Recently Added Authentic Autographs and Memorabilia

Turkish-born Italian bass (1920-1991), sang frequently at La Scala and other European houses. Group of 3 autograph letters signed, each 2 pages in English, dated in Rome in 1965. Size of each is 7 x 10.75  inches, very small paper loss on edges of the paper not affecting text or signature, otherwise in very good condition. Not sold separately. 

German contralto (1892-1969) remembered for her performances of Wagner and Strauss heroines.  Group of 4 autograph letters signed, two are written in English, the other two in German (sold untranslated), ranging from one to three pages in length. Dates are between 1953 and 1958. Sizes range from 5.75 x 7.5 inches to 8.25 x 12 inches, each have small folds, some have creases but are otherwise in good condition. Not sold separately.  

Italian baritone (1819-1881), especially known for his Verdi roles, appeared in the world premiere productions of that composer's I Due Foscari, Il Corsaro, Luisa Miller, and La Forza del Destino. Signed album page, dated in 1855, bold handwriting and signature. Size is 9.25 x 12.5 inches. Very rare vintage item in excellent condition!

Scottish bass (1922-1983), especially known for his Wagnerian interpretations. 1 autograph letter signed by his wife Susan Ward written on his behalf, 2 pages, dated in London in 1965, size is 6 x  8 inches, in excellent condition. Also included: handwritten three page essay by him discussing Wagner's opera The Flying Dutchman ( a role with which he was particularly associated), also dated in 1965, 8 x 10 inches, in excellent condition. Not sold separately. 

Austrian-German contralto (1839-1899), celebrated both in the opera and concert repertoire, frequently performing with both Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms, and wife of the famous violinist Joseph Joachim.  Lot of 1 Autograph music quote signed, written on a 3 x 5 inch card, dated in New York in 1894, along with 4 unsigned concert programs/playbills from the Berlin Philharmonie, also in1894 ranging in size from 5. 5 x 8.5 inches to 6.75 x 9 inches, slight rust and a few stains, otherwise in good condition. Not sold separately. 

Italian composer (1868-1944), autograph music quote signed, inscribed and dated in London in 1934. Bold handwriting and signature. Size is 4.25 x 6.5 inches, small folds and mounting traces on verso, otherwise in excellent condition.

Canadian soprano (1882-1970), starred in the world premiere production of L'Oracolo by Franco Leoni. Autograph musical quote signed with a bar of music from Gounod's Faust, size is 3.5 x 4.5 inches, in excellent condition. 

Italian composer (1904-2003) of modern classical music, conductor, and teacher; considered one of the most influential Italian composers of the twentieth century. Autograph music quote, inscribed, with a bar of notes from his guitar piece "Nunc", dated in Rome in 1980. Size is 6 x 9.5 inches, some creases and bends, otherwise in good condition.

English baritone, autographed musical quote written on a 4.5 x 7 inch sheet with several bars from the "Taming of the Shrew", signed by him in London, dated in 1884, small creases and bends, otherwise in excellent condition. Rare vintage item!

Set of 2 signed album pages one from the Belgian baritone Camille Everardi (1824-1899), dated in 1858, the other signed by his wife Georgette, a Belgian soprano (1831-1887) signed in St. Petersburg, also in 1858. Each page is 9.25 x 13 inches in size with very small tears at both the top and some sides of the page but not affecting the text and signature. Rare vintage items not sold separately!

English coloratura soprano (1900-1990), autograph note signed, 1 page in English, dated in 1930. Bold handwriting and signature. Size is 7 x 9 inches, several creases and folds, otherwise in very good condition.

Belgian Soprano (1883-?) associated with the Paris Opera Comique, autograph letter signed, 2 pages, written in French, sold untranslated. Size of each page is 5.25 x 7 inches, some creases and folds, otherwise in good condition. 

Italian bass (1894-1971), autograph note signed, 1 page, written in Italian, sold untranslated, dated in 1931. Size is 5.25 x 6.75 inches, small creases and folds and some mounting traces on verso, otherwise in very good condition. 

Irish bass-baritone and film actor (1873-1953), known for opera, oratorio, and musical theatre, principally associated with the role of Captain Macheath in the ballad opera The Beggar's Opera, which he sang close to 1,500 times. Autograph letter signed, 1 page in English, size is 4.5 x 6.75 inches, in excellent condition.  

German mezzo (1873 -1949), autograph letter signed, 1 page, written in English, dated in London in 1898. Size is 4.5 x 7 inches, small stains on the document as a small crease on bottom left, otherwise in good condition.

