Swiss businessman and violin collector (1810-?). Autograph letter in Italian signed by him, dated October 23, 1876, to violinist Emanuele Rovelli (1836-1912), son of the composer Pietro (1793-1838), sending back a violin and a guitar, which he bought from him. Size is 8.3 x 10.4 inches, 1 page, folds, signs of pressure, missing paper at the bottom, in overall fair condition.

American music critic (1874-1935) at The New York Press and foreign music correspondent for The New York Herald Tribune. Autograph letter in English signed by him and dated December 4, 1924, to maestro Arturo Toscanini: “…We are glad, though, that our good Ugo Ara [1876-1936, musician] can be the bearer of our messages (…) The announcement that you would probably be here to conduct the Philharmonic as “guest” in some concerts set the musical world at…”.  Right after, there is a short text of greetings from Mary Hardy, wife to Max Smith. Size is 5.3 x 6.7 inches each page, 4 written pages in one folded sheet, with letterhead of Hotel Astor New York, folds, in very good condition.

French dancer (1875-1943) at the Paris Opéra at the age of 18, portrayed many times by painter Edgar Degas. Nice cabinet photograph of her from 1893 by photographer L{eon Pillaut/Benque & Co (Paris). Size is 4.2 x 6.2 inches, ink markings over the bottom, in excellent condition.

German conductor (1815-1873) and composer. Autograph letter in German signed twice by him, no date, to a gentleman about music matters. Size is 5.2 x 8.4 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet (front and back), smudges over ink, rust stains, folds, creases, and wrinkles, in good condition. In 1854 in the town of Krefeld, he set to words the 1840 poem “Die Wacht am Rhein” by Max Schneckenburger. In recognition of the success and the national importance of this song, he received the title of “Royal Prussian Musical Director” in 1860. 

Bohemian-born Austrian composer (1850-1905) famous for his dances and marches. Fine cabinet photograph of the composer by photographer Charles Scolik (Vienna) signed with a short sentiment and dated by Komzak in Baden, September 1901. Size is 4.2 x 6.2 inches, overall dust and rust stains, otherwise in very good condition.

German impresario (1830-1900). Autograph note on a postcard with the image of Pietro Mascagni and his son Mimí (Domenico) signed by the impresario, dated in Berlin, December 15, 1899, who organized the Teatro La Scala Orchestra tournée in 1899.  Size is 5.7 x 3.7 inches, in excellent condition.

I cannot have the pleasure of having you today; I have come to ask you, when you wish to do me the pleasure of coming with Mademoiselle your daughter to my house..." Size is 4.9 x 7.6 inches, overall rust stain, in very good condition.

German composer (1823-1905) and writer. Autograph letter in German signed by him, dated December 23, 1883, to a music director, concerning upcoming business:  "... I would have another year like that and that is Italy and Germany, which is as for me even more binding and obligatory must hold more moderately besides, my financial circumstances are due to a limited nature...". Size is 8.3 x 10.3 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet (front and back), creases, wrinks, folds, small crack over the top, in overall very good condition.

Fine cabinet photograph of her mounted on a mat by Walery (Paris) and signed by the soprano with a short text on the back. Total size is 6.2 x 8.3 inches, spotted rust on the front, in very good condition.

German composer (1840-1916) and music teacher, also a founder of Nature protection movement. Autograph letter in German signed by him, dated in Berlin, 1896, to the Italian composer Giovanni Tebaldini:  Partial translation: “…Today I come to you with a request. Yesterday, in the Senate of the Academy - of which I am a member - a letter addressed to the Prussian Ministry of Culture from Professor Angelo Balladoni in Lodi was presented, who is entitled to work on Italian music, which he intends to write, from the Minister - i.e. he is requesting the Academy to answer a number of questions. Before doing anything else, I would like to ask you, on behalf of my college, if you know the identity of Mr. Balladoni, if he is an important Scholar, if he is supported by the Italian Government, if he is personally reliable. Hopefully, you can give us some information! (…) Have you received the Gloria from Lotti? The Copist of the college has already copied it to you one summer, and to your credit, since you asked me to have it copied to you on account of the Church of San Antonio…”.  Size is 5.5 x 8.6 inches each page, 4 written pages, folds, creases, in overall very good condition.

French opera impresario, who was also the director of some important theaters such as the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels and the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin in Paris. Beautiful cabinet photograph signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment on verso dated 1903; photograph by H. Rentz & F. Schrader (St. Petersburg). Russian classical violinist, violist, and conductor (1908-1974), considered one of the most famous string performers of the Soviet Era and one of the preeminent violinists of the 20th century. Set of 2 nice black-and-white photographs, here shown in rehearsal as conductor. Size is 4.75 x 7 and 7 x 4.75 inches, in excellent condition. SOLD TOGETHER, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.

German composer (1798-1859) and chapel master. Autograph letter in Italian signed by him, dated in Dresden, May 17, 1845, to baron Wilhelm von Taubenheim (1805-1894), concerning his opera Yelva (1828): "... On the last occasion of your presence in Dresden, when I had the honor of being introduced to you, I took the liberty of reminding you of the promise of 10 ducats made to me by your predecessor, Mr. Leutrum, for my music of the "Yelva". (...) I have already written to Mr. Reggetore [Heinrich] Moritz and to the Kapellmeister [Peter Josef von] Lindpaintner that I have no connection with Castelli, and that I am not willing to make a check on him..." Austrian dancer (1859-1937), debutant at the Vienna Hofoper in 1878, wife to the writer and art collector Andreas Dillinger (1849-1919). Beautiful cabinet photo of her by Atelier Adèle (Vienna). Size is 4.3 x 6.8 inches, evident wear and creases over the borders, ink writing on the front and back, dirt stains over the borders, in very good condition.

Danish composer (1859-1939), known mainly for his operas, being "The Witch" his first major success. Rare unsigned carte-de-visite (CDV) photograph of him by Sophus Juncker-Jensen (Copenhagen). Size is 4.1 x 6.4 inches, in very good condition.
