German soprano (1854-1943). Vintage carte-de-visite (CDV) photograph of the soprano by photographer J.C. Schaarwächter (Berlin). Size is 2.5 x 3.9 inches (trimmed from a slightly larger format), in very good condition.

Program for a performance of works by Berlioz, Liszt, Brahms, and Heger by the celebrated German conductor and composer on April 3, 1933, in Klagenfurt, signed with a short sentiment by him in pencil in German: "In memory of my first concert in Klagenfurt". Size is 7.8 x 9.7 inches, 1 page, in excellent condition.

American opera composer (1859-1920). Autograph note on cardboard signed by him to the Ladies Home Journal editor Edward Bok: «...I find I shall be so busy with rehearsals this week that I shall not be able to get away for lunch...In regards to the song the same terms as for the Waltz will be satisfactory...».  Size is 5.1 x 3.2 inches, written on front and verso, letterhead of Hotel Bellevue (Philadelphia), overall rust tone, in very good condition.

Czech conductor and composer (1914-1996), son of the famous violinist Jan Kubelik; who has been music director top-level orchestras in Europe and North America.  Nice black-and-white photograph of the conductor shown in performance by photographer Werner Neumeister (Munich). Size is 7 x 9 inches approx., in very good condition.

French composer (1898-1962), critic, composer of operas, ballets, orchestral works, and film scores. Autograph document by wich the French composer provides information on his activity and music works for an article to be written about him. The composer mentions his works ‘Rigaudon’, ‘Clef des Songes’, ‘Bourrée’, ’L’éventail de Jeanne’, ‘Poirier de Misère’, ‘Quatre Regrets de Joachim du Bellay’. Among the notes, draft corrections and rewritings Delannoy inscribes a few musical bars. Size is 5.3 x 8.2 inches, four written pages, creases, smudges, corrections, in overall very good condition (see scans provided).

Greek composer (1925-1994). Typed letter in English signed by him, dated July 25, 1960, about copyrights to his employers. Size is 8.4 x 10.8 inches, 1 page, storage holes over the top, folds and creases, in overall excellent condition.

French violinist (1860-1900), composer, and teacher, a pupil of Henri Vieuxtemps. Set of four short autograph notes signed by her. All the letters are dated in Paris, 1899, and related to artistic matters concerning the work of his brother Benjamin Godard (1849-1895). Different lengths, sizes and conditions, in overall very good condition (see scans provided). SOLD TOGETHER, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.

French painter (1769-1819). Set of two autograph letters in French to the soprano Caroline Branchu (1780-1850): "... I've just come back from the stagecoaches, I don't know yet exactly what day we won't be able to get seats for these happy 6-wheeled carriages...", and "... I cannot express to you how much my heart bled to leave you, after having remained for a few days in your intimacy and having been showered with all kindness, attention and friendship for you...".  Both letters are 5 x 7.8 inches in size, 1 written page each, some creases and folds, in overall good condition (see scans provided). Polish-American composer and pianist (1876-1957). An album page signed by him and dated 1921. Size is 4.9 x 6.1 inches, in excellent condition. 

American actor (b.1947) and also voice actor and director, best known for playing Freddy Krueger in the film series "A Nightmare on Elm Street". Gorgeous color photograph signed by him with a short sentiment, shown as Freddy Krueger in "Nightmare on Elm Street".  Size is 7.9 x 10 inches, in excellent condition.

American actor (b.1936); active since 1963. Fine black-and-white half-tone photograph signed by him with a short sentiment with a silver felt tip pen. Size is 7.9 x 9.9 inches, in excellent condition.

Canadian-born American actress (1917-2012) in film, radio, and TV, with a long career starring and co-starring in films between 1935 and 1978. Fine black-and-white photograph signed by her, shown her as Careen in the film "Gone With The Wind" (1939). Size is 8 x 10 inches, in excellent condition.

Black-and-white photograph signed and inscribed by her much later in life (probably in the 1980s or 1990s), shown in the film "Washington Melodrama" (1941). Size is 8.1 x 10 inches, in excellent condition.

American violinist and teacher (1914-2010), co-founder of the Juilliard String Quartet. Fine black-and-white promo photograph signed by him. Size is 8 x 10.1 inches, in excellent condition.