French tenor and actor (1878-1954), whose career was mostly associated with the French repertoire. Autograph letter signed written on stationary of the Congress Hotel in Chicago, dated in 1913. 2 pages on a folded 4-page document, written in French, sold untranslated. Size of each page is 5.25 x 6.5 inches, small creases and folds, otherwise in very good condition. 

Belgian bass-baritone (1870-1951), signed postcard, which also contains a photographic image of him in role (likely Jochanan in Richard Strauss's Salome), dated in Chicago in 1910. Bold handwriting and signature. Size is 3.25 x 5.5 inches, vintage item in excellent condition! 

Russian dancer (1890-?) also known as Ketty de Galantha, member of the Ballets Russes and also had a career as an actress; moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1922. Set of two signed photographs: the first one is a photograph matted on a photographer mat signed and inscribed by her, dated 1927; blind-stamped on the front by photographer Lutz Ferrando (Buenos Aires). Size is 8 x 12.5 inches, in excellent condition. The second photograph is a black-and-white photo postcard signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment on verso, dated 1926; blind-stamped on the front by photographer Bixio (Buenos Aires). Size is 3.3 x 5.25 inches, vertical crease, some silvering, in very good condition. SOLD TOGETHER, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.

Russian dancer whose career focused in Argentina during the first half of the 20th century. Nice sepia photo postcard signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment dated 1930, shown dancing; blind-stamped on the front by photographer Bixio (Buenos Aires). Size is 3.25 x 5.25 inches, silvering around borders, mounting traces on verso, in overall very good condition.

Danish ballet dancer (1915-2008), and also a choreographer and teacher. Nice dark sepia photograph signed by her with a short greeting dated 1940. Size is 7.6 x 9.75 inches, mounting traces on verso, in very good condition.

British-American ballet dancer (1914-2013), choreographer, and director. Fine sepia photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment, shown dancing. Size is 7.2 x 9.25 inches, mounting traces on verso, minor creases, in overall very good condition.

Croatian-born American ballerina (1916-2002), whose career developed mostly in the Metropolitan Opera Ballet and became one of the most influential artists of her time. Fine sepia studio photograph signed and inscribed by her with a short sentiment. Size is 7.7 x 10.1 inches, creases, in very good condition.

Russian ballet dancer and choreographer (1886-1963), considered one of the most innovative soloist dancers of the first decades of the 20th century. Fine sepia photograph signed by him mounted on soft cardboard, dated in Buenos Aires, 1941. Size is 6.9 x 4.6 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian conductor and teacher (1858-1943). Autograph letter signed by him, dated 1943, addressed to the editor of the magazine Opera News about business.  Size is 8.3 x 10.8 inches, two written pages in one sheet, folds, in very good condition.

German mezzo-soprano (1883-1961) associated with the singing of German lieder. Autograph letter in English signed by her, dated 1948, sent to a friend about personal matters. Size is 5.2 x 7 inches, 1 page, central fold, in excellent condition.

French tenor (1871-1939); German bass-baritone (1866-1938). An album page signed by both artists; Muhlmann added a 5-bar music quote with lyrics from Wagner's "Lohengrin" dated in London, June 1901; while Dalmores signed and inscribed in London (Covent Garden) in 1904. Size is 7.75 x 6.25 inches, minor rust stains, in overall very good condition.

Italian opera singer (1866-1923). Autograph letter in French (sold untranslated) signed by her. Size is 4.4 x 6.8 inches each page, 2 pages, central fold, light rust stains, in overall good condition.

American soprano (1856-1883), who died tragically at 27. An album page signed by her with a short sentiment. Size is 6.75 x 8 inches, in very good condition. Very rare!

American bass (1836-1910). An album page signed by him with a short sentiment in English wishing a happy new year, dated in Minneapolis, January 1st, 1885.  Size is 6.75 x 8 inches, in excellent condition.

German organist (1859-1928) and choir conductor; Italian soprano (1840-1889) and older sister to famed soprano Adelina Patti. An album page signed by both artists on the same date November 18, 1882. Munch signed over the bottom with a 3-bar music quote, while Patti signed over the top.  Size is 8 x 6.75 inches, in excellent condition.

German dramatic bass-baritone (1838-1914). 2-bar autograph music quote signed by him with a short text in German (apparently) written by him, dated 1898. Size is 9.25 x 6 inches, minor stains, in very good condition.

