German-born conductor (1876-1962), pianist, and composer, who worked closely with Mahler, whose music he helped to establish in the repertory, and is widely considered to be one of the greatest conductors of the 20th century. Fine typed letter in German (sold untranslated) signed by him, about personal matters. Size is  7.25 x 10.75 inches, creases, folds, otherwise in very good condition.

French conductor and violinist (b.1964), his career focuses mostly in conducting opera, and his work has received many awards. Signed photo, 8 x 10 inches, in excellent condition.

French violinist (1893-1985), Gaden left some nice recordings in the 1920s and 1930s, and music for a film. Nice photo postcard, shown performing, size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Famous German tenor (1804-1860), a protegé of Spontini, Breiting sang at the most important theaters in Germany in his time, and in London, Prague and in France, eventually developing symptoms of a mental disease that ended his career and his life early.  Extraordinary, unique collection of 23 original, vintage playbills from the 1830s, 40s and 50s - all opera performances listing his name in the cast. Of the total of 23, most (16 of them) are 9 x 14 inches or so, 4 playbills are large, poster-like size (up to 18 x 24 inches) and 3 are smaller size (5 x 8 inches approx.). In good to very good condition, all have folds, some rust stains, minor losses, but overall very good, with the exception of the large Covent Garden playbill 1842 that is in poor condition. Many rare playbills, including a few very early performances of some operas, such as Tannhauser. Also included are 18 newspapers or magazines from the same time period, mentioning him. See scans. German conductor (1913-2006), was the principal conductor of the Bavarian State Opera and, later, the Vienna State Opera, with appearances as guest conductor with many important orchestras. Signed photo by Fayer, Vienna, 3.5 x 5.5 inches, stamped on verso by photographer. Signature is a bit faint but clearly visible.

English pianist, teacher and composer (1858-1945), Matthay opened his own piano school and published and important book on piano pedagogy. Signed postcard, dated by him on August 10th (stamp by the post office on verso states 1927), size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches

Swiss conductor (1924-2006) whose career focused mostly on opera. Signed photo, shown conducting, dated in Vienna in 1966, size is 7 x 5 inches.

Fine photograph mounted on a mat shown in role at Magdeburg, signed and inscribed by him, dated in 1929.  Total size is 8 x 10.5 inches, actual photograph is 3.25 x 5.25 inches, some water damage on the mat (not affecting any handwritten text), minor damage over the center-right, otherwise in fine condition.

French pianist, composer and teacher (1852-1914), the first famous pianist to make recordings. Pugno was well known for his interpretations of Mozart works. Autograph letter signed by him, dated in 1901, in French, sold untranslated. Two pages, each written only on one side with signature on the second page. Pages are sized 5.25 x 7 inches, have folds, in excellent condition. Also included are: 1) a vintage photo, 4 x 6 inches, inscribed, with a signature at the bottom. Signature is partially cut, photo is mounted on a larger piece of paper, size is 4.6 x 7.25 inches, excellent condition, 2) an unsigned photo postcard of him, 3.5 x 5.25 inches, in excellent condition.