Hungarian violinist (no dates available), a pupil of Jeno Hubay. 4-page brochure signed by her and dated 1927 on the front cover, with reviews from magazines and newspapers about her performances in Argentina and Serbia. Size is 5 x 8.4 inches, in very good condition.

American cellist (1944-2020), known for the "penetrating richness" of his sound; performed internationally as a recitalist, chamber musician, and soloist. Page from a program signed by him. Size is 7 x 9.4 inches, in excellent condition.

British violinist (b.1987) and a child prodigy; at the age of 10 she had played in major concert halls throughout Europe and North America. A beautiful black-and-white photograph from his younger years, signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment dated 1987 with a golden felt tip pen. Size is 7.9 x 9.9 inches, in excellent condition.

American composer (1908-1989). Typed letter in English signed by him, dated August 20th, 1964 to his fellow’s wife Olive: «...We missed you and Jan at Scandia after last Saturday’s concert. It was truly a delightful and happy little gathering, and it would have been even more so could you have been there...». Size is 8.3 x 10.8 inches, 1 page, two horizontal folds, with letterhead, in overall excellent condition.

American composer (1908-1989). A fine collection of eight letters signed: seven typed letters, 1 handwritten by him, about personal and professional matters between 1961 and 1983.  Different sizes, lengths, and content, in very good condition or better. SOLD ONLY AS A LOT, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.

German composer (1728-1804), conductor, and writer. Fine vintage lithograph portrait of the composer by F. Zimmermann. Size is 7 x 11 inches approx., in very good condition.

Music publisher (1815-1883) and founder of Heugel Publishing House. Set of three autograph letters in French signed by him, as follows: A. Paris, March 29, 1846, to the composer Edmond Audran (1842-1901), saying he has included in the program the violinist "Herman": "... who gives a delightful concert to which we will have many friends..."; he then lists a few compositions he will bring to him on their next meeting.  B. Paris, April 1, 1872” to Eugène Guinot (1805-1861), journalist and writer, asking him if he could write back to Madame Sabatier (Apollonie Sabatier, 1822-1890) with information.  C. Paris, March 8, 1862, to Milanese Music Publisher Francesco Lucca (1802-1872) about the “Pensées musicales” (op. 75, 1862) by Sigismund Thalberg (1812-1871). Different sizes, lengths, in very good condition or better(see scans provided). ALSO INCLUDED is an autograph letter signed by him, dated in Paris, March 7, 1867, to the pianist Antoine-François Marmontel (1816-1898). The correspondent enclosed “...ce 1er Volume Beethoven...”.  SOLD TOGETHER, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.

French dancer (1830-?) Autograph letter in French signed by her, dated in Turin, Nov.28, 1952, to the theater agent Gianni Rossi about rejecting to dance at La Scala: "... yesterday I received your kind letter of the 22nd N. I am sorry that I have no longer had the pleasure of seeing you in the Hotel au Belle Venise. Thank you for the... You intended to engage me [sic.] for La Scala, but I cannot accept this engagement for this theatre and its payments. And then this theatre not of my passion [sic.] I could have danced [sic.] at the great Operas in Paris alone for payment and I would have liked to accept...". Size is 7.3 x 9.52 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet (front and verso), some light tears, folds, creases, in overall very good condition.  Handwritten envelope INCLUDED.

Austrian-German Royal Prussian chamber tenor and physician (1831-1894). Fine vintage Carte-de-visite (CDV) with an oval photographic portrait of the artist. Size is 2.5 x 3.9 inches, in very good condition.

French violinist ((1822-1878), composer, and teacher of Music History at the Conservatoire de Paris from 1872 until his death. Autograph letter in French signed by him, dated July 1868, to a gentleman, recommending his friend the pianist and composer Jules Meilhan "... He is a friend of mine and, as you will see, a quite remarkable artist...". Size is 5.2 x 8.1 inches, 1 page, overall rust tone, light smudge over ink, in overall excellent condition.

American stage, screen, and television actor and singer (1919-2009), signed photograph, shown as himself, inscribed. Size is 8 x 9.75 inches, small crease on top right, otherwise in excellent condition. 