A beautiful collection of 27 album pages signed by different opera singers including Ada Adini, Antonio Scotti, Camille Seygard, Clara Butt, Kennerly Rumford, Ella Russell, Emma Cranch, Erik Schmedes, Fernando Previtali, Gerald Moore, Frieda Hempel, Fritz Feinhals, Gottlob Pistor, Johan Schmeid, Josef Orelia, Leo Slezak, Louise Homer, Luigi Homer, Luigi Ravelli, Mathilde Bauermeister, Mignon Nevada, Peter Dawson, Sigrid Arnoldson, Constant Coquelin, and others. Irish poet (1854-1900) and playwright, who became one of the most famous playwrights in London in the early 1890s; best remembered for his plays and his novel "The Picture of Dorian Gray". Fantastic extra large cabinet photograph of him by photographer Sarony (New York) signed and inscribed with a short sentiment by Wilde himself to the American actress Clara Morris during his visit to New York in January 1882 where he met her. Size is 7.2 x 12.75 inches, full crack professionally repaired at the center, re-mounted on new cardboard, some signs of mounting damage on verso, otherwise in overall good condition. Large photographs of Oscar Wilde are very rare and highly desirable!

Season program for the Grand Ballet du Marquis de Cuevas company listing all the ballet performances for the 1951 season, including pictures of some of the performers.  Size is 8.3 x 10.6 inches, central fold, otherwise in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED are two playbills for performances at the Theatre de L'Empire, Paris, May 1951 (one of them with lipstick markings). Size is 6.1 x 9.6 inches each, in excellent condition.

American playwright (1832-1890) and publisher located in Boston. Small patriotic written play "The Amateur Drama One Hundred Years Ago" in two acts by Baker. Size is 4.75 x 7.5 inches, first edition, 1876, loose covers, inside in very good condition.

Russian composer (1864-1956) and pianist. Page from a program for a performance of him as a pianist in Long Beach (California) on March 6, 1931, performing many of his own works, signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment over the top-left corner.  Page is 5.5 x 8.5 inches, central fold, in excellent condition.

Legendary German Wagnerian soprano (1872-1932), signed album page, dated in New York in 1907. Bold handwriting and signature. This is a 7.25 x 8.5 inch album page which also contains a small (1.75 x 3 inch) half tone photo of her as Brunnhilde in Wagner's Ring, her most celebrated role. In excellent condition.

French-Italian soprano, whose stage name was Antonia Delores, was the daughter of singer Zelia Trebelli-Bettini a French mezzo-soprano (1834-1892), and Alessandro Bettini, an Italian tenor (1825-1898), and the first to sing Carmen at the Metropolitan Opera in 1884. Autograph note signed, 1 page, written in English. Size  is 4.5 x 7 inches, some mounting traces (scotch tape) on left side of the paper, otherwise in excellent condition.

Star American mezzo-soprano (1913-2013) and English dancer (1910-2004), full program for a performance of Gluck's Orfeo et Euridice presented by the Metropolitan Opera, New York in 1955, signed by Stevens in 1955, and in 1956 by Markova with both artists's signatures on the cover page. Full program, containing all pages and covers, size of each page is 6.5 x 9 inches, in excellent condition. 

Star American baritone (1911-1960) and Italian soprano (1909-2014), full program for a performance of Verdi's La Traviata presented by the Metropolitan Opera on tour at the Boston Opera House in 1954, signed by both artists on the cover page. Full program, containing all pages and covers, size of each page is 6.25 x 9.75 inches, in excellent condition. 

Star American baritone (1911-1960) and French-American coloratura soprano (1898-1976), clip from a program (cast page) for a performance of Verdi's Rigoletto at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, dated 1956, signed by both artists. Size is 8 x 11 inches, small rips and tears on far edges not affecting program listing or signatures, otherwise in excellent condition. 

American tenor (1903-1983), who had a long career, including 25 seasons at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Autograph letter signed, 2 pages written on the stationary of the Hotel Hamilton, New York. Size is 5.5 x 8.5 inches, in excellent condition. 

American tenor and voice teacher (b. 1936), signed publicity photograph, shown as himself, inscribed and dated in 1998. Photo by Peter Schaaf. Size is 8 x 10 inches, small paper loss on bottom left, otherwise in excellent condition.

Czech soprano and actress (1907-1994), star of the Metropolitan Opera for many years. Group of three signed letters, 1 page each, written in English. One is handwritten on a 5.75 x 8.25 sheet, a second is typewritten on 5.75 x 8.25 paper in Vienna (both dated in 1965) while the third is handwritten on a 4 x 5.75 inch postcard, dated in 1969. Some small creases and bends on the second item, otherwise in excellent condition. Not sold separately.
