Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, dated June 13, 1978, where he addresses the Québécois organist and professor Jean Leduc (1933-2012): "...j'aurai téléphoné à M. Hadjadj (Polydor) au sujet de l'enregistrement du concerto de Tomasi....".  Size is 5.9 x 8.2 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet (front and back), central fold, creases, printed letterhead, in overall very good condition. Belgian baritone (1858-1922), who debuted at the Opéra de Lille in Lucia di Lammermoor and Hérodiade, and sung for the world premieres of Massenet's "La Terre Promise" (1902). Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, no date [probably 5-10-1901], where he addresses à gentleman, concerning a Stradivarius violin: "...venez chez moi (....), je vous montrereai un violon Stradivarius, très vieux et superbe de forme...".  Size is 5.3 x 8.5 inches, 1 written page, folds, some creases, printed letterhead, in very good condition.

French violinist (1806-1888), conductor, composer, and collector. Set of two autograph letters in French (untranslated) signed by him, as follows: A. Le 17 Mars 72. To a journalist: “…Je vous serai fort obligé de vouloir bien dans votre compte rendu du Bal donné hier au soir au Ministère de l’Intérieur, mentionner mon nom comme Chef d’orchestre…”.  B. Jeudi. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, no date [probably June 1927], where he addresses the writer and composer Marcel Diamant-Berger (1893-1990): “…On pourrait mettre en musique Azilal nous en parlerons si vous le voulez un peu plus tard : vous l’avez écris musicalement c’est très très bien…”.  Size is 8.4 x 11.7 inches, colored paper with watermark drawing, signs of folding, creases, printed letterhead, in overall very good condition.

Hungarian-born French conductor (1903-1989), often associated with Wagner repertoire. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, dated August 3, 1976, to the journalist Max Favalelli, complimenting him for his TV show “Des Chiffres et des Lettres”. Size is 8.4 x 11.3 inches, central fold, light creases, printed letterhead, in overall very good condition.

French composer and librettist (1886-1919). Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, dated in Paris, March 9, 1907, to the composer and music critic Henri Woollett (1864-1936), concerning a music competition: "...j'apprends que vous organisez pour le 11 et 12 août un grand concours musical et j'ai l'honneur de vous offrir ma participation à ce tournoi artistique en qualité de membre du jury...".  Size is 8.3 x 10.7 inches, 1 page, central fold, overall dust stains, some cracks over the left border, in overall good condition.

French dramatist (1814-1867) and poet. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, dated in Vienna, June 1, [1859], where he addresses a gentleman, thanking him for having sent a volume he recently translated and rejoices for the theater re-opening, hoping for new successes on the stage for the soprano Marie-Stéphanie Meyer (1828-1914).  Size is 5.3 x 8.3 inches, 3 written pages in one folded sheet, central fold, creases, overall age toning, in very good condition.

French cellist (1872-1937), and conductor. Page printed with his letterhead signed by him with a short sentiment and dated April 21, 1909. Size is 5.4 x 6.2 inches, restoration on the verso, in overall very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an autograph letter signed “E. Garès”  by a fellow musician: “…je suis obligé de passer mon après-midi de dimanche à travailler sérieusement mon concert de Monte Carlo, car je sui bien en retard et je commence déjà à me faire du mauvais sang….”. 1 p. C'est lui qui fait toutes les planches des journaux illustrés tels que la Vie Parisienne, Le journal amusant (...) Nos amis Monsieur et Madame J. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, dated April 21, 1867, to a gentleman, concerning a possible collaboration after his publication for the recent Exposition Universelle: “…En feuillettant votre publication illustrée « l’exposition universelle », l’idée me vient de vous écrire et de vous faire mes offres de services, dans le cas où vous auriez besoin de comptes-rendus touchant la musique à l’exposition. C’est surtout au moment de grands Festivals et des concerts historiques qu’il appartiendra à votre intéressante publication de ne pas délaisser un art vraiment universel…”. Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by her, dated in Paris, December 8, 1868, where she addresses the President of the Société des auteurs et compositeurs dramatiques (SACD), Henri de Saint-Georges (1799-1875): “…Désirant si c’est possible faire partie de la société des auteurs compositeurs et éditeurs de musique, je viens sous le patronage de Mrs. Bedieu et Alexis Bouvier [1836-1892, dramatist] vous en faire la demande, dans le cas ou la chose offrirait quelques difficultés je vous prierai de vouloir bien toucher en mon nom les droits pour la musique et l’édition (…) d’une chanson intitulé cuisinière et nourrice, que j’interprète chaque soir à l’Ambigu depuis le 28 novembre dernier…”.  Size is 5.4 x 8.2 inches, two written pages, in one sheet (front and back), folds, overall age toning, in very good condition. Russian-Italian soprano (1807-1864), voice teacher, daughter of the celebrated voice teacher Filippo Dall'Oca. Set of two autograph letters in Italian (untranslated) signed by her, as follows: A. Berlin le 23 Octobre 1842. To the Court theatre manager Karl Theodor von Küstner, asking for: “…deux billets de parquet et quatre billets au second rang des loges (…) Dans ce moment je viens de recevoir mon rôle dans Belisaire, et le plus-tôt possible je tacherai de le donner…”. 1 p. In-4. B. Fano li 22 Febbrajo 1850. To the impresario Alessandro Lanari: “…in questo momento ho riceguto la vostra lettera, e ne feci parte alla mia figlia la quale per verità rimase assai mortificata nel vedere che il Sig. Marzi dopo tante dimostrazioni, e conoscendo i suoi mezzi, le abbia potuto fare questa meschina offerta, e sopra più anche obbligandola di fare le opere buffe, le quali sono affatto fuori del suo genere, e ch’essa non azzarderebbe di cantarle altro che avendo di già piaciuto in una città dopo una o due opere del suo genere…”.  2 pp. In-8. In the premiere (03/10/1837) of the opera Il Giuramento by Saverio Mercadante she sang the role of Elaisa. In the same year she sang other roles at the Vienna Court Opera, including the title role in Gemma di Vergy by Gaetano Donizetti in the first performance on May 28, 1838.
