Original engraving, a satire caricature by Charles Williams, Walker & Knight, 1811. Caricature on the rebuilding of Drury Lane theater, with laborers clearing away bricks and debris from foundations of the old theater. In the foreground, we see the chairman of the committee pushing a wheelbarrow, making comments, responded by one of the proprietors. Trimmed to plate marks, original hand coloring, matted and ready to be framed to a total size of 16.4 x 12.75 inches, print is 12.8 x 9.2 inches (visible window size), in very good condition.

American contralto (1874-1962), and the daughter of Samuel Clemens, who wrote as Mark Twain, she managed his estate and guarded his legacy after his death as his only surviving child. Her first marriage was to the Russian Pianist Ossip Gabrilowitsch.  Signed album page with a quote from her father, dated in 1931. Size is 4 x 6.75 inches, in very good condition.

American writer (1835-1910) whose real name was Samuel Clemens, humorist, publisher and author of the celebrated novel "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" (1876) and its sequel "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" (1885). Rare first edition, first issue, first state, of his book "Roughing It", fully illustrated, American Publishing Company, 1872. Original cloth, in a blue protecting case of half morocco (case not shown). Some wear on spine and edges, otherwise in very fine condition.  Included is a typed note explaining why this is a first edition, first issue and state. An extra photograph mentioned in the note is not part of the book and is not included. A total of 592 numbered pages, approx. 6 x 9 inches.

His novels include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.  Fantastic cabinet photo double signed on front and verso (each time as both Samuel Clemens and his pen name Mark Twain, totaling 4 signatures!), shown young, with a short sentiment on front ("Yours Truly") as well as on verso ("With great pleasure"), a photo by Brady´s National Photographic Portrait galleries, New York - Washington.
