  Size is 4.3 x 6.7 inches, 2 written pages, folds, some rust stains, in very good condition.

Autograph letter in Italian (untranslated) signed by her, no year indicated, addressed to Franco Fano where she recommends her daughter and informs about her success at the Budapest opera to keep her in mind for future engagements. Size is 5 x 7.9 inches, 4 written pages, folds, in very good condition.

Prominent Italian tenor and singing teacher, usually known only as "Marco Bordogni" (1789-1856), who performed in several operas by Rossini. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, no year indicated, addressed to the director of the Theatre de la Renaissance Anténor Joly (1799-1852) about professional matters.  Size is 5.1 x 8 inches, 1 page, creases, folds, some smudges over ink, in overall good condition.

  Italian singer (1848-?), daughter of the actor Cesare, she is remembered for her performance in Diana di Chaverny by Carlo d'Ormeville. Autograph letter in Italian (untranslated) signed by her, dated in Bologna, May 30, 1877, addressed to the dancer Amina Boschetti (1836-1881) sharing her plans to debut in an important theater such as San Carlo in Naples. Size is 3.8 x 6.1 inches, 3 written pages, folds, in very good condition.

French singer (1767-1834), actress, composer, and daughter of composer Pierre-Joseph Candeille. Autograph note in French (untranslated) signed by her, where she writes a message to a gentleman, postponing an appointment due to illness. Size is 4.9 x 7.9 inches, 1 written page, some restorations on verso, in overall good condition.

Italian mezzo-soprano (1835-1901), for many years considered the best Favorita in Donizetti's opera. Set of two autograph letters: one of them dated in Torino, 1877, where she mentions an encounter with her fans, and another dated in Bologna, 1872, about some logistic recommendations to her stay. Both letters are 3 written pages long, different sizes, folds, creases, in very good condition. SOLD TOGETHER, NOT SOLD SEPARATED.

French bass (1780-1856), who sang in the world premieres of Spontini’s "La Vestale" and Rossini’s "Le Siège de Corinthe". Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, dated in Paris, May 17, 1813, addressed to the composer Henri-Montan Berton (1767-1844), concerning an embarrassing financial situation due to the lack of possibilities of recent performances. Size is 7.1 x 8.9 inches, 2 written pages in one folded sheet, folds, overall rust, in very good condition.

Italian tenor (1832-1889) who sang leading roles throughout Europe. Autograph letter in Italian (untranslated) signed by him, dated in Naples, 1878 addressed to Mr. Eustachio in Naples, concerning the 1878 performance of the opera Cleopatra at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, commenting also on other performances. Size is 5.2 x 8.1 inches, 4 written pages, folds, creases, in very good condition.

Autograph letter in Italian (untranslated) signed by him, dated 1871, addressed to the impresario Innocenzo Canedi commenting about engagements to perform in Naples and Cairo.  Size is 5.1 x 8.1 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet (front and verso), folds, overall rust, in very good condition.

Italian tenor ((1871-1950), creator of the role of Andrea Chenier in Giordano's opera. Autograph letter in Italian (untranslated) signed by him, dated in Bologna, 1913, asking for a place in the Loreto chapel choir at the Basilica della Santa Casa for his brother. Size is 4.4 x 6.8 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet (front and verso), folds, creases, in very good condition.

Italian tenor (1876-1929), who became famous throughout Europe during the first decade of the 20th century for his stylish performances of lyric roles. Set of two autograph letters in Italian (untranslated) signed by him, dated both in 1902. Both of them addressed to the impresario Franco Fano about his performance in Giordano's "Fedora"; the other about the recovery of his wife's illness and other professional matters. Sizes are 4.9 x 7.8 inches and 4.3 x 7 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet each, folds, creases, in very good condition.

Italian soprano (1872-1922). Page signed by her with few lines about a menu, and also signed by other non-identified signers for a lunch hosted at the home of the composer Adriano Lualdi (1885-1971). Size is 9.3 x 12.5 inches, 1 page, irregularly cut borders, overall rust, in good condition.

French soprano (1855-1941). Autograph letter in Italian (untranslated) signed by her, dated in Bologna, May 26, 1890, sent to the impresario Carlo Canedi forwarding some articles about one of her recent performances where she had success.  Size is 4.3 x 7 inches, 3 written pages in one folded sheet, creases, folds, in overall very good condition.

French soprano (1853-1911), also known as Blanche Dieudonne. Long autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by her where she describes her last night debut. Size is 4.1 x 6.5 inches each page, 8 written pages in two folded sheets, folds, creases, in overall very good condition.

Very long autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by her, no date mentioned, by the French soprano where she shares her thoughts on the role of Violetta Valéry in La Traviata and the problems she had performing it. On the first 3 pages on the first sheet, there is an autograph letter signed by Valérie Dieudonné to a gentleman, concerning her sister, who will soon start to sing again. Size is 4.3 x 7 inches, 5 written pages in total, folds, in overall very good condition.

Italian tenor (1881-1955), acclaimed as a star singer at Teatro La Scala. Set of two personal cards with few lines written by him. Size is 3.8 x 2.3 inches, in overall very good condition.  

Italian soprano (1827-1898). Set of two autograph letters in Italian (untranslated) signed by her, one of them dated in Genoa 1855 to the impresario Guffanti discussing fees; and the other dated in Florence, 1871, addressed to Tartaglione, commenting about the operas she would love to sing in future engagements. Both letters are 3 written pages long, different sizes, some loss of paper, rust stains, in overall good condition (see scans provided for details). Fine autograph letter in Italian (untranslated) signed by him, dated in Venice, 1872, where he mentions his upcoming professional plans, requesting also to his addressee the possibility of a song to be dedicated to him.  Size is 5.1 x 8.1 inches, 2 written pages, folds, in overall very good condition.

Fine and long autograph letter in Italian (untranslated) signed by him, dated in London, 1870, addressed to a colleague excusing himself for not being able to be part of a concert due to family concerns in Rome, and other personal issues (plus two extra letters addressed to close friends at the end).  Size is 5.2 x 8.1 inches, 4 written pages, folds, creases, evident wear, in overall very good condition.

Autograph letter in Italian (untranslated) signed by him, dated in Florence, 1875, addressed to the impresario Ardavani about some real state contracts in Lisbon (Portugal). Size is 5.2 x 8.3 inches, 1 written page, folds, in overall very good condition. Finnish soprano (1876-1944); who was considered the most renowned Finnish female singer at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by her, dated February 20, 1908, where she shares her plans of getting a contract since Giulio Gatti-Casazza will take over the Metropolitan management soon and other professional plans. Size is 5.6 x 7 inches, central fold, in excellent condition.
