Famous American ballroom dancer (1893-1969), wife of Vernon Castle with whom she formed the popular dancing duo which rose to fame in Irving Berlin's first Broadway show "Watch Your Step" (1914). Beautiful sepia photograph signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment dated 1932. Size is 8 x 10 inches, in excellent condition.

Cuban political leader (1926-2016), a communist revolutionary who ruled the country for nearly 40 years and a world political figure, his brother Raul Castro Ruz (b.1931) is, since 2011, the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba. Certificate or diploma given as "Individual Emulation", to the best worker of the Cuban Workers Central in the category of auxiliary, 1978. Boldly signed at the bottom by both Castro brothers. Size is 8 x 10 inches, minor damage over the lower right corner and a couple of ink stains, otherwise in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a funny photograph of Fidel Castro holding a newspaper and a cigar, a modern copy/print, sized 7 x 9 inches, in excellent condition.

Argentine composer (1895-1968) and conductor, who enjoyed a successful international career.  Nice card with his portrait and two bars of music from a chorus of his opera "Proserpina y el Extranjero" (1951), signed and dated by him in Buenos Aires, 1953.  Size is 4.5 x 2.75 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian soprano (1780-1849), one of the greatest singers of all times, with a voice covering nearly 3 octaves in range. Original playbill for a performance of "The Messiah", oratorio by Handel, at New Theatre Royal in Covent Garden, London in 1811. Framed together with an engraving showing Catalani at a young age, both items in excellent condition. Total frame size is 16.5 x 13.5 inches, concert playbill is 6 x 8.25 inches (viewable size) and engraving is 4 x 6 inches (viewable size in frame). Catalani playbills are a rarity!