French singer (1894-1977), and also an actress who had an important career both in France and internationally.  Attractive signed photograph, shown as herself, inscribed.  Photo by Harcourt, Paris. Size is 7 x 9.5 inches, in excellent condition.

German-Austrian actor (1827-1917), signed photograph, shown in role, dated in 1909. Bold handwriting and signature. Photo by L. Gutmann, Vienna. This is a 4.75 x 6.75 inch photo mounted on soft cardboard, total item size is 6 x 8.5 inches, in excellent condition. 

Distinguished Italian actress (1822-1906), known for tragic dramas,  who was often referred to as the "Marquise".  Signed vintage CDV, shown in role, signed and inscribed on verso, photo by Disderi, Paris. Size is 2.25 x 4 inches, in very good condition. Also included: 1 autograph letter signed, 3 pages writtten in Italian, sold untranslated, dated in Rome in 1890. Size of each page is 4.5 x 7 inches, in excellent condition. Not sold separately. 

Italian stage actor and playwright (1851-1919), played character and leading comedy parts in leading theatrical companies between 1871 and 1884, later opened several of his own companies and appeared in a number of early silent films. Signed cabinet-style photograph, shown in a variety of roles, inscribed and dated in Torino in 1889. Photo by Alvino and company photographers, Florence. Size is 7 x 10 inches, several cracks at the bottom of the item not affecting handwriting and signature, otherwise in good condition. 

American soprano (1851-1929).  Short autograph note in German on the verso and front of her personal card signed by her as "Minnie". Size is 3.5 x 2 inches, some rust tone, in overall excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an unsigned carte-de-visite (CDV) with her image and her personal card.

German bass (1829-1894), chamber singer at the Royal Prussian Opera, and landscape painter. Vintage Carte-de-visite (CDV) of him by photographer Hugo Danz (Berlin). Size is 2.3 x 3.9 inches, ink-markings on verso, otherwise in excellent condition.

Russian-born American conductor (1901-1980), and arranger who was one of the major exponents of popular orchestral music. Autograph music quote with 2 bars of music from Emile Waldteufel's waltz "The Skaters" (1882) signed and inscribed by him on a program of the Philadelphia Pops Orchestra concerts season 1964-65. Size is 5.9 x 8.9 inches, 2 pages, in excellent condition.

Belgian-born opera composer (1741-1813). Fine vintage lithograph with the portrait of the composer by François Delpech, with a facsimile signature at the bottom. Size is 7 x 11 inches, spotted rust stains all over, in overall good condition.

German composer (1860-1930), a pupil of Julius Schulhoff and Edmund Kretscher in Dresden, teacher at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin and the Chicago Musical College. Autograph letter in German signed by him, dated August 19, 1898, addressed to a music critic, concerning articles he published. Size is 6.2 x 8.5 inches, 3 written pages, central fold, overall rust tone, in very good condition.

Program for a performance of Verdi's "Un Ballo in Maschera" at The Lyric Theatre of Chicago on November 29, 1955, featuring Jussi Bjorling, Anita Cerquetti, Tito Gobbi, under the baton of Nicola Rescigno -who signed on the cast page. Size is 8.5 x 11 inches, full program with all pages and cover, in excellent condition.

Program for a performance of Puccini's opera "La Bohème" at the Lyric Opera of Chicago on November 7, 1960, under the baton of Gianandrea Gavazzeni, signed on the cast page by Richard Tucker, Renata Scotto, Renato Cesari, and Ferruccio Mazzoli. Size is 8.5 x 11 inches, full program with all pages and covers, overall rust tone, in very good condition.

Program for a performance of Mozart's opera "Le Nozze di Figaro" on October 29 & 31, 1960, at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, featuring Waechter, Berry, Schwarzkopf, Streich, Corena, Ludwig, and Krips (conductor), signed on the cast page by Walter Berry and Rita Streich. Size is 8.5 x 11 inches, full program with all pages and covers, overall rust tone, otherwise in very good condition.

American mezzo-soprano (1892-1977), older sister of soprano Rosa Ponselle. Printed score for Miguel Sandoval's vocal piece "Christ The Redeemer" signed and inscribed by Ponselle with a short sentiment on the front cover, dated August 18, 1967. Size is 6.9 x 10.2 inches, 12 pages (including covers), in excellent condition.
