Dated March 1, [1900], to the art critic Henry Lapauze (1867-1925): “...Oserai-je, profitant de l’occasion de vous écrire, recourir à votre sympathie au sujet de ma nouvelle le Gardien, qui attend depuis plus d’ un an au Gaulois?...”.
